  1. Good show there Boxig. You are one busy man
  2. I would also assume it would be impossible to exactly determine the function you desire Michele. I imagine it may be possible to show you some #s you may want to see on your settings while building your shows. And also assuming if that info is supplied ... it should only display the info your desire at that particular instance. As each time you save and reopen your PTE build file ... the numbers would inevitably have to change due to your PCs resources and load changes. So the issue of the supplied info ... is not going to be consistant and very useful in my opinon ... it may well be more confusing due to the ever changing of display settings. But as to actual display accuracy on your own PC and other USERS PCs once compiled ... the timing as we all know varies pc to pc by many variables during the actual excution of play. Bottom line is ... you may well possibly see your settings during the build ... but at play time the settings become null .. the show must be SYNC and not MANUAL. But then again ... maybe Im reading this request differently ?
  3. I personally believe all forums should have some type of grouping of its postings. This supports a better response time from those more knowledegable within a certain issue or subject. Plus, when I login to other forums ... I always view the issues relative to my needs/ problem first. This in no way ignores the less important user questions ... as we all have a different criterior of whats more important to our current questions or needs. 4 to 5 subject Groups is just fine ... to many becomes more counter productive . 1- "Basic Overall " Issues -- deals with the everyday common questions, functions and program useage. 2- "Music-Sound" Issues -- (self defining) 3- "Image-Graphic" Issues -- ( self defining) 4- "General Q & A " -- deals pretty much with anything ... between anything topical or informative and for those that like to post wish lists etc. Oh well ... for me its back to the drawing board
  4. mandarinfish, Harold is correct. The MOUSE is usually not suppose to return to view. This is quite the common practice for this type of setting. I think your idea is that you want the "MOUSE" to return to "VIEW" if motion is detected after being hidden ... thats a totally different function than just HIDING MOUSE after a certain time frame.
  5. nspindel, Another fact to keep in mind : By the above information supplied by Igor in another recent post when using SYNC mode ... seems to qualify if your pictures (settings) cant keep up to the MUSIC your pictures will be adjusted to match the music timimg .
  6. nspindel Just inquiring for a simple detail ... when you say Is this presetation being run from the Hard Drive (disk) or a CD Disc ? Also, Slow processors or heavy loaded up (memory) pcs will have problems with cetain extended transistion timings. Transistions hog alot of your cpu usuage to display properly ... especially evident on slow pcs.
  7. Trudy This may be a shot in the dark about your trouble .... but : Have a look at your .pte file attributes (propertites) by your mouse right click. Is your .pte file by chance READ ONLY ?
  8. fotoman, Do you have more than 1 CD Drive on those XP machines ? Or just the CD/DVD burner as your only choice to play CDs? Test your other CD Drives if available. Another question : You say that a XP burned CD will not PLAY on the XP .... Is that same CD capable of PLAYING on the 98 machines ? If the CD/DVD burner is all you have ... verify all your installed/ selected setup settings for that burner. You may have a missed a setting that enables auto detection or selection of disc type .... specifically DATA DISC.
  9. Jim You only need to "flatten" your heirarcal file structure (no subdirectories) ... if you so desire for ease of your own personal use. I always use several folders and subdirectories for the projects file management ... then all you need to do is make your execution file paths "relative" . Yes , I aggree that it would be easier for some users if PTE to was to have a setting that gave them a choice to select specific or multiple use drive paths. However, I find it much easier to just remove the reference to the drive in the path ... without worry of what settings I may or may not have set ( to many settings to make ... to many little things to forget about also). Again, your folder structure can contain subdirectories of files ... so theres no need to make any "flatten" setting for file use.
  10. Jim You are experiencing the normal problem when using the SYNC feature and accessing objects. Currently PTE does not allow any interaction from the user with any mouse actions that would otherwise interfere with the shows SYNC timing. Maybe oneday a suitable possibility\alternative will enable both as PTE progresses with time.
  11. Thanks, Boxig Still very interesting indeed. I hope they calculated the time adjustment properly ... or otherwise all our birthday dates are messed up now !
  12. Guido Very interesting ... it will be a day to celebrate ... since that day does not exist yet ... 31 Feb
  13. Guido, Oh well, worth a try ... must be another quirky thing with ME OS to add to the list of quirks that system already has.
  14. Hey, Guido I aggree with RudiRe ... this issue is most likely occurring due to the Desktop Settings configured on those other PCs. The Users backgroud color settings can especially be noticeable in any Widowed presentation and\or Screen Resolution difference that may be different than you originally sized your presentation for. If I find out more .... I will let you know.
  15. fotoman, If your P2E Cd works on all other PCs except the questioned XP systems ... your issue is not likely the PTE.exe file or your Cd autorun.inf. Your issue lies within some XP configuration settings. Since you say "Not only will the autorun feature not work" ... are you saying any type of CD you place in the CDROM Drive ( not your own P2E CDs) will not work ? Can you manually open the P2E Show form the CD by double clicking it ... or is it that you cant even see the contents of the CD files from within the Explorer view ?
  16. Jim, You may want to try your test again ... your Iomega ZIP test is probably reading your Show files from your C destination files and not your Iomega Zip drive Show files. ( Move or rename your original C: folder\files to some other location to test) Ive been making many CDs ... many years ... this is the safest and absolute way to assure proper file execution from the correct location. Note: Some progams may have a built-in feature that looks directly into its relative sub folders for files it may not otherwise find in your named path ... but dont always rely it. Note: You may want to go to Beechbrook Cottage PTE download site which contains many PTE Shows, Utilities and some helpful tutorials. I have a BASIC TIPS GUIDE #1 that examples using CD and its relative paths. Beechbrook Cottage link : http://beechbrook.com/pte/
  17. fotoman, Just a thought : Do any other CDs currently AUTORUN on those XP sys ? You may need to check the settings on those XP drives to be sure auto play on disc insertion is enabled .
  18. Jim As Al mentions ... make no reference to any DRIVE locations. Since you want your CDR to be able to PLAY in any CDROM ... many of us may have several different letter desiginations just use as example : \wem\pte\maps \wem\pte\trip If you created your SHOWS in the SYNC setting ... they should PLAY as you intended on all PCs. If you creared them in your own custom settings and timing ... there will be variations pending on the USERS PC speed and current loads. Initial loading times are usually longer when reading from CDROM Drives ... this is the nature of the beast from any CD run program. If you want your SHOWS to RUN smoothly on all PCs (old and new) ... do not build too complex timings and transition changes ... this senario is for HARD DRIVE or CD - RUN presentations. Make a few CDs and test among friends and family ... once your satisfied with your results .... keep burning ! Another Note : Avoid using Long File Names (folders and files) and any special characters and spaces ... this can resolve issues on older OS. Many Users seem to like " Long" names etc ... but to be safe dont ... let your presentation tell the story ( not its name).

    DVD

Hello and wecome Buck , Your best bet is to do a SEARCH of Topics relating to your question. DVD is rather discussed in detail and frequently among the forum users here.
  20. Welcome JosefTuerk, Please specify some details of your Show's contents (image and music file types, sizes, etc ... as we need more information to give more informaton to help you. In the meantime you may want to do a SEARCH for your issue in other topics posted. Also try this link to a previously posted Topic that may be similar to your issue. 21. Kim Your comment on ... " I refer to the PTE faq that recommends 300MHz/32 MB RAM (and requires a minimum of 100MHz/16 MB). I would also like to point out that on a much faster system 1.7GHz, 512MB of RAM, the launch time was still 40 seconds for my exe." The PTE Faq you mention is a basic PC requirement ... this is more or less to run a basic and simpile show ... using simple transistions and relative photo sizes (kb). I dont think PTE is assuming your show is 2100MB and the maximum 32,000 images . No Mega Shows will run very well if at all on those systems. Jayspry's suggestion about your RAM size is something to really consider ... your Celeron 128mb really isnt much for todays programs that want to hog all your pc resources and place themselves in the sys tray... as I assume you have other programs running and using up more of your resources ( just look in your sys tray for icons). Do a check on your PC for available resources and ram when you have your programs running ... you will be surprised of what you have or dont have. I havent read all your Mega Postings ... so I may not be up to date on all the issues and findings. As for your Friends loadings times ... was this hard drive loading or CD loading ? As for your graphic sizes and quality ... if you use a graphics program to work with your images ... read the Image Information on your graphics ... this will help you alot in determining your photo quality needs. Bigger is not better for just "Viewing" a photo ... only for editing and printing. Your .pte file opening delay is telling me PTE is loading all your large photos into ram for use in your setup ... do a available resources and ram check after if opens to see what the numbers are now. As using your own MEGA description of your show .... one needs also a MEGA sys to run it properly
  22. For all you users into linking your shows together ... I have updated "AutoPlayer v1.5" now available at the Beechbrook Cottage Site http://beechbrook.com/pte/ New in this Version 1.5 : - Saved Groups - contents editing now possible - Lists Viewer - separate viewing window (htm capable) - Group Lists - edit "name and comments" to your needs - Lists Set and Sort - functions to correct and re-check proper order - Getting Started Help in Faqs - Right-Click Help - page notes to aid in functions and set-up - and several other graphic enhancements Thanks to all who have previously used the earlier version ... I believe you will like the new features and enhancements in this latest v1.5 Thanks Again
  23. Thought I post a update to this topic ... as reference to Users searching for future troubleshooting. Jules has emailed me concerning the music issue she has encoutered. It was indeed the WMA music file format. So to the future PTE users that want to use WMA files ... be aware ... your presentations could have issues if distributed beyond your own PC.
  24. Jeff When you say it just seems to occurr "everyso often" ... are you saying its not a consistant playback glich ? If it just happens every so often ... start closely montioring when the glich exactly seems to take effect and let us know. Could it be only happening during a Transistion cycle and a new MP3 starting to play ?
  25. I too have been patiently waiting for this Always On Top (Windowed and Full Screen types) option ... as this would solve lots of interaction issues within many programing combinations and uses. Thanks for reminding us Polartech ... I too had forgotten about this addition.
