  1. Ken, Due to facing a few major computer problems created by me fiddling with things I am not too sure about, I tend to leave things alone unless I know what I am doing with them and why. Your suggestion worked fine. I did set the slides to 80% to try. Lukily enough I have some rewriteable dvd's so was able to use them to try my effects. I do not know why but I do not seem able to do VCD. I go to the video button then in the other box click on vcd, I also have the sharpness filter, Ulead and Interlace boxes ticked. I click the create avi, when it is done i go to Ulead Movie Factory 3 (Trial). not clicking the finish button. In Ulead I click on the vcd and do all the other gubbins but when I go to Add Video File I keep getting a message "The created file is not accessible". I have just ignored it and not even tried to do a vcd as I have not been able to figure this one out......... May be something simple The dvd I have burned is a bit jittery but i suspect that is to do with Ulead rather than EXE. If you do have any ideas about the vcd I would love to hear them. Thank you for your help, Glenys
  2. Hello, I have tried to create a DVD of a family trip for members who do not have a computer but do have a DVD player. On the .exe show I have a background and on one of the slides I have used the object editor to create a small descriptive text. The text spreads over the sides of the slide into the background which gives me the effect I want in .exe. But when I burn the show to a DVD it only appears to burn the actual slide to fill the tv screen and I loose the background, also the slide I have created with the overlapping text is full screen like all the other slides and I loose the text either side that runs into the background. Oh the background is there and shows when a slide plays in vertical position. I have saved my slides at 1024x768. Are my slides too big at this resolution? Is it right that I lose the background when I burn a DVD? Also the DVD when it is played onto a TV is shaking, Is this to do with the DVD burning program of have i not set something up properly in PTE? I am setting everything up as PAL. for the UK. Any ideas anyone please. Thank you.
  3. Thanks Ken for replying. During today I have downloaded another trial copy of Ulead DVD Movie factory, deleted the old one and reinstalled the new. I tried to do a VCD of my show but when I asked Ulead to open up the created file by PTE it gave me the message "is not accissible". I closed it in PTE and tried again, and asked Ulead to make a DVD. Again it told me the file was not accessible. So next I saved the file as an AVI and was able to open it into Ulead and burn it as a DVD. I am so disapointed with the result. The quality is so poor, It appears that PTE only saved the picture show not the background in the AVI file so all the surrounding area of backdrop was lost loosing a lot of the effect. The Exe show I was so very happy with but the reason for me wanting to do a DVD is my mum and two cousins do not have computers. Am I doing something wrong or is it hopeless to expect as good a show on a vcd or dvd. I am tired now been at it two days trying to fathom it all out. There may be a simple answer but if anyone can tell me where i am going wrong, please do. Oh the sound is ok now! Glenys
  4. I have just started all over again and once more ulead dvd movie factory 3 is telling me that the pte .avi file is not accessible. I am really getting into this program and created an exe file, and now want to try the dvd. So cannot even check the sound this time. What's going on. I see some other folk appear to have had problems version 3 before. Glenys
  5. I have created an avi file to create a DVD in Ulead movie factory 3 trial and i have PTE 4.20. Firstly Ulead would not accept my file, then for some strange reason (Probobly the swear words aimed at it), it loaded the recreated file. BUT........ I went through the stages to create the DVD but for some reason my sound file is no good........... ?? coming down from PTE. It plays about the first few seconds and stops. No problem with the picture files. I did carry on and burn a disc. The slide show worked but the sound just played that first few seconds over and over and over and well you get the picture. It is an MP3 file created in cool edit. Any thoughts please. I am not sure if it is a problem with the prog creating the .avi or the biggest problem, namely me doing something wrong or having something set up all wrong. Thank heavens for this forum and all you techies out there. Glenys
  6. I have had another idea that I will ask you the experts about. I think I may know the answer to it but I am still learning about the program hence asking you all. Can a small AVI file be included into a picture show somehow. Like a recorded introduction to the picture show. Or would it be like two gear wheels turning in oposite directions coming together and sending sparks and bits of metal everywhere. Thank you Glenys
  7. Thank you all for your replies. I have played around some more and think I have got it.......... Managed a small show for myself and now that I have registered will look into building some bigger ones. Next thing is to try looking at the Flash program and maybe the scrolling text one. Great fun. Thank you to the gentleman who has written the program. Glenys
  8. Hello everyone, I am sorry for possibly reinventing the wheel........ I am new to PTExe and only a novice in photoshop. I have downloaded the trial version of PTExe and had a good play around with it and I am about to register. I have watched the excelent presentation "create slideshows" and I have a lot of ideas for creating my own shows BUT I do not understand how to import or create the psd files into the PTExe program when it wants bmp jpeg etc. I understand the creating of layers and can see how that works in photoshop but surely to create a jpeg from photoshop the image would have to be flattened and those layers are lost. I see there has to be a way of doing it but I cannot see it. Can someone guide me in simpleton terms....... Dont all shout at me at once please. Glenys
