  1. With Pinnacle Studio Plus, version 11.1.2, I was able to combine stills and video and write to DVD in AVCHD format (Blu-Ray HD equivalent) The still images were 1280x720 of good quality. I had produced a DVD via PTE using the same stills. Comparing the display of both "shows" in a 32" 750p HDTV, using a Blu-Ray player, I didn't notice sufficient difference in quality to justify the time spent in preparing the AVCHD disk vs DVD. Thanks for input.
  2. This issue has been driving me nuts. I am trying to show PTE shows in a 32" 1080i HDTV. The first "problem" was clipping at top and bottom. I am burning on a DVD burner and linking to the TV with a Blu-Ray (Playstation 3) player. Within DVD-Video Builder, the option screen, says: "Video options (720 x 480, 29.97 fps) Also, Wikipedia states that: "DVD-Video discs use either 4:3 or anamorphic 16:9 aspect ratio MPEG-2 video, stored at a resolution of 720×480 (3:2) (NTSC)" So, it would appear that that much of the 1920x1080 or 1280x720 image information is being discarded during the burning phase. Even if I had a HD DVD or Blu-Ray burner, could DVD-Video Builder create a 720p or 1080i HD DVD? Also, is it the "anamorphic" process that causes the size discrepancy on the HDTV screen? If these assumptions are wrong, please explain as I want to produce the best videos for HDTV possible from PTE.
  3. Thanks all, Just took the original 1920x1080 test image and cut a dvd using Pinnacle Studio. It created the same oversize that I experienced with PTE/DVD-builder. I guess this is pretty complicated as video capture into Pinnacle from a 16:9 camcorder and written to a dvd didn't have the same problem. Oh well!
  4. Thanks for the reply, Kin 1. Don't know. This is the first time I have created source images 16:9, 1920x1080 to populate the DVD. 2. Yes 3. Yes, a video captured from my Sony digital video camera (16:9) into Pinnacle Studio. I was able pause the camera and the HDTV on the same frame. It was a video of a soccer match and the frame had chalk lines which enabled me to adequately compare the visible image. They both matched. That was done this morning. Jack
  5. To any member, but especially to Lin and Ken - Images on TV are larger than screen. Source jpg images are 1920x1080, which is the pixel size of my 32" HDTV. With aspect ratios of 16:9 set in both PTE and Video Builder, the resulting image on the TV screen is larger than the screen. I have tested using "fullscreen" and "windowed" modes; "progressive" and "interlaced" styles without much effect. I have even used "windowed" mode with a window smaller than 1920x1080, with no change in results. Also, I have tried a source image of 1280x720 ... same results. This is driving me nuts. Can either of you or anyone else give me a clue as to what to do? Oh yes, I doulble checked the User Guide for v. 5.5 and believe that I am doing everything according to the Guide. Thanking you in advance, okcjack
  6. You experience is almost exactly what I am running into. I am using Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 11. 1. I can't seem to create an avi file within VideoBuilder. 2. When I elect within VideoBuilder to use Pinnacle Studio and open Studio (with PTE/VideoBuilder still open), Studio receives the temporary avi from VideoBuilder but I can't seem to create a permanent avi file within Studio. Most of my slideshows are to be shown on a computer but I want the ability to deliver a video version, hence Pinnacle Studio. While the new help PTE/VideoBuilder help file is wonderful, it is not specific enough (and probably was not intended to be or else it would be a library) to get me thru this problem. Has anyone else experienced this specific problem and successfully figured it out? If so, please help us!
  7. Sorry for my comments which have already been covered in this forum. For example, Video Builder provides good examples of aspect ratio settings in P2E and Video Builder and results on TV screens. However, it is still very confusing regarding HD DVD's.
  8. Thanks for opening the subject as I have been very frustrated in trying to do the same as you. HD widescreen television is an excellent medium and will become more so as analog television becomes history. It is amazing that it is soooo hard to find specific answers to your questions. With Pinnacle Studio Ulitmate, I can produce a slideshow and record on HD (high definition) DVD via and external DVD writer. A HD DVD can only be played on a HD DVD player or, if properly recorded, Blue-Ray. HD DVD players aren't as common as HD DVD televisions however. I recorded a 5 image HD DVD using Pinnacle Studio Ultimate and took it to Best Buy to play on a display HD DVD player. The results were poor. Although the images were 1280 x 720 pixels (16:9 ratio), which is the size of a 720p image and HD pixels on a television are square as in photograpy, the images were stretched in the wide dimension, therefore distorted. I thirst for someone, of actual knowledge and experience, to answer your questions as follows: 1. What should the dimensions of a source images be to create a DVD slideshow in PTE to be shown on a 1080i HD widescreen television (NTSC) so that image viewed would be the same "apparent aspect" ratio of the source, using a HD DVD player. 2. Is anything in the works for PTE which will allow output recorded in HD DVD format?
  9. Wow! Because of a computer restore I could not open 4.48 and came to the forum looking for a way to recover. It had been a long time since I last checked the forum and was unaware of v5.00. At any rate, I purchased v5.00 deluxe and am amazed at the improvements ... especially the DVD burner. Great work!
  10. Brian, Thanks to you, I can now show P2E's from the computer on the TV located up to 100' away via wireless. As you suggested, I purchased a Graphics Accelerator card with S-Video out (in my case, Radeon 9250). Next, I purchased a Radio Shack Audio/Video Signal Sender. Signal sender comes in two parts, a transmitter, which hooks to the sound card audio out (L/R) and to the S-Video out on the AGP card and a receiver which hooks to the AV on the TV. Now, I am going to join the users who want an effective way to string several P2E's. Of course, the picture quality isn't nearly as good as the monitor but it makes great background video/music. Thanks for your lead. Jack
  11. Thanks Brian I will follow your lead.
  12. Thanks for the reply. No. The remote control on the Media adapter (plugged into the stereo and tv) is the only control to communicate with the computer and it only accesses "shared" music and pictures files on the computer. The "shared" folders located on the computer are previously "user" designated via linksys software located on the computer. However, my question is whether "hardware/software" is available on the market which, using my existing wireless router, can display P2E shows on the tv/stereo and whether any forum members have experience with such hardware/software.
  13. After doing a 365 day search and finding nothing, I am asking for this forums collective knowledge. System - Running Windows XP and a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router along with a Linksys Wireless-B Media Adapter, I am able to view/play jpeg images and mp3 files, which are located on a desktop computer, via a stereo system and 13 year old television set in another part of the house. While this is great, it has made me want to find a way to play my P2E's and those available via Beechbrook over same stereo/television setup. While Linksys is the obvious place to go for infromation, their "support" is pretty much limited to hardware installation. Also, I understand that this quest is impossible if the intelligence is hardwired in the Media Adapter. However, is anyone communication P2E's from computers to stereo systems and CRT televisions via wireless? Is it even possible with available hardware/software?
  14. The last time I needed to convert Kodak proprietary files to jpg, I went to a Kodak website and downloaded a free converter.
  15. I have just download the Ulead v.2 trial version. The limitation per DVD is 99 slideSHOWS, NOT 99 slides. The number of slides per show is unlimited only by the disk.
  16. According to the downloaded Ulead user manual, the number of slides is only limited by the available space on the disk. That would translate into a long, long slide show that anyone would ever want to watch.
  17. I did a P2E slide show (exe) with 964 jpg images 800x600 and several mp3 files. Total file size was 74 meg. Not a problem.
  18. Igor, Thanks to you, I was able to put together a slide show featuring an alzheimer unit ,of which my Mother resides, and their holiday party. The party was great fun and enabled the elderly and their family to recapture some of the pre-alzheimer fun. The slide show has been recorded on several CDs and has been mailed to family members who were not able to attend. I never thought that an alzheimer party would be the highlight of my Christmas, but it was and your software enabled the spirit of the event to be captured and relived forever. May 2003 be even a greater year for you. Jack
  19. And hope that religions will serve to unify peoples rather than divide and destroy.
  20. Thanks Alan, I have Irfanview 3.51 and know that it can sort by several categories. However, I could not determine from the "help" file or "trial an error" that images can be sorted manually. If it can, I would appreciate a "how to". While I have already paid for registered copy, the ability to use Ifranview for such sorts would be less expensive for others looking for such ability. Jack
  21. Sorry for so many posts but ........ I have it figured out ....... and it works great! Thanks!
  22. Whoops! The "x" out problem was that I had downloaded a trial version many months ago and deleted it from my system. Consequently, registered this download and can now see the thumbnails. However, I can't figure out how to do a manual sort of the thumbnails. I would appreciate your help.
  23. Many thanks for the reply. I downloaded a copy of Thumbsplus before my original post but was not able to see any thumbnails ...... only a red "X" on white background in the spot where a thumbnail should be. I must be doing something wrong or the thumbnail feature is "null' on the trial copy. Thanks again.
  24. This is a bit embarassing since I once knew the answer of the question which I am about to ask. What software(s) are capable of allowing the user to visually select and sort thumbnails of images to enclude in a P2E file and then rename in sequentially in the sorted order? I have downloaded so many "demo"s and discarded that I lost track.
