The show is not mine, it's one of Bill's downloaded from Beechbrook. I have run your shows ShowC and showZ, both ran with no problems and no error messages.

Hi Igor
It happens just before each video clip, so when double clicking to run exe, the screen goes black and the error message appears. If you then click continue or ignore the show carries on to the next video clip, the message appears again and stops the slideshow until one of the buttons is clicked. All these comments apply to the PC version (I can't test mac). The reason it appears at the beginning is because the show starts with a video clip. I have run the show several times and the error message appears at the same places each time. (just before the start of a video clip)

Igor can you take a look at this please
The problem seems to occur throughout the show when a video clip is about to play. I seem to remember having a similar problem once before but cannot remember what the outcome was.
Thanks

Hi Bill
When I tried to run your slideshow, I got the following error message (sorry no screenshot as print screen is disabled)
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 with Cancel Try Again Ignore buttons.
Clicking on any of the buttons then caused the show to run OK. Any suggestions as to what may be the cause of this? I enjoyed the show a lot when I watched it. I am quite envious of your holiday

I just wondered if "constrain to picture area" may have been an option, as it's not it's no big problem and not worth the work to include it. I am not using the video bar, but the Sky style buttons.

Hi Igor,
Yes for me personally the way version 7 behaved would be much better

Can the navigation bar position be made relative to the slideshow size rather than the screen size. As an example I am making a slideshow in 4:3 format which will be shown on monitors of varying aspect ratios, and I would like the navigation bar to be contained within the picture area, rather than in the corner of the screen, which at present I appear not to be able to do, so any advice would be appreciated. Please, no debates about the aspect ratio of the slideshow, just take it from me that for this particular show that is the ratio I need to use.

Hi Peter, your button carrier frame is overlapping the exit button on both pages, thus preventing the exit button from registering the mouse click. If you make the frame smaller to clear the exit button, then both pages exit when the button is clicked.

Hi Manuel the link on Beechbrook is for a mac version, do you have one for PC's please

It seems to me that from what people are saying in this thread, it's not too important what is set as default, but it is important that all choices remain available.

I use the 16x10 format all the time because it is the format of my computer screen, and I don't have to cut off to much of the 2x3 images from my camera. I use it also When projecting at my camera club. Please keep it available as a format, not necessary as default.
Thanks
Bert
I'll second that, 16x10 ratio is used much more than people think for the reasons stated by Bert above. 16x9 loses far too much of the captured image from 3x2 format of most DSLR cameras.

Hi Eric
I've been using one of these for about 18 months now, and can't fault it.

I hope the 16 x 10 option will still be available + fit to slide

Hi Maureen what an inspiring AV.Excellent pictures and a well crafted slideshows. A couple of questions if I may please. Are the pictures shot in Raw, and what post processing software do you use?
Thanks

Personally I am not in favour of a beginner’s forum, although I have sympathy with Steven's reasons for suggesting it. I feel beginners need input from more experienced users, and I have doubts that more experienced users would visit such a forum just to answer beginner’s questions, which would result in beginners trying to help beginners. I am more in favour of Igor’s thinking of publishing forum rules and a code of conduct, but perhaps more important, ensuring it was enforced. It is sad that we even need to be discussing all this, but hopefully with it out in the open this will result in a much better and friendlier forum and a place where beginners and everyone else can enjoy their visits, and get all the help they need.

I think that DVD should be retained for the foreseeable future as it's still used by many people, and one of the attractions of PTE is that it is feature rich, and long may it remain so. Whilst dedicated slideshow workers may not think the quality of DVD measures up to say mp4, I suspect that the average person watching their wedding pictures, along with their favorite music, on a DVD compiled by PTE would take a very different view, so for purely commercial reasons this feature should be retained, and possibly improved, for the foreseeable future. There is a big elitist trap out there which I think Apple is heading towards, and I would hate to see PTE follow.

It would be more use I feel if you could switch on/off some indicator that showed the key frame positions of other objects in the O&A window ie object 1 has 4 keyframes but these are not visible when object 2 is animated. Therefore it would be usefull if you were able to switch on an indicator showing the keyframe positions of object 1 while animating object 2.

Hi Barry
Thanks for the advise, and on reflection I will go with the 1920 x 1200 size you suggest, as you say this will future proof my slideshows, as much as we are able in this fast changing world of technology.
Best regards

I use 16:10 as that's the aspect ratio of my laptop on which the slideshows run for projection. However the shows are also shown on a monitor and a TV both of which are 16:9 and not wanting to make different formats of the same show, I am happy to live with black bands either side when viewing at 16:9. The reason for choosing 1728 x 1080 is that 1080 is the maximum they are shown at so I didn't see any advantage in making them bigger. Having said that if I intend to zoom an image I save it at double that resolution.

I think my comments above cover most of the points you raise.
Thanks both for your input.

Geoff,
Have a read of pages 24 and 44 of the User Guide (access via Help command).
PGA
Hi PGA
I'd already done that thanks, I'm looking more for people's observations/experiences and wondered what, if any benifits they'd found in setting the value to actual slide size.

I make my slideshows using an aspect ratio of 16:10. In project options this sets a default virtual size of slide of 1280x800. I actually use an image size of 1728 x 1080 so my question is should I leave "virtual size of slide" to the 1280 x 800 default or set it to the actual slide size of 1728 x 1080 ?
