  1. Thank you to all As I don't want to pack 2 slideshows, I will then use a very basic solution : at slides 20 and 40 (the last slide of the first language slide set and the very last slide of the show), I write "End" and give solution to Quit (escape keystroke) or go again to first slide (Home Key)
  2. one slide This solution needs 2 shows to work. If I want only one show with both languages slides, I must be able to jump automatically to a given slide ... otherwise I have to put buttons to give the spectator a choice (go to last slide or go again to first one). I find this not very clean. Going automatically to last slide where french and english have choice to restart the show or end it is better. I don't, as well, use a utility and want to be able to manage all in only slideshow.
  3. Hi Ken No that is not possible. The show begins with a choice (french or english language) - If you choose french you jump to slide 21 and arrive to 40 where the slideshow ends. - If you choose english you go to slide 2, but when you arrive to slide 20 and go further, you will then "navigate" in the french section of slides. That's why I want an automatic jump to the last slide of the show.
  4. Here my problem - Slideshow with 40 slides (PTE v4.48) - manual navigation in this slideshow (navigation bar, keyboard or mouse) For a particular purpose, I want that, when the spectator arrives at slide 20 and that he wants to go further, the slideshow jumps automatically to slide number 40 (the last one). I only found "Run external application" but I want to stay in the same slideshow. I don't want buttons with "Go to slide number..." action.... It must be automatic. Have someone a solution ?
  5. Jean-Pierre (JPD) you "speak" very cleverly and I praise very much all your efforts to bring down the gates which limits the pleasure we can have "reading" a good slideshow and good photos. Just one remark. By chance, I have no problem to buy a graphic card which costs less than 100 dollars but what I hate overall is the arms race imposed by software creators thinking we have all the time and money to change every 6 months one or more of our PC component or upgrade drivers (with a great chance to have problems !!!) just to go ahead with there magnificent ideas ! Just an other point. If I change my graphic card then I will have problems because I will then be obliged to run tests on Hospitals PC's to be sure that my slideshows (all professionnel dedicated ones) can, in fact, be read as smoothly as on my home PC. Be sure that I then begin anew using Powerpoint !!! I realy don't understand why some have great problems to envision that all planet is not at their image or who takes their wants as realities !!!!
  6. Sorry Lin, but it is you that is not in touch with the reality and not me !!! Yes I have an "old" PC but the great majority of the PC users don't upgrade even just the drivers of there video card or the software they use. In my hospital Win 98 is the standard system (75%) and as I know we have a very good reputation and don't kill our patients because Vista will not be implemented before many years on the majority of our PC. Of course the hospital has more important things to do than run P2E slideshows but for universitary, communication or education purposes it can be .... instead of Powerpoint .... and we have Powerpoint 95 inplemented, but have no fear, we have scanners, pet scans, we do liver and heart transplantation, and so on !!! I will of course buy, in the next months, a new sytem (PC and his system) but I will after all be mindful of creating documents, executables, and so on ... which my correspondents wil be able to read with the same end result as the one I have on my proper PC ! You have a PC, drivers, software, system up to date ... but that is not the case of the majority of us !
  7. Hi Lin Until now everything works very fine on my PC (mostly office work), so that I have no intention to buy something which I will just need to read PTE V5 slideshows !!! But your idea is a good one. I will tell the informaticians of my Hospital where I work to buy new graphic cards for the hundreds of PC's running here and by the way ... buy a little bit memory and change Win 98 for XP (perhaps they are awaiting the Vista version !). So I will have a chance to share my future V5 slideshows with my colleagues ! JPD's Paris 3 D created from Canteau's one with PTE beta V5 runs very smoothly on my PC. So it is possible to have V5 slideshows running everywhere. Why not just then use basic rules instead buying new features ????
  8. Hello JPD and Canteau Fantastic job and shock result for your Paris 3 D The sensation of depth is truly unbelievable for some images (church interior, bridge, statues...). Well done ! Concerning the béta V5 version, all transitions are polished as silk A delight. Hello Ian Very good introduction shot and transition from B&W to color !! Unfortunately, this slideshow, done with the béta V5 of PTE, shows immediatly after, stuttering transitions, even for the simpliest of them (fade in and out) and finally, the show stops (... but the sound goes, unconcerned, on !) just after the image of the cannon in the boat. [AMD Athlon 1.01 GHZ, SDRAM 512 MB, NVIDIA GEFORCE 2MMX, 32MB Video memory]
  9. Hello Great shots This slideshow stutters from beginning to the end (about 200 to 300 little stops for the panorama !). Only the scrolling of text behaves smoothly Few members are replying (very few non english in particularily comment) to those tests and those who reply are selected one. Such a test is nonsense and has strictly no scientific value ! AMD Athlon 1.01 GHZ SDRAM 512 MB NVIDIA GEFORCE 2MMX, 32MB Video memory
  10. Thank you very much Jean-Pierre. As you I praise PTE (my numerous slideshows are there as pieces of evidence !) and I hope I will continue to be able to do so with the future V5... It is nonsense to create public slideshows just for happy fews and I am happy you, and others, work hard to find some simple and easy rules (... and public ones, and not on confidential sites) so that every body can "read" the new coming shows. I too will change my PC one day, but, concerning informatics, as every body knows, be up to date is only valide for a few months Patrick
  11. Hello Jean-Pierre Very smooth too on my old PC This slideshow and your "Fantaisie florale" give me some hope that the finalized V5 can create other shows than epileptogenic one !
  12. It is a very kind attention ! "Fantaisies florales" (V1 and V3) is the very first slideshow created with the beta V5 which runs smoothly as silk and that, on my antique and beloved 2 chevaux ! All the others downloadable here or on Beechbrook Cottage site behave more or less jerky and some are totally unreadable for me. In short ... headache guaranteed
  13. No What I say is that I prefer my 2 chevaux with wich I can go every where, every day, instead of a Formula 1 I can only use one day in the year ... the day I rent a race car circuit
  14. Hello Al No, this is not the accustomed solution in use here in France (and internationaly as I know) for medical meetings, courses or refresher courses. DVD's are limited for individual usage. In most cases, we use Powerpoint shows in wich we incorporate photos, Excel diagrams and even video sequences. PTE gives much more image quality but special transitions effects have to be avoided so that they can be run on all PC's, even very tired one !
  15. Hello Lin I didn't make test but each time I tried to launch beta V5 slideshows there are problem... so I don't download them anymore or very seldomly at special demand (JPD for example). I am working in a universitary hospital where there must be 500 or more PC, 75% or so are equipped with Win98 and the others with WinXP. 50% have a screen resolution of 800/600 and the others, above. I don't know exactly the hardware specifications but this is of poor interest for me because what count's is the end result : beta V5 new features are nonsense for me as they don't work properly in most cases, PTE 4.48 run's without problem My conclusions are very basic... I forget beta V5 slideshows and only concentrate on 4.48 one. So I am sure that my slideshows designed for professional goals can be read by everyone.
  16. Hello Lin It is a misunderstanding as my remark was just to pinpoint your great optimism concerning smoothness of slideshows created with beta V5. These assertions are very far from truth ! One of the first problem the creator of beta V5 made projects is : is it stuttering or not ? does it "flow" smootly ? ... and that, with poor hardware or very recent one. As I know, Jean-Pierre released AVI slideshows along with beta V5 exe just so that those who encounter stuttering can have an idea of what he has done with the new features of PTE. His primary goal was not to offer multiple file types of one slideshow !
  17. Happy are the sightless persons !!!!
  18. ... because it is highly polemical ... are you so sure !!!! Congratulations for your peace of mind ! But be sure I stop posting for a while as, apart autocongratulation, other opinions are suspect. I don't have Windows 98 ! Sans rancune, ciao !
  19. For sure not if half the spectators (or more) can no more comfortably read the slideshows As you know these votings are of very poor interest as only a very few number of members (how many voted this time ?) reply and those who reply are probably not representative as they belong to the very small number of us who is implicated enough to give an opinion ! What about the vast majority who just read posts and never express there meaning ? 50% !!!! A very very questionable number ! ... see above ! More or less your want Yes but as I know we are in 2006 and not in 2008 or 2009 ! There are too many softwares released for future end users, forgotting we are not living in the future but at the present time. What interest to know I will surely be able to read all shows in 3 years ? Sadly PTE is taking this winding way Yes but until now PTE could not do all what others did more or less good but what it did was excellent and that's why I choose PTE and not the others. With V5 the product will be a bit better as the others but that's all. It than will have lost all what did his charm and interest ; powerfull for what it is intended to do, no need of a big help document, predictable effects on the end user PC, and so on Some members insinuate I have no gratefulness for all you and your staff do... on what basis do they say that ? I invite them to read all I said until now ! I find PTE a great product and my numerous slideshows (more than 50 publicly released in 2 years and half of them still downloadable here) are here to attest it. Some are good, many are not but I had always pleasure to to them as PTE was never a boring software as some can be. If it had be the case I never had taken time to create them !!! It is a pity that some members are just applausing to each novelty and criticize those who have an other opinion !!! It takes time for me to write each post as I have to translate from french to english what I want to say. Do these honorable members are thinking I have nothing else to do ? Do they think that I do so if PTE had no interest for me ?
  20. Why not a Mercedes but if there is a need of a new driving licence, if I have to change all my cloths, go to the hairdressers and to be a vegetarian... then my response will be clearly no and I will continue to drive my Citroen (by the way.. excellent cars !)
  21. Until now everyone can read all kind of slideshow made with PTE... in the future there will be 3 types of spectators... - a few one for which every slideshow will run smoothly - a great number who will experience more or less stutter - a great number who will be enable to read slideshows with the new demanding transitions Where is progress ????? If you are happy with such a highly probable issue than ... you are probably in the first group... Congratulations !
  22. Hello Igor Sorry but when I read all messages here and else about the test version and the multiple "little" problems which make looking a slideshow made with PTE be sometimes a feet of engineering, I can have reasonnable doubts for the end version !!! Ken, my Kodak brownie is an old history ... but once I have changed motherboard, video card, resolution... then I have to update my system, have a look on my Direct X version, update my video card drivers, etc ... and endly lauch the slideshow, hopping everything goes smoothly... If not, then I will have to verify my video card parameters and probably tweak them ..... A true enchantment
  23. Until now, creating a slideshow with PTE was quiet and economic ($24) ... in the future, just open your purse to change motherboard, video card, perhaps windows system and why not monitor and so on .... and think about changing your glasses and take aspirin before viewing a slideshow !!!!!!
  24. Sorry ! I watched again my Kai Tak slideshow and found that something was wrong. The initial show was made with a PTE version of early 2004 and had the fade in/out effect per default. I recompiled it a few months ago with a more recent PTE version ... and fade in/out version + advanced hour hand where checked as default transitions. I corrected this problem and you will find a clean version of this slideshow at the link I gave above (corrected show) Be indulgent as this was one of my very first slideshow made with PTE and was composed with a great number of photos from numerous sources. Resolution 1024/768
  25. Hello Gail Thank you very much for your interest for this slideshow. You will find it here
