  1. photoshop_god 1- If you place your FLASH.EXE in the root of your CD you can this path in your button command destination : \Flash.exe 2- If you place your FLASH.EXE in a folder on CD root use: \Foldername\Flash.exe ( of course use you own names here) Use no : or drive letters ... as your CD may be used on various drive letter labels. 3- Another possible way is if both your PTE.EXE and FLASH.EXE are in the same folder or are directly relative to each other you can just use : Flash.exe
  2. M.eX I think making a "self-destroying" slide show is going a bit extreme ... I dont believe most users create such sensative and critical exe shows that they need to resort to this need. Also, most users today dont turn back their PC clock/date ... as this can induce other annoying problems for some of the other programs you have on your PC/OS ... so its alot of trouble just to play back a expired show. I also like the "Expire" feature, since the need arises in some cases ... I just got to remember to disable/remove the settings when making normal shows.
  3. shelton, Considering that the "SYNC'" function is relatively new and still going thru lots of programing stages and other tweaks ... Im sure once Igor is totally happy with the foundation of the "SYNC" operation and quality ... he will start implementing other enhancements and features such as you and others would like to see possible when using SYNC. In the meantime, as JRRsuggests, there are work arounds to do what you want ... even if its a bit more work and not as fast.
  4. Deb The shadow control effect you desired is not possible on Individual Slides using PTEs Project Options. PTEs shadow effect controls the entire group of Slides from the Project Options setting ... and there is no feature or setting to add shadow effects using the Object Editor. For the effect you desire ... you must use your own graphic editor/program that will create the shadow effect on your individual files. Then you must insert these created graphics/photos as OBJECTS into PTE. PTE really does not incorporate any graphic editor/enhancements within its programing ... so you must rely on your own graphics program capabilities.
  5. tyrone123 I believe you need to make some Project Options entries and settings to achieve what you desire. Go to Project-Project Options (tab) : Select Screen (tab) Select Window Mode This enables the edit box Caption of Window... this is where you enter the name you desire. Note: Viewing " Icon and Name" in the taskbar is really only possible in WINDOWED MODE TYPE shows. It is quite the normal function in FULL SCREEN MODE TYPE shows not to see the taskbar.
  6. For all those users interested in "AutoPlayer" ... I have just uploaded a new version 2.0 at the Beechbrook Cottage Site : http://beechbrook.com/pte/ New Features v 2.0 : Remote Play - Fast access and Restart Play Menu Menu Buttons - access changes Added List Title pop-ups to Play Menu Misl additions and other minor changes Fixed Sort and Edit glich on Lists REMOTE-PLAY enables 2 primary functions : - Fast Load to Play Menu : allows PLAYER to load directly to the Remote-Play Menu without going thru the normal MENU interface routine. Remote-Play has a ON or OFF setting for quick access to Play your Show Groups as soon as the Player loads. - ReStarts Play Menu : allows PLAYER to ReStart automatically to the Remote-Play Menu after the Playing of your Show-Group. This allows fast access and playing of all your Show-Groups without having to manually start the Player again after playing each Group. Hope You All Enjoy !! Note: My next improvement will be to "AutoLink v2" ... since this has bee around awhile without any new updates ... then hopefully by then I will figure some new project to do for PTE uses.
  7. Welcome Clubmud, PTE does offer you the option to create a CUSTOMISED STARTUP WINDOW. You can add a image (or not), Title Name and a few other text and comment choices. Open the PROJECT- PROJECT OPTIONS- MAIN (button tabs) and select your CUSTOMISED STARTUP WINDOW preferences that are available. Or do do have something else in mind ?
  8. Mike, Jim gives quite a valuable point to consider if you want to control your suggested button action by closing the current running application by means of selecting a delay timesetting . "Load Times" as we know vary from Pc to Pc ... and then you must also consider if its a CD run presentation ... even longer loading times are required. The only optimal way is to have the current running exe close when the new exe actually starts playing and not at a predetermined timesetting ... as only then you are assured there will be no Desktop Screen flashbacks or music issues during the exchange of playing actions. To implement this function for any and all uses there must be a detection process to close ... then the results would be totally useful and predictable.
  9. Wendy, Yes, rename your existing autorun.inf.txt to autorun.inf as Tripstrilles suggests. Your previous filename ext is most likely causing your CD loading issue. I recall some time ago a PTE user had the very same experience when saving with their notepad and not having enabled their ext file view setting to see how it was actually saved as. However, I dont recall that their CD loaded to file view when using the autorun.inf.txt ... as you mention yours has done. I find it strange that it loaded at all ... since it was only a .txt file. Hopefully , you should be good to go now.
  10. Wendy, A Valuable Hint : When building any program ( such as PTE) and creating a data CD ... you must be able to view ( see) the extention names of your files( .wav, .txt, .inf, .exe) your working with. If unable to view or see these extentions ... you must enable their view from within your programs manager (Folder View Settings -- View All files). Since you cant see your extentions ...you may have copied the wrong files to your CD Disc without knowing for sure what they really are. Another Test : Try renaming your current EXE name to just Project.exe and also its identity within the autonrun.inf file. Rare but possible ... you may have some XP user settings restricting the filename use. Another Test : Since your CD is loading the autorun.inf and showing you the CD contents and not actually running the Project1.exe ... double click the exe show manually from this CD view to verify that the exe is actually functional. If your exe wont run by double clicking it from the CD Disc ... the autorun.inf wont be able to run it either. Thats enought for the moment ... try those tests first. *** If you have any CDRW Disc around ... use them till you sort this issue out.
  11. Wendy 1st- Just create a AUTORUN.INF file ... and enter/save the below lines in its content : [autorun] open=Project1.exe *** All spelling must be exact ... no room for error here. 2nd- Copy the Autorun.inf file and your Project1.exe to the ROOT of your CD ... use no folders here in your case senario. *** Make sure you create your CD Disc using Data Mode. Once you have generated your CD ( burning of the file contents to the disc) ... eject the CD Disc from your CD Rom ... then reinsert the CD Disc to initialize the autoplay function of your Autorun.inf file. In your case ... you donot require ICON idenity of your EXE file ... as you are using the ICON value of your EXE already. You only need to enter ICON identity if you are changing the value of your EXE's current identity.
  12. Wendy, I dont know what OS system you currently use ... in some cases it can create different issues ... ... but try removing the identity of the icon file " icon=Project1.exe" completely from your AUTORUN.INF file and just use "open=Project1.exe". You really dont need to use any ICON identity labeling.
  13. Barbara, To add a SOUND to a selected SLIDE # while your background Music is playing : On the PTEs Main Panel Interface you will see a Edit/Selection Box labeled as "Sound" under "Comments". Enter your sound files name in that location. When you enter Music/Sound Files in the main "Project Options"or the "Customize Slide" music locations ... you are adding or controlling just your BACKGROUND MUSIC selections. Entering additional sound files in these locations works only for BACKGROUND MUSIC .... not for addtional sound effects to be played in addition to your Music selections.
  14. A Fact to keep in Mind : If widely distributing any type mpg format files ... be aware all users OS may not have the proper installed/updated codecs to play your files.
  15. Boxig I havent had much free time lately to develop anything new for my own personal programs ... as Ive been rather busy doing it for others. However, with what free time Ive had ... Ive been able to do a few more enhancements for the "AutoPlayer". It now will reload/reopen itself afer playing a group of links directly to the Play Panel interface ... I call it Remote Play. I will upload it soon and explain the details then. So in the meantime ... I guess I will try to dream up some useful new addition to use with PTE shows ... and start being creative again.
  16. Boxig, Your imagination is not too wild. The features you mention can be very useful and very creative ... but ... in the right programers hands however. If the user (programer) uses such a function wisely ... it can be very effective and useful in many presentations. However, if the user (programer) is not using caution and wildly executes additional/ multiple running programs ... disaster will ultimately follow ... as they will soon find their PC out of resources, memory and possibly resulting lock-ups. So a feature as this can be wonderfully creative and (un)wonderfully disaterous . Plus using such a feature would require addtional functions not yet implemented within PTE as yet ... AlwaysOnTop ... NotAlwaysOnTop. However, I personally would greatfully invite and entertain such programing features
  17. Igor. You've done some wonderful work with this v4 ... even though I havent fully used all its new and updated features at this time. Its simply amazing the overall file package hasnt grown in size that much with all the great enhancements and new features you added ... when compared to the previous versions overall sizes. Adding "Power" and not "Bulk" ... simply great ! Wonderful work ! ... Wonderful program !
  18. Clive, Have you tried to play just the MP3 files individually ( without using PTE) on those particular machines. Another idea is to change your current music playing order of the MP3 files (in the PTE file ) to verify if theres any difference what position they may be in. Somethimes these simple tests point quickly to what may be causing the issue.
  19. Welcome Larry , You can also use PTE to make your Startup Menu ! Using the beauty of "Button Objects" within PTEs programing Create a separate exe project and make your own menu using "Button Objects" desiginated to the CD path of your 2 Shows ( and many more shows if you so desire) ... add pictures ...add music ... use it as a introduction. A little creativity here can produce great results as your launching menu. Make your MENU manually controlled though ... use no SYNC settings or otherwise you wont have mouse interactions with the menu and its buttons. Just use Path "\" ... so your files and folders remain relative to the root of any CD Rom drive . Dont use any "Drive" name labels in this path info. Create a Autorun.inf ... and your Good To Go ! Also if you require any needed guidance in making your desiginated paths and some other basic tips relative to CD use ... try my "BASIC TIPS GUIDE #1" at the Beechbrook Cottage site. The Guide itself is made " button menu style" in PTE itself. You will also find many numerous user made PTE Shows and utilities to give you ideas of what others create at this great site provided by a PTE member ( Bill) Beechbrook Cottage Site: http://beechbrook.com/pte/
  20. dilemmania Does this "List Error" also happen when you have made your presentation in the V3.80 (latest final release of PTE) ... which is not a Beta version ? A little info on your shows setup would be helpful ... ESP the entry locations of where you have inserted your music files to play. Examples of locations are :Music under Main Project Options, Customize Slide Music tab and the Sound line entry (edit box of each Slide # - under the Comments entry position) A Word of Advice : If you are a NEW USER of PTE and still learning its features and capabilities ... It is unwise to learn off BETA TESTING versions. The v3.80 is the latest final release which is less likely to create issues to new users ... whereas Beta versions can have unpredictable issues till sorted out thru testing.
  21. Tripstrilles, What "mode" are you buiding your shows within ? ... the different modes have different features and functions and yeild different playing (viewing) results. However, the two functions you wish to perform doesnt exist in PTEs programing as of yet. At this time you can not select groups of specified slides to perform multiple SYNCs or customize multiple groups and their settings. I believe PTEs progress is well on its way in achieving this ... I gather theres still considerable amount of development time to perform these functions.
  22. mannybr2003 Once Igor implements "Always On Top" or "Not Always On Top" of PTE shows (an already suggested function in the future ) ... part of your problems will be resolved. As for controlling (play, stop etc) and malnipulating (size, move etc) your EXTERNAL programs (AVI,MPG, etc) from within PTE programing functions ... I cannot see this possible in near future versions, if at all . So your COMPILED EXTERNAL Programs must be be able to have these functions programed in during their own programs build process and not within PTEs functions. Its almost as if asking to have your AVI Program to do the same thing but this time control how PTE functions and plays ... I dont see this happening.
  23. Also ... when you say "Current Version (from website) " ... to what version are you referring too ? There have also been beta versions available from this forum website ... not just the latest final release ( current users version) from the PTE homepage website.
  24. So wouldnt this mostly be a "Give your Best Guess" feature just to aid you to insert a particular Music File for its play time value to meet the Pictures Timeline? Again ... what happens at runtime when these values dont do as you intended ? Just more adjustments ?
  25. Al Your point is noted. But how would it be possible to correct the Music track time line at runtime to follow the Picture Time settings you make ? If the picture settings is the contolling element of how the show is played at runtime ... Wouldnt the Music have play slower for faster accordingly to meet the demands of the Picture Timing on each PCs capibilities ?
