Hi Everyone! I want to ask this question to the community: has anybody tried to pass a slideshow created for mac to a mac user that has the old G4 G5 powerpc based mac? Hi Everyone, first of all let me say this forum is very friendly and full of valuable information the people here are very helpful to each other and it is not to be take for granted given what I see in other forums. So thanks to all for your suggestions. I am not extremely skilled with PTE, to tell you the truth I have somewhat a love hate relationship with it. What I want to do is very easy with a multitrack video editor. Basically, I have a text which is quite long and to be read by the viewer comfortably the animation cannot be very fast. I was thinking of making the text roll at the bottom of the screen so as to not interfere with the image too much. This text should appear on slide 3 or 4, roll continuously for about 1 min and about 15 slides and then end. Again I am not sure I understand your suggestion. Maybe it's me but this should be a simple thing to do in any Video\Picture slideshow composer. Sorry for my 'thickness' I am thinking of breaking-up the text in parts and copy in each slide and make it appear and disappear according to key points. It sounds very time consuming to achieve the bottom rolling text across many slides. This is a feature that should be available in PTE. I mean, animations in a video should not be limited within the single slide. I see where this is coming from in PTE history of development but it is one of those shortcomings that feeds my love-hate relationship with this otherwise wonderful program. Thanks to all. rob

Dear All, I am trying to include some text comment that applies to multiple slides in a show but I cannot find a way to do this. I would like to have the text appear on the first slide and running at the bottom of the screen then continue for several slides then ends after say 10 images have been displayed on the screen. Greetings to all, I have seen slideshows that when projected were 1024x3 by 768; that is, the image projected had a resolution of 3072 x768. I have also seen others done with two projectors that were 2048x768. My question is, can PTE running on a PC drive two projectors with appropriately created shows (eg. account for blending of the images fro example) ? I am investigating whether this is possible at all with PTE Will it ever allow this? thank you.

Igor, Ok tried again with a simple show and it worked. Then went back to my old project and found the following problems. In window mode 1024x768: double click on the app and it starts but I get the following window warning "opt_exefn - Empty"; I then click on OK and the show starts in windows mode. In full screen the show starts only after I press the space bar, but I don't recall having this set in the project options. However, THE SHOW WORKS!!! And the quality is beautiful! Now I can't wait for the full Mac version! Thanks!!

I have generated a mac slide show fro one of my previous projects created with V.5.6 deluxe. Slide show does not start. I get a full black screen with nothing happening. I have to press "apple-option-esc" to exit to return to desktop. :-(

Greetings to all, I have been using PTE for a long time and would like to offer a suggestion related to the creation of video for Youtube, Vimeo etc... I would like to create videos such as the one for YouTube to be used for my personal website space. Why do I have to be locked into signing up for YouTube or Vimeo in order to create this type of video and save it locally on my PC? This type of video is created ONLY if I provide Username and Password for YouTube and ONLY then is saved locally. Why not simply let the user create the video save it locally and then let the user upload it through the web if she/he desires? I don't need PTE to handle the web transfer, but this way I can have the video of my slideshow created ONLY if I am a user of YouTube. I manage my own web site and blog and the YouTube/Vimeo format can be useful to be placed directly on my space without having to crosslink my site to YouTube... I think this small change could make the video creation much more flexible. Many thanks to Igor for his efforts! Best regards. Roberto

Hi All, I have searched in the forums but found no answer yet on this issue. Is it possible in the project options > screen to assign a small bmp or png image as color outside the slide area and tile it as a repeating pattern? Many thanks for any help or hint on how to do this! Regards Rob

Hi Igor, thanks for your reply. I hope the MAC users interested in PTE will write to Codeweavers to ask support. Yes this is not a problem. Audio can be heard perfectly. these folders are created by Crossover under another path but should be accessible to the application under the environment. The program installs but when I run it I get an error report and a dump from wine. I am not a expert and I don't know what to do with this. It seems the dlls are loaded but there is a page fault on a read access... I have tried with Parallels which is similar to virtual PC but much better and much faster. Unfortunately the ver5 show does not load I get a data error report for a stack overflow... :-( No problem whatsoever with ver. 4.48 shows and program. Cheers Roberto

Hi Barry, I have bought one of your CD which I found very very useful. I am a relatively new mac user and don't think I have particular bias toward it but I have found that for graphics usage its much more intuitive and frankly I was a bit fed up with windows and its many quirks. Also I like the unix foundations of OSX. Many MAC users of long date are somewhat "affectionate" to the OS which I don't understand since to me its just a tool. Many don't think there can be a killer app like PTE that quality wise is superior to sw which costs hundreds and hundreds of euros (final cut pro, adobe premiere etc...) . If they could see the quality of PTE they would be hooked. But it is true that in the print/publishing trade macs are more popular. Thanks Roberto

Tom, thanks for the screen shots it is helpful I can compare the dlls loaded with the ones on the Crossover Bottle and work my way up. I have tried using Parallels http://www.parallels.com/en/products/workstation/mac/ which requires you install a working version of Windows (XP in my case) and both PTE 4.48 and its slideshows work very smoothly on my machine with ATI x600 graphics card. Igor, I will try version 5 slideshow demo to see the smoothness, but within Parallels which at the moment is the only working solution for me. Again Crossover would be ideal as it would not require installation of the XP operating system. If Mac users on this forum would also try it would be great! Also if they would read about Crossover and sponsor PTE as a desirable application to be supported it might make a difference. Cheers Roberto

Tom thanks for your reply. DirectX is supported by Crossover but again without knowing which DLL of the Windows API are required by PTE it is difficult to customize a wine bottle for PTE to run well. Actually, the versions of graphics card supported by late Mac Intels are quite powerful and should be more than sufficient to run even vers. 5. But I'll be very happy to get 4.48 working fine. Actually I have discovered that for independent software developers (Igor in this case) Crossover offers some very interesting way of get an application "certified". http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility I have also found that PTE is in the database of applications for which a request has been made (I did not request it) so there must be at least two people and now you interested in this! Greetings to every one on this forum, this is my first post though I have been using PTE for quite a while. I am so hooked on PTE that at present it is THE only program that is still holding me from switching fully to MAC OSX. I had read all post about using Virtual PC and so on but have found the performance absolutely unacceptable. BUT BUT BUT I may have found a solution. This application called Crossover http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/ can allow to run win32 apps within OSX much like wine does for win32 apps under Linux. The performance should be much much improved. I am currently evaluating it and so far I have been able to install PTE 4.48 and launch an AV prepared as an EXE. I am encountering some problems though. The AV starts and I hear the audio perfectly but the image sequence is retarded wrt the audio. PTE installs and can be launched but I do not see any window on my screen. Now to my questions which should probably be addressed to Igor being the developer. I have to recreate within Crossover the same environment that PTE sees in Windows. That is, to put the same DDLs and any other system/ini files required/used by PTE and its Slideshow to run, in the environment provided by Crossover (it is called "Bottle"). Problem is I don't know which are all the Win32 system files/dlls which are used by PTE that may be called upon during usage. Can Igor point out these files? If this is successful it can be of great use for other MAC users to discover the great program that PTE is! Many thanks for any help! Cheers Roberto

Hi I have recently purchased a license of PTE and I think it is a fantastic app! Quality, rendering, is just fabulous. All I can say is please please make it a OS X application also. I know that I can run it with virtual PC but the speed and response is just not the same as in a PC environment and I wonder how the V.5 will run given that it needs more resources. PTE is the only app that it is still keeping me from doing a complete switch to OS X and a very important one (for me at least) Regards. Roberto
