  1. Hey, I always appreciate these public discussions. This is how we learn beyond the FAQ. Now Guido, are you saying you did the same as Ernst but you used Accoustica MP3 mixer as Ernst used Total Recorder?

It seems that such a method would allow us to take the midi sounds from a high quality board and preserve them to sound much better on a pc with a lesser board than they might sound as midi on a cheap sound card? Do you two agree?

  2. I think Bart deserves both thanks and a well deserved "plug" here. While this PTE forum was "out of business", it was a great help and comfort to me to be able to log onto bart's site Bart and Cindy's Portal to learn what was going on with our PTE forum. Others who were able to get in contact with Igor were able to share their helpful info with anyone who was aware or remembered bart's site. I'm sure it took a special effort by Bart to be so helpful too as he was doing a major upgrade of his site when PTE went down. So, my hat is off to Bart and I suggest others who have not yet been there, should get acquainted. Who knows, we may have an emergency again, and in the meantime there is a fine site with good information waiting. And of course an eager-to-help webmeister. Thanks bart :):D :D

  3. Bothell, we all understand your concern. The "firm" is very dedicated "Igor" and staff in Russia. They are very occupied with making the program continually better and still try to keep the business details working too. The problem you are having is not "usual" but it is also not rare enough. You can be sure however that there is no evil intent to defraud you and you will get your key. Someday, someone, will be the almost last one to have this problem.

  4. No Beth, your photos are not very secure. There are users who want the photos to be easily copied for their purposes and others who of course need to protect their work. Igor has done a nice job of accomodating both desires - BUT - it is the nature of the beast that it is quite easy, with little "research" to copy photos that were desired to be protected. Most anything that is on the screen can quite easily be copied. So the approach that some take is to try to make the photo somehow less desireable by using lower resolution or smaller pictures or watermarking etc. There is some excellent advice in the old forum messages which will probably be available soon. And maybe those who have shared their extensive experience with the issue will jump in here anyway.

  5. I have mixed feelings on this subject. I certainly agree with Ernst's intent. I also find my experience to agree with the thoughts of Harold and Boxig. I agree it is handy to look for a specific answer in some cases. But most of what I have learned in PTE forum, I have learned inadvertantly. I have learned much without ever first knowing there was even something to learn or even a possible question.

Sure it sometimes gets tiresome to read the same questions over and over. But I also find it very easy to quickly pass over an item if my circumstances suggest it is not of relevance or interest to me. And there are so many helpful people in this forum, that if a particular expert is tired of answering a repeated question, there is probably a newly educated user who is happy to share their newly gained knowledge on that question.

If Igor does make some changes in this regard, it might take some time and patience and maybe some evolving of the system until it reaches the best combination of methods.

  6. Harold, whenever I come up with an idea like yours, I too then wonder "am I missing something.?" And maybe we are, but my first reaction to your idea is "ahaa! why not?" It sounds good to me. I do hope some of our serious tech PTE users can either endorse or point out that we are missing something. Then Igor would have another fun challenge to keep him interested. :D

  7. I agree Michel. It did seem that the flow of fun new shows on Beechbrook pretty much dried up while the forum was shut down. Maybe we should prepare for a flood of new work soon. I , like you, really enjoy the variety of talents, places, people, etc. that are shared.

  8. Hey Tripstrilles - Your english is plenty good. We like "bad" english here. I mean it is great that we can have input from around the world because members like you are willing to write english. It seems most everyone also enjoys seeing the shows from all over the world. So when you have a show to share, we are ready.
