  1. Well, I'll be darn... I did not know the keys were different! This is on a different computer and I had never installed PTE on this system. Went back and loaded my older PTE key from 2002 and magically it fixed it! (I try to never throw anything away) I would have thought the newer key would have been inclusive! But obviously not! Sorry I jumped the gun on your request it would have been nice to know for sure but it's fixed now! THANKS!
  2. I too am having this exact same problem with 6.5! The only difference is I am using a 5.1 key. I have tried loading the text, and loading the file. Both produce similar results. This is on a Windows 7 X64 machine. (could that be the problem)
  3. Lin, Looks like your vision must be improving!!! (I see you are spending more time on the Forum) I opened your link in Firefox, Netscape and IE6. All three instances created the full size image "enlarged and it greatly affects the quality". Pretty much got the same results as LumenLux
  4. Unfoutnately I cannot specifically compare PTE 5 to PSPv3.0. However when I was first shopping 5 years ago I was very unhappy with everything else I tried. What I CAN tell you is that PTE 5 is still in beta with the typical GOTCHA's you would expect to find in any beta release. However the great features version PTE 5 will give you are worth the minor headaches. I have the oppertunity to see lots of stuff other people put together with other programs and am usually disapointed with what they have done. My suggestion to you would be to download some of the stuff others have done: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showforum=3 and look for yourself!! There is another site with many examples too: http://www.beechbrook.com/pte/index.asp
  5. Thank you both... No... If you assign an image to it, then the start button is disabled (that is why I was needing to use it) I kind of suspected that this feature was not fully implemented. I was merely making sure Igor had it on his "to do" list!!! Fred, You may be on to something here!!! (I do have one contributor that is giving me huge image files) I am resizing all the images as I am typing.... FOLLOW UP COMMENT: Resizing the images fixed my problem... And in addition, now that it runs correctly (even on my laptop)... I discovered that PTE did not assign ANY QUICK Transitions whatsoever!!! (But the check box IS still missing)
  6. Created a show that lets PTE select select specific group of random transition effects. This show has about 400 slides and runs about 12 minutes (so it already has a pretty quick pace) I have discovered that some of the slides are only on the screen for just a flash!!! (a half a second) While others seem to hang on the screen for almost two seconds. I am pretty sure this only happens when the program has decided to use the "Quick" effect. So I thought I would just disable it and force the program to assign longer transitions! Well on 4.48 the check box for "Quick" used to be the very last box on the selections. Beta 5.8u does not list it at all!! I cannot turn it off The problem seems to be much worse on my Laptop than my PC (obviously a better Video card). (Unfortunately I WAS needing to use my Laptop for the show) If I had not spent so much time developing a fancy opening using PTE 5 effects, I would return to 4.48 for this show!!! It does not seem to make a difference whether it is an EXE or Preview. I have not tried to burn a DVD (yet) In addition, I have noticed that when using a "Start Up Window" the background is transparent not black. (you can see the computer desktop under the window)
  7. Lin, Sorry to hear about your accident!!! I appreciate all of your help in the past and probably one of the last things you need to be doing right now is reading this post!! (So I for this post only, am making the font size easier for you to read) Best of luck, and you will definately be in our prayers!!!
  8. Well, I suppose, adding silence will work IF I calculate the correct number of blank slides to add too. Aaaaaaa Beta is as Beta does! (or was that VHS)
  9. Oh boy... My problem is a bit more severe!!! I do my slide shows with a projector for a very large audiance. I have "When Show ends keep last slide in show on screen" enabled. It is necessary for me to do the last slide as a "fade to black" so the people in the audiance do not have to look at my computer desktop after the show. (unil I can kill the projector and audio) In my case the music starts to repeat until ESC is pressed. With the EXE file the exit is VERY ugly with the program slowly exiting in almost a "crash mode". (not pretty) Will version 5.9 fix this and are you expecting it to release soon? If not, do any other of the beta versions not show this problem? I have tried checking and unchecking just about every box related to sound I can find. Nothing seems to really be a satisifactory solution!!! I have a show to do in about a week and I have kinda built the new show around version 5!!!
  10. Yes, of course... I know "beta is beta' Just wanting Igor to know about it in case he is intersted in addressing it some day (in all of his spare time) Probably nothing at all!!! Just call me superstitious for wanting to run the show through several times. Start to Finish. Just to BE SURE there is not some sort of problem.
  11. Sometimes when I am debugging a very long slide show, frequently I want to let the show run and go off to do other things while the show is running. I may ALT-Tab to my e-mail or something else. Then switch back to the slide show when I am getting close to something I am wanting to pay attention to. I did not have any trouble using this feature in PTE v4. But this does not seem to work with PTE v5. The music continues to play, but the slides to not change until I Alt-TAB back. Yes I know there is a "Start Preview from the current slide" feature, but sometimes I do not completely trust that function! (Isn't it amazing how much trouble we can get into to keep IGOR busy)
  12. Well.... My problem turned out to be solveable on my end. The slideshow I was trying to create the AVI for had been created with Version 4.41 The slide show would run correctly in preview mode, but when you when into the "timeline" the Duration was showing 6:17. Deleting the Transition points several times did not solve the problem. Deleting the MP3 did not solve it either! I feel that I tried just about everything I could think of several times over and the duration was still 6:17!!! Finally I did everything that I had already done over and suddenly the duration was correct! I have no idea what sequence of buttons I pushed to fix it... But it appears that the REAL problem was that Version 8R did not like the 4.41 file!!! NOTE: I see now (hidden deeply in another post) that older versions are not compatible with the Video porton of version 8
  13. Stan, I believe this is an optional feature with PTE... When a person is designing their slide show they have to choose whether the mouse is active or not. I believe that you will find that some slide shows work and others do not. I am wondering... Do you have the ability with your custom mouse setup to execute an ALT+TAB? If so you could leave your keyboard screen on a differnt page and TAB over to it. Other than that I cannot think of a simple solution to your problem.
  14. It will be intersting to learn about "Mr B's" result with his FX5200... Neither slide show had any significant jerking on my FX5200. "Test PZR 1280" DID have a slight ripple appear about every 2 seconds (during the 1st long set of pans when the screen was rolling from top to bottom). I suspect these were image splices? This was NOT annoying except to the most critical eye and I did not catch it until I was actually looking for it. "Fantaisies florales" showed absolutely no jerking at all!!! BTW: It has incredible animation too!!! It appears that perhaps moving multiple smaller objects around on the screen is not as much as a resource hog as a PAN or ZOOM. (In my original post I even noted that in the same slideshow my PAN was jerky and the annimation was not) Mark Wilbur
  15. Lin, I am assume you have to be asking about individual picture files not PTE or EXE files: Before modifying the pictures were 150-273K After Modifying the picture file sizes became 50-70K I forgot to mention that I am running a NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 with 128mb (Hmmmm... Me thinks I see a connection) Mark Wilbur
  16. Happy New Year... And I am back in town (for a while) Are you needing anything more than the PTE file I previously posted? (Also keep in mind that it is VERY possible that I am doing something incorrectly on my end too) Mark Wilbur
  17. I was watching this thread with great interest because I was having the same problem!!! One thing I just discovered is that I made a show with about 10 different objects all moving in different directions. The transition for this effect was very smooth and exactly what I wanted! Two slides later I did a very simple zoom and the next slide was a very basic pan. They were both jerky and I was very unhappy with how it looked! I could not figure out what was different between these two slides IN THE SAME SHOW! It turns out that all the moving objects were fairly small and the slides that were jerky were 1200 x 900. When I reduced the size of these two pictures to 800 x 600 both the pan and zoom cleaned right up!!! Mark Wilbur
  18. Sorry Igor... Version 8R produces the same 6:17 video. One thing that I noticed is that the progress indicator moves very slowly at first. Processing only a little faster than running the show in real time. But after the indicatior hits a point (somewhere past 4 minutes on the counter) it picks up speed then after about the 5 minute mark it races across (from center to right) in about 45 seconds. I would be happy to send you the files but they are over 600meg (not very pratical) The PTE file is here: http://troop374.ods.org/downloads/~2006_10...amporee.pte.txt (I will be deleting it in a few days) Either way I will leaving town and NOT be logging into the forum before Satruday (USA CST time) at the earliest This is not improtant to me right now. Although it would be a real nice feature for us to use. Right now, I am only trying to assist you with the Beta Mark Wilbur
  19. Ken, I did not see the connection with post 15 and 16... But posting #8 by George and reply #17 by Igor may indeed be related to my problem... Given the way variables sometimes appear to randomly get reset 52 seconds vs 6:17 minutes may be irrevelant. I will assume (for the time being) that this is the same bug! Thanks! Mark Wilbur
  20. Howdy! LOVE the new V5 release!!! Playing with Beta 5.00 #8A and noticed that when creating an AVI the resulting slide show is tuncated to 6:17 minutes. The Slide original show is actually 11:38 minutes and has 301 slides. I have played around with various codec settings and screen resolutions and the resulting file changes from a 20meg file to 70meg, but in all cases the progress counter counts up to 6 minutes (100%) and thinks it is done. The resulting AVI is only 6 minutes long and is truncated around slide 163. The music and slides are probably still in sync... The presentation is just truncated! I realize this is only a beta and I am not critically needing this feature (yet). Just passing the information along!!! Any additional thoughts from anyone? Mark Wilbur
  21. Response to Alrobin; Hmmmm... Excel? I missed the thread about this... It has real possibilites. Yeah... Use the formulas??? Let me think about that one for a while. (Very "out of the box" thinking) Cool edit, Sound Forge (and others) are old news to me, but thanks for the comment about Excel. My mind is already whirring about whether it could actually work the way I want...? Mark W. (Allogagaw)
  22. Actually JRR; Your are aboultely correct!!! The BEST slide shows ARE synced individually! That is the way I have done it for years. However, I am getting older (and smater) and have discovered that the true payback for all my efforts are not trurly appreciated. My presentations are only seen ONCE! So, there is no way that an audiance can ever begin to understand how much work goes into a presentation... So, I have discovered that a very close 2nd is to pick a few key sections of the music and make sure things happen there. This is where my "anchor point" would come in handy. (But, I have beat this topic to death...) Elsewhere, if a disolve happens in the middle of a stanza (or beat) no one notices. Also, I like to be able to take live digital shots of the event and throw them at the end. This is another place this feature would be handy. Mark W. (Allogagaw)
  23. Yes, I still have all my analog slide equipment!!! (and still have to use it occasionally) My AVL unit can handle up to 17 projectors and one movie projector... (Good grief) But the most number of slide projectors I was ever able to scrounge up was 4. Digital is so much easier (Sigh) But, I also write software as a hobby. It is frustrating to see the potential with this program. Any idea how long before a more sophisticated timing is available? 3.90? 4.0? What Igor has done is nothing short of a miracle, but after seeing that the PTE data file is plain flat text, I am thinking about writing some software to massage the data directly in the data file. I.E. If I wanted to move every slide between 7 and 65 by .2 seconds sooner, I could do that in a few seconds with a simple loop program. Thanks for all your suggestions... I had already thought about using a plain bat file. It would work just like the "nobeefstu" but I figured that the transition would be very sloppy! (with flashes on the screen) I still think that some sort of a time anchor would be more practical... In the flat file, it could take the form of a special slide called "anchor". The auto sort timing algortith would stop when it saw this slide. Then rather than making three separate slide shows It would be one long MP3 with all three songs pre-mixed. You would start with sync to 82 slides, place an "Anchor" then the next 100 slides and a 2nd "Anchor" and the last 32 slides. Time will tell... Mark W. (Allogogaw)
  24. I am new to PTE, but have been doing 35mm slide shows since about 1980. I have been browsing the different forums and I believe that PTE still lacks this feature... For example: If I have three different songs and I need the 1st song to auto sync to 82 slides, the 2nd song to 100 slides and the third song to have 32 slides. I appears that this feature is still on the current PTE "Wish List" This was discussed in another forum to have an introduction page with three buttons linking three different slideshows. Sounds like this COULD work, however it would not be automated... Is there a way to have the last slide (of the 1st song) to trigger the 2nd slide show? (or some other way to make it invisible to the audience?) It would also be nice to place "Timing Anchors" in a 15 minute song to change have PTE auto calculate slides between these anchor points.
