  1. Dear All, Hit a small problem at the weekend. We wanted to use P2E as background presentation for a CD launch concert, but couldn't do 2 things: 1. Hold the first image of the .exe file on the screen 2. Begin the presentation from this standing start (without messages . cursors etc. appearing) Is this possible to do? So that the audience doesn't see the techie stuff on screen? To get around this we did try launching P2E from Powerpoint (which is possible to do via a hyperlink and a bit of a comprimise) but then windows gives a "some files are not safe message" which we couldn't get rid of. Any suggestions, should we have to go down this route again?
  2. Igor! Text effects! Wow now we're talking. We love you ..
  3. Hi Igor, I have waited a long time for this effect, it may not be possible (if your magic wand is away for calibration, I understand!): 1. The ability to start a transition and then (using the timeline) overlap the following transition into it. Example 1: Slide one - set for SLIDE transition effect Slide two - quick transition Then overlap the second slide to about 75% of the way through the push so that (wham!) at 3/4 of the way through CUTS to the next slide. Why would you want to do this? To create an animation effect that would, say, allow water to appear to rise and then stop (at 75% of the way up the screen). (obviously, the background would have to be plain in this case, but you get the idea). The 'part' transition gives the effect of animation with clever modification of the slides. Example2: Slide one - set for diagnonal WIPE effect. Slide two - quick transition Allow overlap from 25% of first slide. Then repeat the effect from (or to) each corner [i.e. make a 90 deg change] to create an effect that would generate an un-wiped 'square' (in theoory) area in the middle of the slide. Why would you want to do this? To leave a square area un-changed in the middle of a slide. Let's face it the possibilities are enormous! And could definitely put an effect like this to immediate use. Many existing movement effects would create additional effects for those of us who wish to experiment with 'psuedo'animation using P2E. 2. The next logical step (from stopping a transition part way through) would be to have some way of STARTING a transition part way through. 3. Ability to decide the start or finish co-ordinates for the CIRCLE in/out effect Here's hoping it's a possible. Thanks. (whispers: "Igor .. you can take your head out of your hands now.")
  4. Dear Igor, Two important suggestions when using the START UP WINDOW: 1. I understand that you can alter the window box headings (from the Messages TAB in Project Options) and this is good, however there is a problem: The Window doesn't auto adjust it's size when the text is larger than the space given for the titles, and therefore, gets cut off or hidden by the boxes. This is a shame as it could be much more useful. 2. Start Up Window. I find this very useful for beginning AV presentations by leaving alone the Mouse (or pad if laptop) and simply pressing RETURN to begin. This eliminates the mouse cursor being seen. But, an excellent improvement would be to be able to make the SU Window a darker colour so it is less obvious to the public when on projector screen(good for fade-from-black beginnings). Keep up the good work. J G
  5. Thanks. I think I've resolved it now.. The Fuji software that comes with the camera has the option to insert the data directly onto the picture, which is exactly what I want. I didn't just want a feature in P2E such as comment, as it doesn't 'burn' into the image, just over-lays it, if you like. I haven't seen it work yet, however, so we'll see - but thanks for collective wisdom! J G
  6. Thanks. Putting the DATE and TIME on manually is not really what I want. As you say I can do that myself with any Photo Editting software. I'm really talking about batch / auto tagging the image, so that if it is copied / transferred / or modified the image contains the Date & Time. The reason this is important, is for Medical Records purposes. P2E is a great presentation tool, but this tagging I mention becomes crucial for lots of similar images. Hope you can help. J G
  7. Another shot at this one.. Anyone know if there is a way to take the file Time & Date and stamp it onto the image? A good software resommendation would be helpful.. So far I have tried some software called 'Set Name to Time' from www.storcksoftware.com which gets me part way there. But I can't help feeling there is a more complete solution. ? J G
  8. I'm sure there are dozens of utilities for this function out there... Who can recommend the best? I want (minimal effort) tag the images with DATE and TIME stamp, so that there is no danger it gets altered in the file details and gets lost. All low tech. but effective, solutions considered. What problems may I encounter? Thanks J G
  9. Just jumping back to original question.. I would love you forever if we could easily shift / copy / paste blocks of slides on the timeline right there in P2E. I do AV with repeating song verses and when the hard work of getting the timing spot on first time (1st chorus) has to be repeated 2 or 3 times more in the old pain staking way it's frustrating. Go for it - I would be VERY interested. J G
  10. Thanks for all the wisdom. Photoshop is great for cross-fading, and I have adopted that into this same presentation. What I am hoping to achieve is actually sliding using P2Es excellent new PUSH slide features. Then (during the process) *cutting to another slide at the appropriate moment* to create a simple animation effect. Then picking up the push (or better starting a new slide that's engineered to look like the old one at this point) and making it seem seamless (ha). It's my dream Unfortunately, I think it is something beyond the boundaries of P2E just for now. All of the above I can do, except for the * * (see above), I suspect. Add it to my wish list Igor. Thanks guys J G
  11. I wonder if anyone could tell me if HALF a transition is possible yet with P2E? Let me explain. I want an effect which pushes a new image part way into an existing one, say 3/4s, then cut to another slide. This would give me the possibility of a great effect. I'll show you if I can do it. Weird, I know. Any thoughts? (PS well done to Ken) J G
  12. In addition to everyone else's comments about zooming and panning, here's my wish list: 1.) Zooming into a picture and then discovering another scene. Like that thing where they start in outer-space and zoom into the earth, a country, a city, a house, somebody's bowl of rice crispies, etc. The zoom being the key feature (not the space travel). 2.) I would also like to endorse the request to move barches of slides together on the time-line. And dupliate them (while retaining the group timing).. like a copy and paste. This would be great for repeating choruses in songs where the images largely repeat and need to remain in exact sequence and time. This would save hours of presentation development work! 3.) This is the biggie! I have been playing with a fabulous piece of software called Stitcher (3.1) which takes a simple sequence of 360 degree digital photos and quite seemlessly 'knits them together as well as doing panoramics by doing what it says on the tin and 'stitching them' together. I am very impressed This is very much like the 360 deg. tour options that you often find in websites for stately homes, etc., but withoout the need for hugely fancy photo equipment This would be a fantastic option to incorporate in P2E - am I just dreaming here, Igor? If P2E could pan, zoom, rotate in this kinda of 360 deg. environment. That's it, by the way ... Love the work you've done so far - everytime I re-visit P2E it just gets better & better. J G PS (for info) Stitcher 3.1 (full program) can be found on the Windows XP (Official Magazine) DVD [edition 37 Nov 2004, UK] worth £386. The more recent release of the software is a tad more pricey at $580 for (v4.0) - but upgrades maybe possible. Not sure if this is helpful for the guys in the US http://www.windowsxpmagazine.co.uk/magazine/ For those of you that want to look at what may (come on Igor, please!) be possible. Samples of 360-degree tours can be found on the Stitcher product website, look under the SHOWCASE section. (I particularly liked the ones at the bottom of the showcase page): http://www.realviz.com/products/showcase.p...d=56&product=st
  13. Result! Thanks for that pointer - indeed I had lost a transition at the end of the pres. (never noticed those numbers on the custom screen before.. ) The forum helpline comes good once again! Thanks 'cc' Hope I can return the favour sometime.. J G
  14. Hello, This relates to AVI / Video file generation from P2E. I get the message "not enough transition points" on a project that has at least 50 slides and this is the second time it has occured. Previously I gave up trying to convert another presentation that had 75 transitions for the same reason. Starting to wonder if I'm looking at a bug here - as the message on the previous presentation has now cleared! (Puzzled) At first I thought it might be because my MP3 file was located in another folder to the images but I corrected that & no difference.. What are the parameters for the above error message to appear? The pop up box doesn't give me enough useful information - just directs to project options - which I use to access the timeline anyway on a regular basis. Have tried closing down program etc. Any help gratefully received - Thanks! J G ----------------------- P2E v4.2 Music = 04:48s 50 slides 54 transistions 1024 x 768 System 3.2GHz RAM 1Gb etc. ----------------------- P.S. I placed a similar post in the AVI section on the original occasion - but no joy yet.
  15. If there was a manual I'd read it - so the next best thing is to post for some cyber space wisdom... Am trying to get to burn SVCD - but get a message of 'not enough transitions' - I thought that 75 would be plenty! (music track is 5.5 minutes). The message apears when press the AVI (video) button on P2E. Not had this message before and a little surprised by it (to be honest). The help file on P2E is woefully short of info for this problem.. Any wisdom?
  16. Hi Eric, Your PC sounds like a clone of my new PC! Despite flying also, I have had some problems with burning using Nero - everything seems to work just fine during the burn, (SVCD), but when I come to play either in the 'puter's player or the one hooked up to my TV - I just cannot get the thing to play. The DVD player says 'NO PLAY', although the start up screen is there. Am converting MPEG1 files too with little success. Just bobbing along clicking the buttons when asked. I am correct in thinking that it is ok to burn to a normal CD with the SVCD option? And that this should be the best to play on most players without a problem? This is all new to me so forgive my ignorance - am on a learning curve!! Any pointers, gratefully received!! J G
  17. Igor - this is why I love this software! Everyone gets to contribute I like all the suggestions so far.. so will keep quiet(ish) for now, but would love to be able to move and copy wholesale areas of presentations (keeping the slide formats etc.) to different parts of the time-line. (may be this is what the 'dark table' is for - pardon my ignorance on this - not tried it yet). This would be excellent for repeating parts of presentations (cloning) esp when repeating choruses in song connected images ;0) Well done and thank you! J G
  18. Thanks for this post. It solved an on-going problem (er.. 'challenge') for me too. What nice timing gee I love you guys! JG
  19. Sorry if this is an 'old chestnut' - but I have a photographer friend who needs some advice on this.. Do the .exe files run in the Mac environment? What about P2E? If not any ways around this? Many thanks - oh wise and elustrious council.. (did I spell that right?) J G
  20. I third that! I too have tried other products such as Medi@show, but have genuinely found that the responsiveness of the team from Wnsoft is beyond compare. I feel listened to, and any gripes (of which there are few! ) are resolved very quickly. Yes, the continuing upgrades are fantastic, but the community of people prepared to give their own time free to people who are learning (such as my self) is truly awesome. Another software house would probably overlook that most important asset we can all share. Hats off J G
  21. Here's another idea for the cat - http://www.fish-byte.com/ I have tried this screensaver on my PC and it is unbelievably realistic!! You can trial it for free and just see what I mean. Perhaps good enough to fool the cat too? Worth a try! J G
  22. In contrast to a number of people, Alan, I actually quite liked the way that you used the mermaid + anchor to frame the pictures... It didn't distract me at all, just helped me find the mood. Sadly not a purist, I too like to experiment. Some times rewarding, others not - but always a learning experience! On the occasion that I can get a presentation or two up on the site - I expect a few tomatoes (as long as they're not in tins, eh ) Loved the photos too.. look forward to the next effort! J G
