From past discussions the average size of jpgs is 75 - 100kb -- that seemed to be a suitable size for all applications

Jeff,
does the problem occur when running on the hardrive
or

Jim, if we had the old archives we could find it. Igor or somebody from wnsoft should be jumping in here

you should compare the readme etc text files that come with each version -- print them out and compare how far the product has come, then when you install and run ver 4 beta 1 you will see how far behind you are --- you will find things that you might be used to not in the same place now and it will take some rootin' about to find them. But somebody will steer you in the right direction

Perhaps my reply will jog some of the "old guys" and they will correct me
If my memory serves me right the hot blocks and a couple others were elimanated in one of the betas by Igor, but he received so much flak from some members that were using them, that he put it back in. Now maybe he is giving a subtle hint not to use them --

I am going to ask the obvious -- have you checked the recycle bin for the folder of pictures

the subject of copying pictures has been brought up numerous times in the past -- the latest thread
http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...ct=ST&f=2&t=207
and quite likely more can be found if you search further.
as the title of the thread states
"a possible deterrent"

when you got your first copy of p2e, and you had not paid for it , when you made a show -- you were limited by the # of slides and there is a box in each frame that states that the program is un registered.

at the Cottage and you will see what i mean
i suggest[request ] that Igor incorporate the box feature into the program and the author has the option of turning it on -- placing it in each slide where he wishes with the appropriate text in the box and going one step further give it the smarts that JaySpry suggests
- the photographer could then make his "proof" cd for the customer, when he/she were paid and terms agreed on make a cd with no "warnings" c/w the users choice of music etc -
The final cd may be all that the customer wants, therfore money MUST change hands before this CD is made -- the customer may be satisfied with the cd and not require "paper picts" so the photographer has invoked the "CYA Policy" by getting the major portion of the bill at this point
As Guido says it should be a simple matter as the "box" is already in the program it just has to have some smarts to do the above features.

now we have to convince Igor - should be a piece of cake for him

remember when you played your first unregistered p2e show - -there is a box inserted in each picture stating that the program is unregistered
well
the object that is in the picture saying that the program is un registered would be an ideal sort of thing for future versions -- Igor could allow one to enable it - with custom text and size and allow the author to place the box in/on the author's pictures to prevent copying -- i think it should be very simple for Igor.
"enable do not copy logo"
Then a solution for a deterrant to copying shows/pictures would be offered to the author.
just an idea -- what do you think

i find that you have to use the hot button bottom left corner to get back "Back to PicturesToExe"-- if i use the back button of the browser to get back the "envelope" is still dark indicting i havent read the message yet -- same thing happens on the dsl reports forum
one of the nuisance quirks that we have to live with i suppose - not hi priority to the geeks

Igor is the author - owner - master chef etc of this forum and the man behind the development of p2e
so i guess you could say it would be nice to humour him
top right of this page is a box "members" by clicking it you can read all that the members are willing to tell about themselves
by going here
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~bussty/forum/forum.htm
you can see the members that are brave enough to show their face Igor's pict is also there
if you want to post your picture, send it to
Andrew Busst
bussty@ezynet.co.nz
and you will likely be asking what is Bill's place/the cottage

win xp home
256 ram
1.3 gig/hz
show size 23.1 mb size on disk
comprised of
6 mp3's
239 images
compiled with ver 4.0 beta 1
1.79 sec's+- startup time
but the same show done with 3.8 and the picts are +- 15% larger in size --25.6 mb size on the disc was basically the same start up time -- too close to call
pretty quick -- my old hands could hardly click the clicker on the stopwatch fast enough
now dont get the calculators out to check my figgers

Lumenlux, yes the world has really changed in such a short time. As yet I have never been over to the USA since the new bridge was built - no health insurance if i go across.

I am going to catch it for this but Igor might better spend his time fixing bugs fullfilling promises etc than trying to make his program a guardian of everybody's pictures
People -- if you dont want to take a chance that your work will not be copied DONT SELL IT and dont put your pictures on the internet -- it is a simple solution but this subject comes up in different forms time and time again and it is a waste of bandwidth.
deal with honest people and charge a fair price -- and go to bed at night with a satisfied feeling that you have had a good day.

Important about cheaters from Web hoster MyHosting.com
Excuse me, that I write here, but I so devastated by cheaters from Web hoster
Softcom (www.MyHosting.com). Today they closed our Web site, email addresses and have paralysed all our work, - "because of resource abuse on our server." No warnings, messages. Just a ready fact.
We exactly followed their rules and use their service already 3,5 years.
Now they extort money for Dedicated Server ($600 per month)!
I have posted about this to our Russian Shareware Conference (www.swrus.com) and found there another four Russian shareware programmers their Web site also were closed during Octber-November of this year. And also no preliminary
notices, but Softcom says that they many times sent notifies.
p.s. we're already in making of new Web site. Please wait one or two days.

Truelight - i agree with you but what is to be done with what is in the existing and/or the stuff that is/was lost we Igor changed hosts
ken
-
every day it gets harder to fix as more entries have to be sorted
ken

that is because the slides are already compressed. Possibly you can upload your show to
to be downloaded.
the other option is to send it with no music. I have found if i get much >4 mb in size it will generally get bounced as being too big.

Advice Needed

In the Feb 2003 issue of PCWORLD is a report on getting hosed when buying cameras
http://www.pcworld.com/features/article/0,...d,107855,00.asp
from my experience over the years it is advisable to get a brochure of several cameras you might be interested in beforehand and study what comes in the package. then go shopping -make sure all the pieces that are listed are there
-- most important is to check the warranty card -- if it is not honoured in the country you are living in move on.
if they wont open the box -- move on
good luck and do your homework
one of the worst mistakes is tourists who buy a camera out of country to save a few bucks and then when they get the box open the paperwork is either missing or in a foreign language
