OT: Sharing your PTE Slide Shows

Hi folks,

since I moved to a mac platform a year ago, I have been going through my pte projects to produce mac versions, mainly for my own enjoyment ;-) but also sharing them here on the forum. In the past, as hard nailed Windows user, I created exe's or zipped exe's and never bothered with creating mac app versions - unless someone asked me to. Which occasionally they did.

May I humbly suggest that, as it is now so easy to create both win and mac versions, everyone should? Sites like Mediafire are free and it only takes a few minutes more to upload the win and mac versions. By doing this you are increasing the potential audience numbers. And is this not one of the main reasons PTE forum members post their work here, so that people can watch and offer feedback?

The reason this came to mind was that I saw that Lakelandlass has posted new show to beechbrook. I have always enjoyed her shows and am downloading it now. But in order to watch it I will have to start up Windows on my mac and transfer the file. It would be so much easier if I could just download a mac version. I must make it clear that this is not intended as any disrespect to lakelandlass!

So; what do you think? Can we encourage more feedback by offering our shows in both win and mac formats?

My take on this request is, I wouldn't upload both PC & Mac versions of my shows because of their size now I'm using video extensively. My ISP allowance for internet usage per month is 10GB, that would soon be eaten up if I posted both versions, it is now, considering the current rate I churn out shows. However, there's always an however, If a Mac user wanted a particular show I'd produced, & I wasn't near the end of my months' usage, I would consider the request. Another option would be to send them on a CD or DVD by snailmail. BTW Mark, the "free" limit for storage on Mediafire is 50GB & a 200MB per upload, there is info elsewhere on here about increasing that for a modest sum. See scroll down to the mediafire screenshot.

Hi Mark

Have you got your entry in for thr NIPA festival? Whilst there isn't a direct award for your type of AV, if there is enough interest from "slideshow" makers, the committee will seriously consider how they can be catered for better in the future.

10gb per month! How on earth can you cope with that?

My download limit on ADSL2+ was 400gb per month, but my ISP gave me a new ADSL2+ plan last year, unlimited downloads per month for AU $50 or about £34. I probably use up to about 1TB monthly. If I post AV's I'll maybe use even more.

John

One of the joys of living in England & using BT. However, I very rarely get any ISP failures like I got using other providers.
