  1. Hi Ken, OK you passed the Hardware Test and spotted the 'forgot to enable manual control.' To pass with full marks though, you just have to be able to point out to me how somebody would enable manual control . Once is too once too often for a burn on hot pipes. Davy
  2. Hi Jim, Great AV, super sharp pics, well seen, and no stutter with the snow effect. Added a nice 3D perspective. Made me turn the heating on! Stutter may be down to your PC/settings. Davy
  3. Hi Neil, I had a look at the original exe file and it does look and sound better playing that way compared to the Youtube version. At least I can sit back from the screen to see it. The sound especially inside Kings College sounded distorted as well. The extra conversions involved in viewing through Youtube degrade quality. It has put me off trying Youtube again (especially with panning/zooms)until somebody comes up with a 'fix' for it. Might never happen. I will see if Bill can put it up on his site. Thanks for your comments. Davy
  4. Hi All, Have put up a slideshow on http://beechbrook.com/pte/ (thanks Bill) It's called Kirkistown Track Day. It is nearly all pans and zooms,as I wanted to get across movement. Following the recent posts on the trouble some were having with the jerky playback on their equipment, this might be a candidate as a hardware test. I had problems with it playing on low specced machines though it plays fine on my home PC. Davy
  5. Hi Peter, I think there are several weak links in the chain, and that's the problem. Only as strong as the weakest one. I don't have the answers to the problem, but some things to consider. The refresh rate for your laptop is the norm usually about 60hz.I do not think that this is the same for projectors especially at larger resolutions. You may not have the option to change this frequency within your laptop. The laptop may well be struggling before it gets to hand on the 'Video Baton' to the projector. To take the strain of the laptop, you can reduce the colour output from 32 to 16 in Display properties. Also you may need to adjust the slider on the video acceleration. shutdown unnecessary background processes, and tweak the system for performance. You can be lazy and get one of the bits of tweaking software, but you can do a better job if you can read up and do it for yourself. It's always a good idea to improve your security settings while you are at it.It's a good tweak in itself. Make sure to download the latest drivers. Is there enough ram in machine? This is not intended as a cure for anything other than helping a laptop that is under pressure, but it may help overall. Some of the better graphics cards in desktop PCs will allow you to enable vsync lock. Video gamers don't like this enabled as it reduces the frame rates of their games, but it does reduce tearing. If the tweaking software is not installed for the graphics card it is usually available as a download. How this impacts in the projector performance,I don't know, but in the absence of some input from a tech guy,it might be worth looking at.There are other settings within the software, refresh lock, triple buffering etc,but I don't know enough about that or how it will effect things. It might pay to pose a question on the Video Help forum as there are some knowledgeable peeps there. The owners of other projectors here could also pose a question to there suppliers,or the manufacturers for help. The choice of projector is going to make a difference. We just got a new LCD projector as it is supposed to be better with regards to projecting static images as opposed to the DLP type more suited to home cinema. Where's Igor when you need him? Regards, Davy
  6. Hi, The link is working from here ok,but just do a search in Youtube for zibertube. Regards, Davy
  7. Hi Ed, I have even less of a buffer memory than these projectors,so If I have missed any points covered in the raft of replies then sorry. I think Barry B showed up the possible shortcomings of projectors. If you are running a decent front end (not a laptop),and there is a problem with the projector struggling to cope then it would indicate to me that there is some sort of 'buffer underrun'/'lack of memory problem' (techno freaks correct my termonology) there. I don't think that it's just as straight forward as that though. If you go to the Media player classic homecinema there is some insight into the 'tearing' problem. I have seen the effect you mention at my local camera club,as I have been given the job of replacing the old Sanyo DLP projector with something a bit more modern. I have looked at the program ReClock as maybe offering some help, but it's function is to work in the video domain though there might be some application for mp4 files.I don't know. There is some 'read me' information in the download there that gives some insight into what is involved to prevent video problems. I hate to say it for the purist photogs out there, but with all this panning and zooming you may just be technically Video Editors! So it may be that there is more to it than just the projector. Operating system,Hardware,Firmware,Software,Updates etc must come into play. The overall front end must be important and turning off a lot of background processes might (anti-virus etc)along with tweaking the PC help, especially with laptops. After that though even a high end PC may not rescue a struggling projector. Would be interesting to hear from someone in the know. Good luck with the problem. Think we may well be dabbling in the black art. It's not photography and it's not video. Certainly candidates for a weirdo fringe group and as such, would projector manufacturers care that 99.99% of users are happy? Davy
  8. Bill, That opens the door a bit wider. I can now choose from cheesy Elevator Muzak - ZZTop! Nothing I can do about the photos though. Thanks. Davy
  9. Hi Bill, Thanks for the kind offer. I think I need to spend a bit more time using and learning the ins and outs of PTE first though. Looking at some of the AV's here and on your site convince me of that. Just one question though.I thought that the music for these AV's had to be Copyright/royalty free. Are there exceptions? I am sure I will take you up on the offer, once I am happier with the end product. Regards, Davy
  10. Hi Ralph, Thanks. Henry VIII loved it,but Anne Boleyn...She just went head over heels. Oops. Davy
  11. Thanks Lin, I could have spent a few more days there easily. Davy
  12. Hi All, My first Post here and a link to Youtube where I uploaded a slideshow. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DbD1uoeUQZI I have been reading some of the posts on loading HD versions of slideshows onto Youtube. Thought I would give it a go and suprised that it worked. I didn't go for the 1600x1200,but one of the presets at a lower resolution. The pans and zooms at the end section where a bit distracting, but it is early days and in time with the Beta testers here, someone will get it right. I'm always suprised, that by deliberately not reading guides, instruction manuals, or Forum tips how often I get it wrong! Davy
