  1. GĂ©rard. Thanks for your reply. Whilst the upgrade price isn't much, considering the improvements since 2005, I would point out that those of us who bought years ago were promised free upgrades for life. Has this been withdrawn.
  2. Right, it's 04.09 a.m. and I've been at this for over 2 1/2 hours and I've read all the above and I am still baffled. I have been running 7.5 successfully and have just installed 8.0.1 In 7.5 the activation window (as per Igor's post of 7/12/13 5.03 p.m.) is as per in which I have the option "Load key from file" and as I have the Reg.txt file that was sent to me on Fri 30/12/2005 04:27 when I first purchased P2E I had no problem activating 7.5 Now I try to activate 8.0.1 and I get the activation window as per the top and when I hit "Load a Key" I get the middle window with "Activate" and NO "Load key from file" so I open Reg.txt and copy and paste the whole contents into the box and hit "Activate" and I then get the lower message "The licence key for this product is incorrect or damaged" so I go back to Reg.txt and copy and paste the bit which looks like the key without including the REGEDIT4 bla bla bla and still the same rejection "The licence key for this product is incorrect or damaged". Next I go the the forum and find this thread and having read all of it I go back to 7.5 and hit "Help" "Check for Updates" and I get the message Question: Igor, where do I go from here as all I have ever got from Support is Reg.txt and no other activation code. And by the way. I had trouble inserting the files / images. Checked the forum for this problem and got the solution "use Full Editor" but the "Chose File" option would NOT open Explorer to allow me to go to the folder the attachment images were in. In despair I started all over again in Chrome instead of Firefox and the "Chose File" option worked as it should. Possibly another thing for you to fix, Igor. Thanks in anticipation.
  3. Mark (and an explanation for jfa) Where do I start - at the beginning, I suppose. I'm the John referred to, a member of the RPS AV Ireland group Mark refers to. (at this point I have to say that I have just watched the new sequence and, for reference, the old one which I had downloaded some time ago) We suggested the first 3 slides should depict the Blue, Green, Red in the dialogue but I think what we were suggesting was more along the lines of a colour image where that single colour was the predominate colour, not what has been done, applying a colour layer to an already black and white image. The effect we were after was the 3, single colour, colour images leading into the colour spiral staircase which then blended to black and white and then our eye goes down the steps into the rest of the black and white sequence. Speaking personally I would try this colour to black and white fade as an overall fade and not the corner to corner fade used throughout the sequence. With regard to the white borders I don't recall it being said "they should not be used in AV". We showed another sequence of all the same size images bounded by a strong white line. We felt that this served subliminally to separate each image from the next whereas the style/mood of this particular sequence was to flow uninterrupted from one image to the next and we felt the white line interfered with this flow. We mentioned that the purpose of the white border on a print was to hold the eye within the print when being displayed in a lighted room with other prints to distract from it but, as I think Maureen has said earlier, and speaking personally, the feeling for me with AV is that, in a darkened room, one wants to be taken through and around the edges of an image into the next image and this is more easily achieved without the white line getting in the way. In Mark's sequence there certainly are parts where a border is necessary because of the overlaying of the images. Here it works for me but that does not mean it works where it is not necessary. The point was made that, when watching TV we don't have a white border; we are held in by the cinematography and the emotion, and so it should be with AV. Still on the subject of borders, as Barry says "I would prefer thinner lines" and, as Maureen has said, they cause a spectral highlight which draws our eye. My preferred method is to work with a very small % of the image's bigger measurement and apply this all round. I find that using other units of measure leads to the line being to pronounced. Still on the subject of white, it is distracting. The superimposed text in the early images are not in the original sequence and again, speaking personally, the earlier sequence is all the better for it. Also further into the sequence there is no need for the text "Window Detail". They burn into you and remain in your brain to long. Mark's script, timing, delivery, and images mirroring the words throughout the sequence, is more than enough. That said this is a lovely sequence and all the above is splitting hairs to give the piece a final fineness. As our colleagues in the IPF AV group would put it, adding the sparkle (a topic they will be discussing at their next meeting) As a final salute to Mark's excellent work I had already chosen the earlier version to include in an AV Extravaganza I am doing at a few local camera clubs, starting next week, to try and encourage new blood into the art. I hope this is OK with you, Mark, and that you can have Version 3, which should include all of the above, ready before next Tuesday. (you have my personal e-mail and phone number) PS Please, please, hide the Mouse Cursor in Project Options/Advanced 3rd drop down menu box from top and give the new download the same title as the sequence, it makes for easier filing. (see http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10788&st=0&p=69895entry69895) Also, why is this new version restricted to 1024 X 768 whereas the earlier one ran full screen on my 30" 2048 X 1536 monitor and I would prefer this for all sequences, especially as screens and projectors are more and more capable of running higher resolutions; all to be corrected in version 3. Hope you will still be talking to me at our next meeting on the 28th. John
  4. Is there no way around using the C drive. I am just about to install a 120Gb Solid State Drive purely for the operating system and programmes. Everything else of a temporary nature will be redirected to my other SATA drives and I would like to have the control over this. John
  5. John Not sure what your comment "better than Vista anyway" means. Are you talking about the general running of your computer or PTE running better. I have been running V5.6 and V6.0 on 64bit Vista Business without any problems. I'm moving to Windows 7 64bit next week so will be interested to hear from others. John
  6. Ken I now have an idea as to why this sequence was deleted off my computer. Whilst the .zip file and Title are named "Sixty-Five Acres of Crosses" the file actually unzips as margraten.exe which months later, when I was housekeeping my files, meant nothing to me so got shredded. I have downloaded and viewed the other sequence you were kind enough to supply and others that some other replies directed me to. Yes, not what you want to see every day but it is good that people can see what the past was, the pity is so few have learned the lesson. Of the 2 Margraten sequences I prefer "Sixty-Five Acres of Crosses". The images are so expressive and the music cuts you. Thanks again John
  7. Ken You are a GENIUS. "Sixty-Five Acres of Crosses" was exactly what I was looking for. As soon as I saw the name I knew you had come up trumps. It has been safely downloaded and viewed. My grey cells are obviously still working as my description and nationality of the author appear to have been spot on. (I must remember to tell the doctor she can now take me off the tablets) With regard to - "remember "JESUS SAVES" AND not on your hard drive" you are priceless (and as mad as a hatter) and I mean that as a compliment. It's 7.12 a.m. with me and I still haven't gone to bed and, from what I see of the amount of help you give on the Forum, you must be the same, only your computer must make meals and coffee as well as it appears you never leave it. Your reward on this earth! If you are ever coming to Ireland contact me and I will see to it that you are shown all the right places, you might even get a bed. Thanks again to you and all who helped with searching for this. I assume I can contact Bill through the Beechbrook site to give him my thanks for the time he must have taken to retrieve this. Hopefully others are now able to see this sequence of which the music, images, inscriptions and the authors written words just stop you in your tracks for 5 minutes and give some sense of the loss. John
  8. Yachtsman Thanks, but the problem is I can't remember any part of the name as I first downloaded it around 2005/6. I assume I got this off Beechbrook and I have gone through all their current listings, where the name doesn't indicate they are definitely something else, but without any luck. I'm not sure if sequences are removed from Beeckrook after a time to make way for new material but I assume this is happening as the search always seems to top out at 16 pages. I always try and solve my problems by REALLY searching the web so my posting here is a final cry for help. It could be the same problem I am having getting "Oradour" where the link from Beechbrook is not responding. Thanks to Lennart who e-mailed me about probable sequences but none of these was the one I am looking for. John
  9. Hi All I downloaded a sequence some time ago but it seems to have vanished off my system and I cannot remember the name to try and hunt it down. The show I am trying to trace was taken in a war graves cemetery (WW2) in Europe, a very powerful sequence. It was about the American (or Canadian) dead. There was a music sound track and the story was told by text. From memory parts of the show were raised off the background by using a shadow effect around the image which was sitting on top of a slightly larger background. The end was a few shots inside the cemetery building showing a chandelier light made from metal which the story line gave details of. Again, if my grey cells are working, the author was Dutch, or something close to. I'm involved in AV locally and want to show this, along with other sequences, to try and encourage others to take up AV. In advance, thanks for your help. John
  10. Lin Thanks for the info confirming that what I saw was correct. It's good to know that, even though I burn my eyes out at a screen for hours on end, they obviously still work. Thanks for the time it must have taken to put this demo together and, as I said earlier, I was being super critical. As a new poster (I've been reading the forum for a long time) I didn't want to post my request for help in the wrong place. Once again, thanks for your help. John
  11. Lin Thanks for this. Worked fine on my system, I think! The river scene: should I have seen what looked like distinct areas of water movement without appearing to blend with the other water movements around them i.e. just above and to the left of the rapids edge. Also, when the earth traversed over the sun: when it reached the middle of the sun it seemed to develop a slightly raised blackness around the top edge as it traversed the remainder of the sun. I'm probably being over critical as I'm watching this on a 30" monitor running at 2048 X 1536 with a 1Gb graphics card. Regards and thanks, John PS. 1. Does the link given above lead to the animation shows. 2. Apart from Beechbrook, and those member sites listed by Ken Cox, are there other sites hosting PTE shows. 3. Where would I post to see if anyone can help me find a show I downloaded some time ago but which seems to have vanished off my sysytem.
