  1. Duh! I forgot about Mediafire. Here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?7g1hcsdeclp Enjoy
  2. My little attempt at a "super-zoom" effect: this little flower is about 1/4" in diameter. To put it another way, if the first frame is 100%, the final frame is 2200%. Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?7g1hcsdeclp I did this very quickly so the transitions may not be perfect. Basically I set up my camera on a tripod and set it up for fixed aperture (F8) , fixed exposure times (1/13 sec), manual focus and a delayed shutter trip. I then took four shots, two at the extreme of my camera's zoom plus two at arbitrary zoom settings. I then added the four shots to Pictures2EXE from farthest out to closest in (shot1, shot2, shot3 and shot4) and set the "center" for all four shots to the middle of the flower I was to zoom in on. I then copied shot2 to shot1's frame and set shot2's opacity to 50%. I then added a keypoint for shot1 at the extreme end of it's timeline and zoomed shot1 until it matched shot2 (at 100%). You may have to nudge shot1 side-to-side or top-to-bottom to get shot1 to line up with shot2. Once you are happy that you have matched the shots, delete shot2 from shot1's frame. Repeat for the remaining three shots. If you can set your camera for full manual and if your lens is accurate enough, this method will work. BTW: The camera is a 3.2 megapixel Canon S1 IS which has a 10x optical zoom. The end zooms on each Pictures2EXE frame are 184%, 218%, 209% and 250%.
  3. Now that we are "pre-release", would it be possible to create a comprehensive list of the keyboard controls for inside a EXE presentation and inside of Pictures2Exe itself? Thanks.
  4. I have created a series of animations involving several images, but after I'm done, I decided I started the sequence too late and need to move all of the animation keypoints about 1 second to the left. Any one have a tricky way of moving all of those keypoints earlier without affecting their relathionship to each other? Thanks. Dave
  5. Currently I live in a third-world country with no resources other than what I get shipped to me, so my situation skews my answers. I too have an Epson 3490 and am generally pleased with the results. Not very fast, but it works. If I was faced with a large job (more than 30 slides) and could find a service to do the scanning for me, I would certainly go for it. My time is worth money. Having just gone through scanning over 700 slides myself I certainly would have liked finding someone else to do it but I'm all there is here. On factor in the "do it yourself" or using a service decison that I find important for me, is by the time I have scanned all of those slides, the pictures are no longer fresh and exciting to me and lets face it, it's a tiring process so I may not approach the rest of the presentation as excited as I once was. Another factor is whether you are creating a slideshow AND archiving the slides. If so, 1024 by 768 is most likely not enough. On a batch of particularly important slides, I scanned them in at 1223 by 8191 (9600 DPI for the Epson). Overkill I know, but these slides are from the 1960s and starting to show problems. My two cents.
  6. Resolution is not directly the target to hit, it's dots or pixels. The "wisdom" of those who have done more than me is 1024 by 768. Anything more is just wasted and will increase your slideshow size and possible make it more jerky.
  7. Any recommends for a cheaper (but still good) dedicated slide scanner? Something with a input tray to accept 10+ slides for batch scanning? Dave
  8. nobeefstu, I want to thank you for referancing Sergey's comment; I had totally overlooked it. Sergey your mention of the AviFile series of functions was the clue I needed. I found this website (http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/im/en/doxygen/group__avi.html) which helped me convert the file. I used MediaCoder (http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/) to convert the files. It will actually use the VOB files from a DVD directly along with many other formats. I found that if I converted the file to an AVI container using a format of "MS-MPEG4-V2" with an audio encoder or "Waveform", Video Builder would import the file. Thanks again for a great product. This was the last step in a pair of presentations containing over 500 pictures and about 6 months of work without a single crash! Dave
  9. Actually, I've gotten several v1 AVI files to work and they definitely didn't come from P2EXE so I'm not sure this is correct. Dave
  10. Is there an explaination available of the contents of the INI file itself? cdCount and cdIndex specifically... Dave
  11. The only common thread I can find between AVI files Video Builder can import and the files it can't are the files it can import are AVI v1 and the ones it can't are AVI v2 files. Are they're any other video files it can import? Any know how to convert AVI v2 to v1 files? Dave
  12. I can add Pictures2Exe AVI files to the project file, just not AVI files from other sources. Any ideas what the critera is for being able to do this? Dave
  13. Using V5 Beta 16, I'd like to add an AVI file created in a video editor. In the file browser window, the file is represented by a red X. If I add it to the project anyway and try to burn the project, it fails. What does VideoBuilder mean by "video files" (Add Pictures2EXE project files of video files here)? Is it possible to an AVI file (or some other format) not created by P2E to a VideoBuilder project? Thanks.
  14. I'm trying my first menu application with Pictures2EXE. It works great and worked the first time. Yeah!! However, being the ex-Quality Assurance/Software tester that I am, I tried to trip it up. I moved the two executables to a different directory and it still worked! So my question is, since I specified the fully qualified path ("C:\temp\Pictures\Demo.exe") in the project and then moved the EXE files to another location (they no longer existed in the previous location) and it worked, how does P2Exe locate the file to run? Does it use the current working directory first? On another similar front: I did a hex dump of the menu EXE and saw paths specified to a Buttons directory. I renamed the directory and the EXE still worked flawlessly so it would seem to not be needed. So is the fact that the button path is in the EXE just a leftover? In case you missed it, I couldn't confuse P2Exe, it worked perfectly. I would just like to be able to understand how it does it's great work. Dave
  15. Other than 128 MB or 256 MB, AGP or better cards, what else should I look for to make P2EXE run at it's best? Anything? Dave
  16. I hope some one writes a tutorial on this powerful feature. If you are wondering about how to get to the sissors and glue stage of things, create a slide with several keypoints, then choose "Setting up" under Pan/Zoom/Rotate. Once you press "Separate here" for a time segment (the section of time between two keypoints), you can set the speed options for each segment. So you can pan, keypoint, zoom, keypoint, pan, keypoint, zoom, then add the smooth option for each segment (and separately for pan and zoom and rotate) and get a fairly fluid motion. Dave
  17. I'm wondering why you would want it disabled? Just a thought... Dave
  18. I was able to locate the waveform file I was talking about. It is located in X:\Documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Temp with an extension of WMC. (Thanks SysInternals' Filemon). If I delete this file, the waveform will be rebuilt the next time I enter the timeline.
  19. Sorry for my lack of detail. I started a project in 8u with a shortened soundtrack. I completed the presentation which was much longer than my shorted soundtrack. I completed the soudtrack (same filename) and replaced the file (an MP3). Everything played fine but the waveform was still from the shorter MP3 file. I removed the file from the project and readded it but still got the old waveform. I removed the MP3 file and renamed it and still got the old waveform. The reason I think there is a temporary file somewhere containing the waveform pattern is because normally the first time your press the waveform button, the waveform is generated after a delay. Thereafter, the waveform is immedaitely displayed. Any ideas? Dave

  21. I've tried re-adding the file and renaming it and re-adding it and the waveform is still wrong. I assume there is a temp file somewhere that I should be able to delete. Any ideas where it might be?
  22. Welcome gman, you must be new around here. Please read the posting entitled "Release date for version 5?". They are working on a new release. The key here is patience. Dave
  23. SYP? Translation, please.
  24. Error messages would be nice.
  25. I've seen a much bigger, more complete list somewhere... Dave
