  1. Very interesting, I'll experiment a bit with this. Also, just found all your other styles - brilliant! Thanks, V
  2. Hi Lin, As you say the background is as it is and can't be changed, but good to have this confirmed. No problem, I can work around it. What I was looking for was the same facility as in Photoshop where you can change the working background to whatever you want. I find this makes it easier to adjust the brightness/contrast of an image so that it looks the same on the final output. In this case, if I edit on a black background it will appear pretty close to the original in the final output where the background will be black. I'm also going to add a subtle grey border that will define the edge of the image, although by using Pans and Zooms this might not be necessary as there will be detail in the picture that will show the edge. Anyway, all experimental at this stage and great to have these extra tools in PTE 9, it's a powerful piece of kit. Thanks again to you, DaveGee and MUR for your input, it's been interesting. Best, V
  3. Hi Lin, Been back and checked and it's definitely set to black. It's the grey area directly outside the image that I wanted black. If I zoom out of the image I can see a black surround, this being the area I can adjust. I notice in your video that the area outside the black box surrounding the image is also grey. It is this space I am trying to change, but I'm starting to suspect that this might not be possible? Thanks again for your efforts to sort it, it's appreciated. V
  4. Hi Lin, Yes, I've tried all you suggest, but no joy. When I preview the image/images I get the solid black background I am after, but I'm trying to have it in the editing stage (please see attached). It's the grey area around the image I'm trying to adjust, as I find it easier to work with borders that way. My thanks. V
  5. Yes, checked all that. I'm trying to get a solid black background to surround the whole image and by changing the aspect ratio I can partially achieve this but not with a 3:2 ratio, which is what I'm using. I can work around it but just I might be missing something. Thanks, V
  6. Hi, Just downloaded the latest version of PTE and wondered if it was possible to change the background color around the image while in Objects and Animation (it's mid-grey at the moment). I think I remember being able to change it in previous versions but not this one (unless I'm missing something very obvious, which is likely!) Thanks.
  7. That all makes more sense to me, even though I have had a good bit of support on this from Vimeo I am a little confused by some of the information they have given. Another point they have made is - 'We do recommend color data even for black and white videos. This is to ensure the black and white values/ranges get transferred properly to the Vimeo playback versions.' As they had checked the file in question and found 'no color information within the video's data (Color Range, Color Primaries, etc)' I thought this might be causing the issue, but would there be any color information on a b&w video anyway? Checked the video on another PC running Microsoft Edge and there is still a little difference, ME looking more like the original file than on Chrome, although not as pronounced as on my main PC. Vimeo had suggested re-encoding the video with color data using a program like 'Handbrake', which I might try just out of curiosity. As a workaround I'll adjust the images and find a happy medium between the browsers. Thanks Igor.
  8. Hi, A PTE show I uploaded to Vimeo as an MP4 video is looking a little light, washed out and unlike the source file. This is only happening when viewed using Chrome or Firefox. On IE it looks absolutely fine, and also on various media players. I'm also getting a message after the upload saying that the file is only averaging a 8,000 bit rate and below what Vimeo recommends. This is odd as the setting I chose in the conversion to MP4 process was 20,000 (please see attached screenshot of settings). So not sure if that would have any bearing on the lightness issue. Really scratching my head on this one. Any ideas on what is happening here would be appreciated. V
  9. It seems that I should have converted to Gray Gamma 2.2, all looks as it should now. My thanks for all the support.
  10. Here are two samples, both of which look identical in Photoshop. Although in just uploading them, and seeing the difference, it has become apparent that it not likely to be an issue in PTE. I think I need to go back and check the conversion to Grayscale process. My thanks for the replies.
  11. Yes, converting in PS CS5. Through the conversion process to b&w I have kept all the files as sRGB. I've been having some issues with the show looking 'lighter' when uploaded to Vimeo, so thought I would try some Grayscale images, which is where I discovered the issue of them looking darker in PTE. VB
  12. Hi, I'm working on a show of b&w images that have been loaded as RGB files. I've noticed that when I convert them to Grayscale images and load then into the show they appear a lot darker than the source file. I'm using the Deluxe version 8.0.17. Would anyone be able to shine some light on why this is happening? Thanks
  13. I think the problem was that I loaded the project from an external hard drive instead of copying it to the laptop. The backup zip route certainly seems to be the easiest way. Thanks to you and Lin for the help.
  14. Hi Lin, Sorry for not being clearer, what was happening was that when I tried to load the project into P2E all I was getting was the title pages and an error message saying 'file not found' where the images should have been, although all the pan & zoom settings were still there. I had tried creating a 'backup in Zip' but the same thing was happening but have since created another Zip file and copied this over to the laptop and everything is now there. Must have been a glitch in the process somewhere (me I should think!) Would also just like to say thank you for your tutorials - they are excellent and a big help. Vince
  15. Hello, I know this topic has come up before but I still can't seem to resolve it. I have installed P2E (latest version) on my laptop, along with a slideshow created with the same version on another computer but when I open it the files are missing, even though I have them open in P2E. Any help would be appreciated - thanks. Vince
