  1. resolved problem of b/w picts on other tv's by plugging into the standard video output jack on dvd player to the standard video input on the tv. so when playing jpgs i will just use the regular tv video in/out to my distibution system - :(

  2. solved my cdrw prob -- to play a cdrw it must not be formatted -- and jpgs and or mp3's just dragged to an unformatted cd rw -- works fine

    today i purchased

    tv 27A42

    see

    http://www.toshiba.ca/web/group.grp?lg=en§ion=2

at present have a cd-r disk in the sd-2815 dvd with 105 jpgs -- that were used to make my Automobile Calendar show

-- these picts were saved at +- 640/480 at 80 % compression using Irfanview

the dvd player is connected to the colourstream component connectors of the tv.

the jpgs are being shown perfectly c/w the description of each slide -- i am viewing approx 15 ft from tv

the only thing lacking is music and the resolution of the computer monitor.

the dvd player has a resolution of 500 lines -- the tv 560

I will likely have to change some cabling to the other tv's in the room -- they are showing b/w pictures -- tis likely the colourstream component feature -- enough for the day

  3. Some of you photographers seem to forget that an upset customer is one that will not recommend your services to other people.

If you maintain a strict policy where you get 60% of your money up front no matter how big the package -- give them a set of 5x5 proofs in an album and then get the order for the rest. If you get a fairly decent order make up an album in p2e and give them 3-4 copies as good will.Don't give them the p2e to study beforehand. If they request more or they may want some changes in the layout of the p2e then charge them. The last thing you need is the cusomer wagging your tail if you cant see some finacial return.

I am speaking from experience -- have married off 3 daughters -- 2 of them i arranged a fellow photographer to do the pictures - he supplied me with the proof album and the 2 1/4 negs - I printed the final - free to direct family - charged to in laws and their friends - the 3rd wedding was out of town and they hired the photographer -- they were lucky to have the money for the proofs -- they had no money for a whole bunch of 8x10's at $30 a pop. We were the only buyers of reprints

If you are going to worry about somebody copying your work you are in the wrong business -- concentrate on doing quality work and building a reputation of giving value, you can't spare the time trying to protect your precious pictures.

Artists would never put their brush to the palette if they were wondering if somebody was going to copy their masterpiece.

I have seen so many beautiful pictures on the net - Han's Slau"s, Fretwell's, Ian's, Rob Wall's or Bussty's to name a few -- shots that other guys dream about - I look at them and say to myself "when i was there all it did was rain" or "why weren't those clouds that way when i took the picture"

    or

i might say " if conditions are right and i go back i bet i can get the same results" now is the original photographer going to be ticked off when he sees my picture -- i doubt it

  4. if we had a category for free stuff and then sub topics --

the old one was 6+ pages and had no divisions/categories

but till then members should shove it in this thread

so for a test lets make an example

i will repost and you can see what if i am making sense

but there is no way to make a subtitle B)

  5. I will post my DVD message here for starters

just an fyi, i just purchased a Toshiba model SD2815 5 disc changer that will read jpegs. am still playing - tis not the same as p2e but will show them -- no sound etc

    ken

so far am having probs playing a cd-rw

    and

mp3's and jpgs can be mixed but not in folders

  6. Agree **********

    10 stars i think

that is what Casey was working towards

we have been thru a very big year

Igor had to get a new host

Igor made numerous upgrades to the program

the other forum was getting way out of hand

let us stop the snowball now before it gets too big and we end up with a hodgepoge forum again

my 2 cents Canadian -- granted it aint worth much on the world market, but the best we can do B)

an example of a forum with the sort of things we need can be seen at

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/

it will show the last active posts in each category etc

I imagine Invision would modify for our needs -- 'tis up to Igor to ask -- but if Igor and co are busy sorting out the layout and trying to institute getting all the old posts up to this forum something has to suffer -- and that will be revising/updating 3.8 will have to go on hold

you cant have your cake and eat it too

so people what's it gonna be ?????????

voice your comments so that Igor can see which direction to go -- BUT dont start another thread keep it in this one

  8. A 25 meg file + the p2e overhead [which is minimal] would only take +- 1 min to burn with a 32 x burner

if your picts were ok before the burn they will be the same quality after the burn

i just burned a copy of a cd with 14 tunes on it -- not mp3's in approx +- 8 mins with my 32x burner

are you trying to figure out how p2e does it -- well Igor's holds the secret

are you suprised it works so well -- good

if you have a problem, you are going to have to give us more details in an orderly manner so the experts on the forum have half a chance of helping you

    ken

  9. yeh they can burn as many as they like - dont think there has a simple copy protection plan invented yet -- just deal with honest people and you wont have to worry

the only thing you could do is click off the expire box after x# days -- but you could upset your customer and end up selling them nothing
