Hi Dom
Thanks for looking at the problem, but I don't seem to understand the instructions. Would it be possible to send the file back to me with the revised setting, I think that you have my email address.

Lin
As always, thank you for your very detailed response, you certainly know your PTE. We are very fortunate to have you as part of the forum.

Hi Mike,
I just sent you an email with modifications to your PTE file.
The problem, as I see it, was that you had a non-linear motion set for one slide and linear for others.
Visualize what is happening with linear and non-linear motion with this scenario:
Imagine a "race" to a start and finish line between two images with different motions. The first image has linear motion, meaning that it jumps out of the start blocks with a given speed, maintains that speed until near the finish line then jars to a stop.
Imagine that the second image starts much more slowly and accelerates to a given speed, maintains that speed for a given time then smoothly slows to a stop.
The "rules" for the race are that both contestants must start and finish at precisely the same times. This then means that during the "race" the smooth images must catch and "pass" the linear image in position somewhere along the race course because the linear image will be gaining on the smooth image while the smooth image is slowing to a stop.
As this relates to your issue, if one image is "smooth" while the other images are "linear" then there must be positional compensation somewhere in order for them to finish together. That compensation is near the "end" of the race when the smooth image arrives "early" because of its greater speed in motion along the course, then must "wait" for the linear images to catch up. This accounts for the hesitation near the end and the "sliding" into position.
Hopefully, this makes sense.
Best regards,
Lin

Yes, I received your email, although it was related to a different situation, on this posting both, in fact all animations are smooth. I accept in the other situation I had mixed linear and smooth animations.

Dom
Yes, I have check it out on all images.

Hello Barry/Xaver
Thanks for your response, I will certainly take your comments on board.
Would someone please help me with another related problem. I have setup a number of keyframes, and elected to use the smooth setting, between the fourth and fifth keyframe I want the image to move to the right and at the same time reduce in size from a zoom setting of 45%/45% to 25%/25%. What seems to happen is that immediately after the fourth keyframe the image moves slightly to the left before then moving to the right. Hopefully the attached thumbnails below will illustrate the problem.

Hi Dom
I am sure that you are right, it all depends on the situation, and like with Xaver, your advise is most appreciated.

Xaver
That is most interesting, thanks for your advise.

If you are going to use the pan and zoom features in PTE, is it always better to use the smooth setting rather than linear? If this is the case what is the optimum setting for the various keyframes, is it the default 20/80 or something different. If different, how does one fix the settings, is it all by trial and error or is the more calculated method.

Yes I think that you are right, I did not separate the keypoints, just coming to terms with the process and I take the point about a Shadow effect, good idea.

Hello Dom
Yes, we love Paris, we had a great weekend there last year. We know the city reasonably well, I worked for an Anglo-French company for 18 years and spent a lot of time in Paris.
Thanks for your comments, I hadn't noticed the cursor. I am having problems using the smooth option, when I do it changes the setting of the objects, not sure what is coursing the trouble.

Slideshows4U - Carousel Template
The Carousel Template, by default contains 20 landscape images, these ideally should be landscape with a 4:3 aspect ratio, we recommend an image size of 1024 px by 768 px.
This Demo, by default is played in SD quality. To view in HD quality click the HD button at the bottom of the display viewer.
To view at full screen, click the second icon in from the right of the display viewer.
For an even better quality display, download a virus free .exe file from Here.

It sounds that this maybe the problem, sorry for the false alarm, will try what TheDom suggests and give it another go.

Version 5.7 BETA9
I am experiencing problems with the 'Linearity' settings, I have the keypointd setup to pan and zoom an image. When I change from Linear to any of the other settings I loose the zoom effect, is this a bug?

Ken
I am sure JPD did, it is a very useful process.

Dom
Thank you very much, but I cannot fully understand the process, could you post an .pte file?

Hi Everyone
Clearly I must have been doing the Hark Method wrong, that's why it didn't work for me, funny do it right and it all works out OK.
-
Hi Dom
Can I ask how you produced the negative effect, I think that it is very good.

Xaver
Thanks for your help, I most have missed that development, must try to catch up with all the new feature in PTE. Problem is there are so many improvement it is difficult to keep track. Thanks again.

Hi
I seem to have lost the ability to use the Hawk Method to transfer a slide from one open PTE project into another open PTE project. Is this the case or have I forgotten how to do it correctly. As I say, I have two projects open and I am trying to copy and paste slides from one to the other. What I can do is go into Objects & Animations and copy the file structure and then paste that into another O&A window in another project.

PTE 5.7 BETA2
Is this right and if so would someone please explain the reason to me.
I have noticed that the postion and size of the pixels in the parent change when you have a border. Why does the first numbers change, but not the second set of numbers. Please see attached thumbnail.
Also I have noticed that if I setup a parent with a Native Size of 1280 by 720 and add a landscape image of 1024 px by 768 px, with a zoom of 90%. Then if I copy and paste the slide to create a new slide and then change the image to portrait it takes up the same size as the landscape image. The lower part of the portrait image is not shown. But if I import a new portrait image into the same parent and adjust the zoom to 90% the whole image is shown. Is this a bug in the system or am I doing something wrong.

Also thanks for everyone's comments, I have taken the samples off my server.

Hi Lin
I have been looking at producing a slideshow with a mood background, something that changes with each image shown. I have considered a couple of processes and they look at the overall profile of the image and determine a specific colour for the background.
Would you have a look at the attached examples and give me some feedback on which you feel creates the better mood.

Hello Lin
I had seen TheDom's effect but had forgotten it, it is very effective, as all of Dom's effects. But it is not giving me what I would like to see, perhaps Igor can come up with something in the future.
