  1. Jim I did have a short fiddle with Audacity, but did not seem able to save MP3's and lost patience with it. I think I will have to look at it again and take the time to learn it when this trial period for Audition runs out, which I think is imminent. Mind you I managed to find out how to do a few things in this audition package, so surely I can manage to handle audacity if I take my time and knuckle down to it. There is always something new to learn! Things are not too bad here, the weather has warmed up a little at last. Glenys
  2. Ah, thank you Jim for your answer to my question. So it is for extra tracks, like a voice-over. I am in the process of building a new show and have put a voice over to it, but like you, because it was to cover a couple of slides I have been playing with Audition adding the voice-over to the sound track. What a fiddle. I have learned quite a lot about Audition, pitty it is only a trial copy. I will now try this feature out in PTE This program gets better and better.
  3. Hello all you experts again. I am slowly trying to learn to use some of the other features of PTE. Trying to be brave and get away from just the basics. There is one feature I can not quite see how it works, or what it does exactly. In Project Options, Music Tab, there is a small tick box at the bottom of the page, "Don't interrupt sound comment when next slide appears". When and how is this feature used and what does it do???? At first I thought it was to do with an extra sound track, i.e. Voice over, but I know you have to add that to a slide from the front screen. Can anyone explain this feature to me.... Thank you
  4. I have just uploaded another small slide show, so put on your dancing shoes, grab your partners and, Oh, watch my show. I hope you enjoy it. Glenys
  5. Thank you Igor, I am quite pleased it wasn't all my fault! Keep up the briliant work, I find it a fantastic program and still have a lot to learn. I use a lot of the basics but have not yet experimented with some of the features. Thank you for writing it and continuing to improve it.
  6. Hi igor me again Igor I think I have been an absolute idiot!!!!!! I have not saved the show in between. Now I have tried again and saved the show before I have previewed and it works fine......... Please forgive my senility, I am getting more grey hairs but losing the grey cells. I had a feeling it must be something I was doing or not doing. Sorry for worrying you. I will now crawl back into my little hole and die
  7. Igor. I find that if I set my slides at 4 secs each in the custom Synchronization they are playing at about 17 secs in preview, even though they play at the 4sec speed in the play window. I have done as you suggested and created a show and the slides still play at about 17 seconds each even though they are still set at 4 seconds in the custom synchronised window. I have tried ticking both the custom sychronisation and the not synchronised boxes and both act the same. I am worried that it is something that I am doing because nobody else seems to be haveing this problem. What am i doing wrong that is different to the setups that I have done before on the previous versions. Thank you
  8. Igor , I did post this as a new thread but see someone else appears to have had what seems to be a similar problem... I am wondering if i am going to have to reformat my hard drive as well unless you have any other suggestions. I have not created a show because I was just trying to look at the preview of what I had done so far to see if it was developing correctly. I have started to set up a slide show for practice in the new version after deleting the old version. Then when I click on customize synchronisation and set up my slide to the length of time I require. i.e 4 or 6 seconds etc, then play the piece in preview the slides are holding for a much longer time. i.e a 4 sec slide is holding for about 12 sec in preview. If I watch them in the small window when I press play, they appear as I wish them to appear. I have not got all the slides in place yet to fill the waveform, but that did not matter before I could keep checking the preview as I went along. Am I missing something in the set up with the new version or is there a slight problem with the prog. I have not noticed anyone else mentioning it yet so it could be me. Any ideas guys please. Glenys
  9. Has anyone had this problem in the new 4.40 version. I have started to set up a slide show for practice in the new version after deleting the old version. 10. Thank you gentlemen for your input. That was what I was thinking about trying to do, start a discussion topic going. It was curiosity to see how other people started to create there masterpieces. I will have a good look at the topic from October. Glenys
  11. Hello everyone, I sit and watch in awe at many of the presentations that have been produced by PTE users. When I usually start, I get my pictures into photoshop and with my limited knowledge, "which has improved since using PTE, but a lot still to learn" I tend to get the pictures together find some music and produce the show. It may only take me a few hours to do the show production. I have read some threads where folk have said they take 6 to 8 months to produce a show. As for sound I have everything to learn....... My question in general is: How do you all start to put your shows together? Do you just put the slides together in the program and hope they look good, or do you all produce a story board and work on that for a long time to plan the look of the show? I am interested as I especially want to improve my efforts. So how do you all start?
  12. Thank you Fred, so many programs will not let you open then again when they are already open. I never gave it a thought to try that. It worked. Glenys
  13. I am sorry to be reinventing the wheel I have tried looking for the answer to this but began to become befuddled with all the information, and did not find exactly what I wanted. I have been asked if I can put two or three slide shows together onto one DVD for a friend. I know about opening the video file and creating the avi file and then leaving the little box open whilst you open the dvd program and burn it etc. then closing the create avi box in Pte. But that is for one file. I am not sure though how you can create several avi files to open in the DVD prog, or if you can in any way. Is there a way? I know that the avi file is a temp file and disappears when you close the Pte avi box down. Do I need to put all the slide shows into one long slide show and put a couple of blank slide in to separate them, and how about the different sound files, do they need to be manipulated and joined to fit all the shows? Or is there an easier way? Thank you Glenys Cooke
  14. Hello everyone, I have put together another short picture show following our trip to the U.S. this summer. We all know the tune, but thought it might be of interest to show the place. I found the music, and even after editing it a bit, I was still short of photos. Some have been captured from video so the quality is not excellent. Hope you enjoy it anyway. Glenys
  15. Thank you Al, Just an update I have found that some of the effect that I wish to do can be done from the sound line at the bottom of the window as you suggested.... I must admit I had not used this sound line before. See it shows once again the value of this forum, we can all learn so much from you guys who are in the know. Thank you again Glenys
  16. Thank you everyone for your replies. I have printed these pages out and will refer to them as I go along. I am not quite ready yet to do the sound part, still getting the photos together and photoshopping them. I need to think a bit more about the music and how and what I wish to add to it. I have a few ideas swishing around in my head hopefully I will be able to make them come to fruition. Just want to try to develop my skills both with PTE and sound. Glenys Cooke
  17. Thank you for your reply Roger. O.K that helps me to add two tracks together as one I have managed to do that once for a show. I did'nt make it clear what I would like to do this time. What I am hoping to achieve is running a musical background and adding a voice over or other sound effect to an original track. Like some of the other clever slide show presenters have done. It is this action that I am wrestling with at the moment, making sure that I get the added bit in the right place. I am trying to figure out the easy way of doing it........... As I said I am new to this sound fiddling, only used one track of music so far. I did read in one of the forum notes about mixing down and peaking Nowt is ever straight forward is it when you try to get started. Glenys
  18. I have not had anything to do with playing around with sound on the computer before and wish to try after being inspired by several wonderful downloaded presentations. I have downloaded a copy of Audacity, and am trying to learn what to do with it . My query is about the waveform that has been added to PTE. Exactly what is its purpose? can a second sound track be added to it via PTE some way or is it just to show where a track starts and finishes? Do other folk add there extra tracks via a program like audacity and hope they get them in the right place? That all seems a bit hit and miss to me at this stage in my learning program. I am going to keep practicing, but if anyone has any tips please let me know. I am hoping to do something for my next slideshow.... Thank you all Glenys
  19. I have uploaded another picture show, this time it is above ground. Ausable chasm in the Adirondack Mountains in New York State. Taken on our trip this summer. Sorry I did not have any waterproof covers for my camera or the courage to let go of the side of the rubber dingy as it twisted and turned over the rapids. Glenys Cooke
  20. Yes the "King of Edge Hill" is the title.
  21. I have uploaded my first attempt of a picture show. Not sure when it will be added. My thanks to all who answered my queries and helped me to use exe, and gain a better understanding of Photoshop. Any comments welcome. Glenys
  22. I agree with all sentiments. I had looked at some other programs but felt this one allowed creativeness and flexibility. As for members of the forum well, I have had a couple of queries and they have been answered curtiously and I have not been made to feel the idiot that I did at the time of asking. Thank you to all. This backup on the forum and the associated site at Beechbrook where many valuable tutorials are posted and such a plethora of inspirational things that can be created with this program must make it top of the list for after sales backup to add to the already excelent program. Thanks to everybody on the forum and of course to the creator. Glenys

  24. Hi, I have finally burnt a pretty good svcd & dvd to use to show some members of my family (without computers) my picture show. I have now found if I burn an SVCD or DVD without the transitions in the show it burns fine. If I leave the transitions in (and I have only used the fade in fade out) the quality of the show is bad. I get a lot of movement on the screen and the quality of the slides is poor. It appears as I say to be the transitions causing my problem............ Has anyone else experienced this? Glenys
  25. Hello everyone, I have been getting along famously with my second slideshow, but decided the lenghth of the slides was too short and I needed some more music............ I went to project options, music tab, told the program to add another music file. In the customise syncronisation box I can see a blue line where the two sound files link together but I had lost the last two slides. Things get worse.......... I went back to the music tab and asked PTE to remove the second sound file that I had added, it worked but three more of my slides had dissapeared. They were still on the line of the original music, I had not moved them into the new line yet............ I did manage to bring the slides back by adding them again but why did they disappear in the first place? Have I added the extra music wrongly. Can I not add two music files separately in the music tab? I dont find the manual too explicit on the sound file adding. I am sure one of you will tell me what a silly billy I have been, and correct me. Thanks, Glenys
