  1. I do have all the images in one folder and then sub folders. But that does not help me because the warning that an image is missing is still there and I have been through time and time again to find what is missing and cannot find anything. If something is missing and everything else seems alright then I am happy but the blue sign is still there and I cannot get rid of it so what is the point - If it told me where it was then I could look for it!!! Everything works alright. Maybe someone has some suggestions what I can do? Thanks yguy
  2. I have been away from PTE for quite a long while and apologize for an unfinished thread that I started some time ago. I now have a problem that I have just finished a presentation and all is well except for a missing image which I cannot find. All it says is "image not found" then "Path:" but does not give me any indication what the path is. This appears throughout the presentation and I have passed from one slide to another and cannot find it - anybody have an idea of how I can find it? I have another request, not related to the first - can the name of the music apppear on the timeline (on the waveform). When many files are used it would help if we could see by name which file we are seeing.
  3. Inanswer to Daveg: No I have been using CS3. I have been spending the last two days in moving all of the photos (several hundred!) over to a new folder. I don't know why but that was the problem. It wouldnt work from that folder and now in a new folder it worked. So I tried today to burn a new presentation. It looked good when I watched the Mpeg so I tried to burn it. I should have realised something was wrong when it took longer than normal. I started at 10:30 this morning and it finished at 18:20 this afternoon! I tried it on my desktop which is a PC and it wouldn't work on any of the programmes that I have (Nero, Windows Media, DVD X Utilities) - it didn't work. I tried on my Mac laptop and it worked all right but the quality was bad. Finally I tried it on my DVD player through the TV and it looked good sounded good but every second stopped for a second continued a second and stopped a second etc etc. The presentation is long (42 minutes) divided into 5 chapters (Igor can we have some more templates with 3,4, 5 or 6 chapters?). It is a program with sound and is aynched. I made a test with 10 pics but left the sound off because that is long and heavy. http://www.mediafire.com/?2bvmt0uzyy4 YG
  4. I have been away for a couple of days thus no correspondence - but I have not been inactive. Thinking the problem might be old photographs I went through Photoshop with them and resized, deleted, renamed every single one of them. Then tried it on my desk top computer which is not a Mac. Regular Windows Pentium 4, XP AND IT STILL DIDN"T WORK! So I cried on my son's (who is the real computer guru in my family) but said that he would not be able to do anything because he doesn't know the programme. "Step aside old man" he said and twiddled and toggled and five minutes later it was working!! "What did you do" I asked. "Just twiddled and toddled with the timeline he told me. "Show me " I asked And it wouldn't work again and we have tried a hundred times since!!!!! It is something to do with the opening slide. There is no transition and I am sure that it it a simple thing and I don't know what it is. I have tried to compare with earlier presentations that did work and I can't see the difference. but it still doesn't work. At any rate it has nothing to do with the fact that I have been working on a Mac - of that I am convinced. HELP! YG
  5. Thanks Brian, Well we'll see. I still think that I have produced presentations on the Mac laptop before, but what I am going to try to do now is to produce a DVD on my desktop and see if there is any improvement. I'll also check out your links for which I thank you. I shall keep you informed as to results YG
  6. Hi Brian, Thanks for joining the fray. Yes I have a Mac and it is running on Intel core and Mac's Boot so that I can use it as a Mac and a PC at almost the same time. But P2E is running on the Windows segment of course. But my black screen still exists! YG
  7. Ralph, Ken, What I don't understand is that I have already produced presentations on v5.0 successfuly on this computer. So I am almost certain that it must be connected with the fact that I am usinge photographs taken from one of the older versions of P2E. I tried to do it with just a part of the presentation with the same black screen effect. I am using a Mac laptop. I have nearly 6 GB of 31 GB available on my hard disc. XP system 1400 @ 1.83 Ghz 988 Mhz and 0.98 GB of RAM I have now downloaded DirectX 9 Yg
  8. I checked dxdiag. It tells me Dx Diag 5.03.2600.2180 Unicode Because Builder would't work I tried to continue on AVI. Although I have a picture there the synch is completely out. I tried increasing frames but nothing changed and the pictures are far slower that the audio. So I am still at loss as to what to do. Hoping that you can get me out of this rut. YG
  9. Hi Ralph, thank you for joining Ken. Yes I must have changed the setting AVI/DVD and now that is back to normal. I have just tried my presentation on AVI and it worked, that is the pics were visable. But as you picked up, when I try it in Builder I get a black picture instead of photos. YG
  10. Hi Ken, I thought that I would try to make an AVI file of it as you suggest and burn it on Nero. All of a sudden it does not give me that option and I can only make a DVD on builder! YG
  11. I have just been chasing the mpeg all over my computer but couldn't find it! I did it again and saved it on the desktop. It is now a "ptv" file of 1.72 kb!! something is screwed up here. It appears that the pics are not registering. Any suggestions? It looks perfectly all right on the P2E, so I don't know what to do. YG
  12. Hi Ken and anyone else who is interested. I really do appreciate help on this - it is sofrustrating and time consuming. You are write the MPEG shows up as black. As for size I did not quite undestand "check its size it should be close to the above size"? on the P2E it estimates the size as around 62mb whereas, if I remember correctly the Builder gave me a figure like 400 and something mb. So somethoing is wrong there. The question is what do I do so sort out the codecs - if that indeed is the problem. YG
  13. Sorry about that. Last attempt on ver5.03 YG
  14. Dear all, Maybe you can tell me what is happening here. I have already successfully produced several presentations without too much dificulty and I have been very pleased with the results. Last week I decided to revamp an old production that I never really finished properly. I had to work hard revitalising photographs from various sources because a year ago my computer with all the back ups were stolen from my house. It took me a week and not I have produced a 42 minute presentation in 5 chapters. (could we have a menu that has more that four chapters to a page?). All looks well on the computer. I burned the production and as you all well know that takes several hours in all. The result was BLACK pictures. The sound was all right. I tried it again with another version of P2E, same result. I tried redoing the photographs. Again the same disatster. In all I have tried about 4 or 5 times and always have the same result. Can anybody suggest what is happening here? It is obviouslyy something to do with the old photographs but I can't see what it might be. Thanks YG
  15. Something I have never tried and I don't know whether it is possible. I have music running in the background - that is fine. Now I want to add a caption in SOUND on each slide for people with limited visability. Is that at all possible? And if so how do I do it? yguy
  16. If we are onto requests for the next beta or even version I would ask if it is possible to add the name of the audio file that is currently playing on the timeline. This would save a lot of time. Thanks - yguy
  17. Thanks Dom for your input. So you think that I cannot intergrate the Mpeg file into the presentation as Al suggested in v5. I thought that I would have to finish the PTE presentation in DVD format as Al suggested and then edit and intergrate the Mpeg file into the presenation by means of a video editing program.
  18. Thanks Al I think I understand what you are saying and shall try it.
  19. I don't often write to the forum but I wish to thank you all for so much that I have learnt over the years. v5 is super. I am a tour guide and do a presentation for every group that I guide. It gets better and better with each group. I can now do a map at the begining of each days tour. I have a picture (or sometimes more than one), in the background and a map in the foreground and a bus that moves a long the route that we take. It looks great. But something that I have not succeeded in doing is adding snipits of video in the presentation. I use a Sony Mavica and and take occasional Mpeg pieces a few seconds in length. Every time I have tried to add these to the PTE presentation the video comes out fine but there is no sound. What should I be doing or what am I doing wrong? What should I convert the Mpeg file to, or what do I have missing (I have been trying to understand the whole deal with codecs but too no avail). My thanks to Lin and Dom and Boxig (who we haven't heard from in a long while) and many others who have taught me so much.
  20. Hi All, I am so impressed with you guys and your solidarity, help and assistance. Look at these guys Harry and get strength from them, and I wish you many, many more years of Pics2Exe presentations. All the best to Harry and all out there Yehuda
  21. Igor you are great, This is what I meant - now you can see which project you have closed if you have to re-boot at any time in the middle. Thank you yguy
  22. Hi everyone, I still haven't solved my problems re. "Music synch. But in the meantime I have a suggestion. When in the middle of a project and for one reason or another one has to close down. If you have forgotten to "save" you get the message "The project has been changed. Do you want to save it?" Which is wonderful but it doestn't tell you the project or even more important the Program. So I suggest that "Picturestoexe" appears on the title bar. yguy
  23. Dear friends, I have spent a long time now trying to solve a problem of music synchronization. I want to try to run the pte like a DVD. I have an opening picture with buttons. If I press one of the buttons to take me to, let us say slide 10. I then want a piece of music to start at slide 10 and to continue to the end or to another slide that is so indicated. I thought this would be possible if I "customize slide" and in the music tab click "play new sound file" and then in the consecutive slides click "continue playing sound files", but this does not work. So how should I do it? Would appreciate if someone out there could help me yguy
  24. Dear Igor, Time-line graphically displays effect duration for the transition points This is a great addition. helps enormously to control the transition. My first tempt to produce a presentation I wasted a lot of time having the transitions run into each other. Now you can see the length on the scale. Simply great! yguy
