  1. I've seen a list of keyboard shortcuts for PTE somewhere, but I can't find it now. Can someone point me in the right direction? Dave
  2. I'm going to risk myself here and admit I haven't used templates up to this point. What are they good for? What sort of stuff gets stored in a template? How do you create one? How do you use one? How about a tutorial or any other information explaining templates in a general way? Thanks.
  3. Good to know. Makes sense though I now have to go back and fix a bunch of slides. Thanks for he help. Dave
  4. Thanks Al, that did the trick. Why did that setting make a differance? Was it something I shouldn't have done or was it a calculation error in the program? Dave
  5. Even more information: If I build a DVD using 8u, the produced DVD-Video is almost but not exactly perfect. Good enough. The icon on the DVD menu however is all whacked out. The plane pictures are correct, but the "text" pictures are 2-4 times the size they should be. Dave
  6. More information: I moved the graphics files and the PTE file to another computer running 8r. The rendered AVI file on 8r looks like what 8u rendered. On 8r, the O&A window matches the preview and the EXE but does not match the 8u preview and O&A window. It is slightly less wrong than the AVI file. If anyone has 8z, can you test my files and tell me if this is fixed? Dave
  7. Attached is a zip file containing three pictures and a PTE v5.00 beta 8u project. This project has just one slide. Two of the PNG files are of text created in Photoshop. When I place these two pieces of text on the page plus another picture (the port engine on a Cessna 402) also processed with Photoshop and preview it or create an EXE, the result is as expected. If I create an AVI (codec makes no differance), the PNG files that are text are bigger on the screen that they should be. I placed several other copies of the plane engine picture around the page to bracket the plane picture and the text. None of the plane pictures seem to have a problem, yet the PNG "text" images seem to be treated incorrectly. Changing the height and width of the AVI file causes the "text" to be misplaced in different ways. BTW: I converted the plane picture to a PNG file and the same problem resulted. I need to use PNG for the text for transparency and for the more than 256 colors. Any ideas what is happening or most importantly how to fix this? Thanks. Misplacement.zip
  8. I didn't mean to turn this into a "what format is the best" conversation. What I am interested in is this comment from admin1: What format is the "such" format? I'm interested in making such I'm not making P2E work harder to produce a fine presentation than it has to. Dave
  9. So for images that do not require transparency, using BMP for the slides is an advantage? Dave
  10. I've been asked to put together a photo retrospective for the graduating class at our High School. It amounts to a 15 minute show with about 165 photos. Artistry aside for the moment, what technical advise do the pros have for us relative newbies learning P2E? Pictures formats, file sizes, final showing, etc. Thanks.
  11. The correct understanding of this answer is very important to me because I am about to embark on the most complicated P2E presentation I've ever done. I can understand the advantage PNG24 gives quality wise over PNG8, but I am confused about the comment concerning 24-bit BMP. Are you saying 24-bit BMP loads twice as fast as PNG24? Dave
  12. In Nero, when you try to add a folder that already exists (like VIDEO_TS) it just adds the files to the existing folder. I tested it to make sure and I was able to create a working Video DVD. Dave
  13. BTW: I tried Beta8R and had the same crash. I'm not sure I understand your request. In Nero when you start a DVD-Video compilation, the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders are already created for you so I just copy the files into those folders. I don't think Nero will created a valid DVD video disc if I use a data mode compilation. Please explain to this dense person. Dave
  14. I think we have two distinct questions here: 1) Is it possible to make a "mixed" DVD? Can it be done and does it break any standards? 2) Why does VideoBuilder crash? My opinion: 1) There seems to be some confusion on this point if you Google around. I could not find any "standards" or limit on the number of files or folders. Most people said either extra folders "will confuse your DVD player" or "your DVD player will ignore" the extra folders. 1a) Nero 6.6.1.4 lets you create a DVD-Video compilation with the additional folders. I just let VideoBuilder create the DVD folders, create a DVD-Video compilation, copy the files VideoBuilder created into the proper folders in the Nero compilation, then add the additional folders to the root of the compilation. A DVD created in this fashion works on my computers (DVD player and PC files) and in my regular DVD player. This is NOT to say it will work in all computers or DVD players. 2) If VideoBuilder believes I am creating an illogical disc, why crash instead of just warning me? Whether or not it is a "bad" format, the program shouldn't just hang. Like I said before, I have a work around. I would like to be able to help improve VideoBuilder as much as I can. Dave
  15. I tried some more testing to narrow down the problem. Using the "include additional files..." option: A single file small file - Worked Two folders with a handfull of small files - Worked Three large files totalling 1 GB - Worked But if I try to burn 54 folders, 3,000 files totaling 1.6 GB of data, it will fail. I can only assume it's the directory structure depth or the number of files. If I have time, I may try to narrow it down farther. Until then, I just burn the DVD folders, then use Nero to create a DVD-Video disk and add my data files to the compilation. Dave
  16. I'm using Beta 8g. If I don't use "Include addition files and folders..." I can burn a DVD. But if I try to include any additional files, the burn process "Starts" and goes no farther than 0%. The log files didn't have any useful information in them as I can see. Is this a working option? Dave
