Here is a new slideshow capturing my son's maiden flight home in his 1941 Piper Cub. He took me up for some shots of our family farms. I put considerable time in this show, working with the many elements trying to create the sensation of flight. I only had limited success and soon realized that there is only so much you can do with still photographs and eventually have to move to digital video.
I do hope you'll take the time to go up with us. Enjoy the flight and feel free to offer your comments.
Regards,
Dave

I have a slide sequence which I made around 6 years ago, before I knew about templates etc. I would like to do it again and bring it up to date. Is there any way I can do this? I had thought photographing each image on the screen, is ther a better or possible way. Gilbert
Hi Gilbert, there is a program that lets one click on the frames of a running PTE show, and captures and saves
each in a folder. I think it came from the guy in Thailand. This is a fantastic program, but I suspect the pros, in
this group convinced him to take it down.

Hi Frank,
There is no specific text animation mode in PTE but you certainly can do text animation - some in ways which are not possible with Proshow, etc. Let me know what it is that you would like to see and I'll provide you a sample.
P.S.
Here's a little "taste" - LOL

Hi Robert,
Probably it was one posted in the Tutorials and Articles section here:
http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7901
Let me know if it was different...
Best regards,
Lin
Hi Lin, thanks for your reply. I think the demo was very recent, and for a lady that was very new to PTE.
Please disregard if it's too much trouble, I know your time is money.
Thanks again, Gayland (robertg)

Hi Lin, you recently posted a demo, for a person, on the forum, on O&A use.
I didn't download it at the time, and now cannot locate it. Would you point me to it?
Thanks for all you do for the forum, Gayland.

I have just done a quick AV show of Scotland after seeing a similar one on the Beckham Digital site. It is the one with the McManus effect.
Please feel free to comment, good or bad.

I have an old Minolta SLR camera, that I haven't used since my first digital about 6 or 8 years ago.
I now have a (bridge) Konica/Minolta Dimage Z6 with 6 MP, and have been very satisfied with it.
One of the reasons I bought this camera was, it uses AA batteries that I can buy anywhere in the world.
I don't like the idea of proprietary batteries, and I have a dozen rechargable AA's and my charger.
The pro's, I'm sure have much different ideas, but this is my humble opinion.
Thanks for all the help from the forum, Gayland.

There are many mundane looking things that we see when we walk through the countryside that are really worth more than a cursory glance. This is my attempt to show a few of them.
I wanted to try to get over the problem of mixing landscape and portrait in one show and this is my best effort so far.
Any suggestions for improvement greatly appreciated.

This is sized for 1280 x 1024 and uses "picture frames" other resolutions will have some black banding that will not look nearly as good. Does anyone know a quick way of resizing the whole show?
Kind regards
Peter
Peter, what a fantastic show, thanks for sharing.

ACTUALLY THE QUESTION SHOULD BE
will the deluxe VB run after 2 yrs??
for example, when i buy a piece of software it basically runs forever, but it will not update after a certain length of time, BUT it will still run
years ago i bought MusicMatch -- and they said that by purchasing it i would get updates forever -- guess what -- one day i went for an update and they came back and said i had to buy a new version
it still works and i use it as my main default mp3 player, but i will not buy their software again -- they spoke with forked tongue -- politicians are quite adept at this:)
i guess software companies have learned from our "elected leaders"
ken
Ken, I too had the same experience with MusicMatch. I purchased the deluxe upgrade and eventually went for my update
and I too was told I had to buy a new version. I really did like the program, but I don't like to be held hostage by software companys. Needless to say, I did not give in to the nagware, they installed on my computer, and uninstalled the program.
I just had to vent a little.

I have noticed that some users are having difficulty in finding the 'Templates' folder, usually because they have not switched on the 'display hidden files and folder' option in Windows Explorer. I am prompted to ask this question "How many of you actually use the default folder, or have you changed the default and moved the PTE Templates to a different folder and drive on your computer?
I ask this because I have been asked if I would produce a pdf tutorial on how to find and then move the folder.
My own preference is to leave the default folder where it is and just create another folder on another drive and then periodically copy all PTE templates from the default folder to this new folder. This prevents the loss of those precious templates in the event of a 'CRASH'
Please let me have your opinjions!
Ron West
Ron, thanks for all you do for the forum.
I have v5 installed, but I use the old 4.8, I just haven't grasped all the stuff in v.5.
Thanks again,robertg

Thanks to Ronniebootwest, for the tutorial on his method of introducing his slideshows.
I needed to be led, by the hand, to understand how to do this. I'll be waiting for part 2.
Thanks Ron, Gayland (robertg)

Ray, consider yourself lucky, before you had a heart attack.
I worked for over forty years, for a major air conditioning company.
I built prototype models that the clueless idiots put unrealistic timetables on. When I reached
my earliest retirement age, I was gone. It has been five years and I coulden't be happier.
Stay happy, robertg

Lin, I'm sorry to hear about your eyesight problem.
Get well soon...!!!

Thanks, for sharing your beautiful show JPD, if only I could do half as well.
Happy holidays to you and yours, robertg.

Dear PTE users,
My name is Prashant Khapane (from India, working in Germany for last 7 years as scientist) and photography is my hobby (mostly landscape). I created this show for last christmas and presented it at our organizations christmas party. This year am presenting it at Fotoclub in Göttingen.
Let me know how you find this. I'm not a big fan of effects.
Prashant, thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, robertg

maybe try experimenting with these curtains as backgroun - the gif will not move but you can diddle with them to see how they would look

in the early days of v5 Lin and others played with them

Thanks Ken, for your help, robertg

Hi Robertg,
Unfortunately those type effects are only avilable via the beta. They will be available as well in the release version of 5.0 but require the use of layers and animation.
Even if you only wanted the images to fade in and out within the framework of the theater curtains you would still need layers to avoid some sort of border between the uneven framework of the curtains and the pictures themselves so it's not possible to do this with release version 4.48 but it's very easy to do with the betas. The important features such as complete music sync and probably built-in text manipulation will very likely be introduced with the next beta but you can use the existing beta to make very good professional shows in either executable or AVI/DVD format.
Best regards,
Lin
...................................................................................................................
OK Lin, I may have to break a long standing rule, and try v5 beta. I assume I can have both versions installed.
Thank you and everyone for taking the time to help me, robertg.

Hi Robertg,
I'm assuming you will be using the beta version so the following applies to that. If you create background (JPG, PNG, etc.) then I'm assuming that you want it to extend around the edges of the photo or photos you place on any particular page. So the issue becomes one of image size versus background size.
The next thing to decide is whether you will be using a "tiled" image or perhaps a different image for different slides as a background. From the Project Options click on the Screen tab where you normally add a gradient or solid background. If you want a tiled image, then any small jpg can be "repeated" as "tiles" so you just "point" with the browse tool to the image stored on your hard disk you wish to use as a "tiled" image and that image will be repeated for each slide.
If, on the other hand, you want to use a custom image as a background for different slides, you would go to the Objects and Animations screen and simply place the background image in the Objects list and adjust the relative size of the foreground and background images so that the desired amount of background shows behind your picture. You would repeat this on an individual basis for each slide as desired. Pay particular attention to zooms so that you don't make the overall size of the foreground image fill the screen and obliterate your background image - unless, of course, that's the effect you wish for a particular slide.
If you give us a bit more information about exactly what you want to achieve, we can probably be more specific with suggestions.
Best regards,
Lin

Hi Lin,
Thanks for the response. I'm using v4.48, I never put anything with beta in the name(except Windows, which we know is always in beta) on my computers.
The method I am asking about is similar to your and Doms show, Theater 2- Birds Large and Small.
The theater stage opening would be the frame, and the slideshow would transition inside the frame.
Please see attachment for exactly what I'm striving to accomplish.
Thanks for the help, robertg

Hi everyone, I would like to know how to add the background, in PTE slideshows. These have cutouts and frames where the actual photos are transitioned. (Example is Monicle show by Igor.)
I have been using PTE, for several years, for family photos, using the same gradiants and transitions.
I do have and use Photoshop CS to modify and improve my photos, but I don't have a clue how to get any backgrounds, I create into PTE shows.
I know this is elementary stuff to most of you, but you had to start somewhere.
Your help pointing me in the right direction to tutorials etc would be appreciated.
Thanks,robertg
