  1. Hi Igor thanks for your reply. I would draw your attention to my comments above concerning people switching software, and suggest that a paid for .5 upgrade so soon after the release of v8 will not do a great deal to help the situation. I fully understand the need to maintain a revenue stream, but sometimes a gesture to placate disgruntled customers will pay greater dividends in the longer term.

  2. Hi Eric maybe you are right but I think being open and upfront about cost will avoid some of the negativity surrounding the release of v8. I still hear people complaining about Wnsoft reneging on their promise for free lifetime upgrades, and whilst I have every sympathy for Wnsofts reasons I think they need to be open about this release and "re-build a few bridges". I know of a few who were angry enough to swap to ProShow, which is shooting themselves in the foot as far as I'm concerned, but they are customers Wnsoft can ill afford to loose.

  3. The problem with version compatibility has been raised many times when talking about run with return with all versions of PTE. If all the slideshows you are using are your own, and you are methodical with your files and backups, then converting everything to the latest version, whilst irritating, does not take that long. The problem comes, as highlighted by Eric, when for whatever reason all you have is the slideshow exe file. This then excludes that show from any menu system which uses run with return. I don't know enough about programming to even begin to understand the difficulties involved in making menu systems version independent but if it could be achieved then it would certainly be a great help. As far as I'm aware if all you have left is the exe file then there are no viable options within PTE to create a menu which re-appears when a slideshow ends. This leaves only third party software as an option (such as PlayView_v1 and the programme used by Barry Beckham)which I think may be a missed opportunity as far as wnsoft are concerned. Igor's thoughts and reasoning's on this would be interesting to hear.

  4. Hi Lin

Thanks for all the info, I'm not sure what the pro's and con's are for "run application" and "run slideshow with return", old habit's I guess, I've always used run with return, so I'll probably stick with it. It's a bit of a pain converting existing shows, but doesn't take that long really, and not something that has to be done that often.

I will now sit and watch your excellent shows with the lights low and a glass of something warming.

    Best regards

    Geoff

  5. Lightroom 5 is now available and appears to work quicker than previous versions, and has some nice new features. However there are problems with some output resolutions, which Adobe confirm exist, so it would be better to wait for the first hotfix to these problems before committing fully to the new version.
