  1. Alan, I have had problems, too, running a show from the cd player on my laptop. It seems the solution in your case, as in mine, is to copy to the hd first.
  2. Hi, Scholty, Welcome to the Forum! We can do some miracles, but sorry, we can't turn water into wine! Maybe there's another way to put the compiled show onto a DVD directly, but reverse-engineering will only go so far, unless Igor has a magic wand! You could always film the pc screen with a DV camera??
  3. Ronnie, I have used Photoshop / Image Ready to create some interactive pages on my web site. It does take some steep learning, though, but once you have done it once successfully, it's really not all that difficult. However, Image Ready is intended mainly for web pages - it adds javascript commands and functions to accomplish the animations. The output is an HTML page, which of course you could put on a CD or use as a file in your pc. It's not compatible with PTE. HERE is a link to a short tutorial on creating a button with a rollover effect. There's an example at the bottom of the page.
  4. Bruman, You can't add it in "Customize slide". If you want to sync it, you could add it as a second sound file in "Project Options". On the timeline you will then see a blue vertical bar across the timeline indicating the start of the second selection. Place your last slide to start at the blue bar. Or, you could do as JRR says, and use a sound editor to convert it to mp3 and add it to the end of the existing mp3 file.
  5. Select the drive from the list at the top. Then double-click on the folder you want and it should open.
  6. Hi, Pen, Welcome to the Forum! This problem surfaces from time to time - it could be due to corrupted sound or image files. Are you using mp3 or wav music files? How large are your images? If you search the forum for "access violation" you will find a few other similar complaints and the suggested solutions.
  7. Hi, Bruman One way to do this is to check "When show ends keep last slide ... on screen" in the "Project Options / Main" menu. Then add your wave file to the "Sound" line on the main window. If you do not want the wave file to overlap the end of the mp3 background music, make sure the last slide is near the very end of the timeline.
  8. Hi, Peggy, What version of PTE are you using? Some improvements have been made in recent beta versions to the PTE music player which might solve your problem if you are using an earlier version. Also, does the music play back OK in Windows Media Player or other software which you normally use on your computer? Also, as Jim says, conflicts in displaying the images can also affect the sound, so it would be a good idea to try it out in a very simple slide show, allowing lots of time between transitions, to see if it plays back without problems.
  9. Thanks, Igor. Thank-you for everything you have given us this past year. Hope you manage to get some rest now, and welcome the New Year in style with your family and friends! All the best in 2004!
  10. Mike, Maybe you've tried it already, but my "Adjustor" model (available on p. 3 or 4 of Beechbrook) might help you globally rearrange the timing of your slides until Igor has time to work in a similar option into PTE. You have to already have MS Excel 97 or 2000 installed, though. If you are used to spreadsheets, it won't be too hard to figure out.
  11. Isabel Installing the beta in the 4.14 directory will over-write the existing files. However, if you want to keep 4.14, copy the entire directory to a new one, and then install the beta in it, and you will be able to use both versions. You can also create a new "shortcut" icon for the new version, rename it "PTE Beta-x" (or something similar), and you will have it available, along with the old 4.14 version, whenever you want to use the new one instead.
  12. Mzee, Just click on "Edit" at the top right-hand corner of your message. Edit the message, then click on "Submit modified post". Edit: Send another message to WnSoft, and ask them to resend the registration file as a ".zip" file instead of just a text file. It seems these text files cause problems once in a while in recipients' email systems.
  13. Isabel, Most of them are probably in "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32".
  14. Mzee, Another option in Outlook Express 6.0 is "Read all messages in plain text". This is an excellent safeguard against malicious HTML, etc., in the SPAM messages everyone is getting these days. However, it could also be doing something with your attachment from WnSoft's registration provider. If you have an option like this activated in Eudora, try temporarily resetting it to allow full HTML, and see if this makes a difference with the way the attachment is viewed.
  15. Mzee, Welcome to PTE and to the Forum! As Stu says, this is a common problem. What email program (and version number) are you using? Are you using Outlook Express 6.00, or a web-mail system such as Yahoo? If you are using "Outlook Express 6.00", there is an option for excluding attachments that might contain harmful files. Usually you can still see that an attachment is there (there should be a little paper clip icon to the left of the file). However, if you have checked "Options / Security / Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened.......", you will not be able to open or save it, even if you use "File / Save attachements".
  16. Shelton, You just install over the old one. To install a new beta, if you want to keep the old one, just create a new folder and copy everything from the working folder over into the new one. Then save the new zipped downloaded beta into the new folder, replacing whatever is there now, and then unzip everything into the new folder, writing over and replacing all 7 existing files. Then run "Setup" (in the new folder), follow directions, and presto! You can also create a "shortcut" thumbnail link to the new version on your desktop if you want.
  17. Hi, Ngwb, Welcome! As Jim says, if you are using background music, it has to be added via the "Project Options" / "Music" tab. Also make sure you have un-checked "Play new background music" in "Customize slide". You can still add customized music on the "Sound" line on the main window, as it is not considered to be "background" music, and can over-play the music in the background when that slide is activated. Hope this helps.
  18. Shelton, According to Igor, PTE no longer requires DirectX. See This Post.
  19. Hi, Shelton, I have no problem with PTE 4.14 or 4.20 beta on Win XP. According to my Direct X log file, I seem to be running version 7, though.
  20. Hi, Carol, Welcome to the forum! Zipping the file will not reduce it much in size, but it will allow it to get by some of the security filters on most commercial email systems.
  21. Isabel, My tutorial "PTE 101" has a section with quite a bit of detail on how to use the timeline. It is available for downloading on page 2 of Beechbrook.
  22. Hi, Alan, I'll take you up on that whisky! I plan to be in Dublin July 14th for the singing of "Celtic Mass for the Sea" - will let you know where. Merry Christmas!
  23. Igor, You've gone far enough in your English lessons - I had to look that one up in my Oxford dictionary!! All the best of the Season to you and yours! Thank-you so much for all the hard work you've put on PTE for us this past year!
  24. Great idea, Bob! My signature line says it all. I, too, wish this rain would stop. Our friends south of us can't blame any cold weather on us so far this winter!! Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year to everyone tuning in to this great Forum! And also to Igor and Aleksey and Inna and all the rest of the WnSoft team!
