  1. For Ken and Tom I am using Version 6.5 Operation System is W7 Professional The last operation before the error appeared was: I atempted to open a PTE file which is stored on an external hard drive. I was not in PTE when I attempted to open the PTE file. I had found it on the external HD and opened it. I immediately got the error message and the PTE screen was faded out and different from the normal screen. Hope this helps Thanks for the quick reply. Before I did a reboot, I did a restore back for two days. That got rid of the error message. A reboot will also correct the problem. However, an attempt to open a previously stored PTE slide show from an external HD will cause the problem to reappear; so I know where the problem comes from, I just don't know the why or what a floating Point Error is. I am going to try and move the PTE show file from the external HD to the Main drive and see what happens. I will let you know. JED

  3. Invalid Floating Point Operation I just started getting this error message. I have no idea what caused it or how to correct it. Help please!! JED
  4. First, let me admit my ignorance on my subject. My new computer has a Blu-Ray burner. It is a multiple burner drive,i.e, CD,DVD or BD. I would like my slide shows to be in Blu-Ray. When I get to the burn command in PTE, PTE designates the basic drive but does not differentriate between the available formates, therefore, I have no idea if I am about to burn a BD. Could the answer be as simple as the computer knows what disc is in the drive and will burn that format?? Thanks for any and all replies. Feeling dumb in Amarillo, JD
  5. I have had so many problems attempting V 6.0.1 to work on windows 7 without success that I was wondering will V 5.5 work on win 7 and can it still be downloaded and where? Jim
  6. I have been working to solve my PTE problems with Win 7 for some time now. Since there are so few posts on Win 7 problems,I have assumed that I am the cause of my problem and have tried different solutions. One thing that I just tried was to un-install PTE, disconnect all three external hard drives and re-install PTE to the C drive of my new computer. I was overjoyed with the results. Everything worked fine until the software started to burn the DVD. The DVD burned ok, however, it burned in the trial version mode. I have a licensed deluxe edition of V6.0.1 per the help menu. I also have the Reg.text sent to me earlier. Whenever I attempt to burn a disc, I get the following pop-up" PTE Deluxe Key has expired" Below these words I have the option to insert a key, which I do and the response is that "the registration key has been successfully loaded. Please click the OK button then exit and manually restart Video builder" This starts the circle and around and around I go repeating the same problem. One other thing that happens, even in the trial mode, is the software pop-up window comes up and says" the burn process is complete, click ok to eject the disc" Clicking OK will not eject the disc, nothing happens. The green % of completion slider reads 99% and never goes higher. I have to manually eject the disc, which still leaves the software program open. The only option remaining is to "cancel". Doing so does nothing and the only exit from the software is to "X" out. I would sincerely appreciate any and all help. Jim
  7. e.b.WEST Sorry for the delay. Its the Holidays and I have had company and not enought time to work on my problem and answer your query. More specifically, I was able to make the software work "ONE" time.Afterwards I wrote the reply that I had solved my problem. Wrong!!.. I still cannot burn a disc. My procedure is as follows. From the file menu, I select new and title my project.I then open the pictures that I want in that project. I go thru the normal building process,i.e., select all the photos for the project, select the music and them preview. When I am happy with the results, I save the project. As I stated in my earlier post, every thing is working ok up to this point. The next step in the process is to create a disc. When I select the create button, the large drop-down menu appears. I select "DVD-Video Disc" from the menu. What follows is: The upper half of the software window now shows the named project on the upper right 2/3's of the screen as a " BLANK" square and shows the same "BLANK" square in the bottom 1/3 rd of the screen. The only option remaining is the "NEXT buttom at the bottom right. Selecting that freezes the software. The time that I was able to make the software work, I actually had the first picture of my presentation showing in the "BLANK" square. I have not been able to duplicate that. I have un-installed and re-installed the software with the same results. I continue to work on this as I have time. Since there are not that many post on Win7 problems, I honestly feel that I am most probably the cause of the problem. I will update as changes occur. Jdearman
  8. Igor, I as able to solve my problem listed in my last post. The feedback explanation is legnthly. If you wish it all, please just post your desire and I will respond. I do have an additional problem with windows 7. Specifically, when the burn is complete, the popup window prompt says"Burn process is completed, click OK to eject the disc" Clicking OK does not eject the disc. The percent of operation completion says 99%-- running time remaining is o.oo. I must manually eject the disc, which plays perfectly, however, the burn process window remains on. Clicking the cancel button produces a pop up window asking" Do you really want to cancel the operation yes or no" Selecting either yes or no does nothing. The other buttons on the screen( Back or Close) are greyed-out and not usable. The only exit is to select the window close out X in the top right of the screen. This selection produces another pop up which says" Video builder is not responding" and gives you two options-close out the program or wait for the program to respond. I tried waiting on the program to correct. It failed to do so after a long period of time. Repetitive section of the "X" out of the main window will finally close out the screen and takes you right back to the starting pointing with the PTE screen. Any advice? How 'bout remove and replace the software? Jim
  9. Igor, I wii be alittle more specific as to my problem and brief, I hope. Everything works fine up to the point of creating a DVD video. Depressing the create buttom at the bottom left of the screen produces a drop down menu from which I select DVD-Video Disc. The PTE file appears showing the first picture of the presentation. FYI, the create menu box is checked. The upper left of the screen that previously listed the name of my project, now says " untitled wnsoft video builder 6.0" I checked project options at the bottom left and changed the menu ratio to 16.9 and clicked ok. The only option remaining to me is the "next" buttom at the bottom right. When depressed, the software freezes and the upper left of the screen now reads" untitled wnsoft video builder 6.0 not responding" Win 7 professional 64bit New computer, factory installed version As far as I can tell, all windows updates are done Thanks, Jim
  10. Igor, I have the same basic problem as EB West posted today. The only difference between our configurations is I am running Windows 7 professional version. J dearman

  12. I was using v 5.5 when my old computer crashed; so I purchased a new one running Windows 7. I have long since misplaced any auth. codes used to load the software and now cannot load it on my new machine. Can you help? The email address used when I originally purchased v 5.1 was: jdearman2@wildblue.net Thanks, Jim
  13. What causes the occassional blue screen with the comment" Image load error" Is this something that I caused or what? What is the best and fastest way to correct the situation? Thanks Jim
  14. Today I am having a problem that I have never had before. Specifically: When I open PTE 5.5 and attempt to load photos to start a show, I get the following message" Project files created in PTE v 1.00-1.60 are no longer supported now" How do I correct this? Jim
  15. Thanks Peter You solved it for me. Following your advice, I transferred some large photo files to a backup hard drive and voila, my problem went away. Thanks for taking the time to help. Also, thanks to Limey and David G for your assistance. Jim
  16. I am attempting burn a slide show DVD. Everything looks good until I get to the burn command. The bar across the bottom of the screen indicates my show has 1.75 gb and the small vertical red bar depicting the max gb available is far to the right. When I depress the burn command, a window pops up and says" there is not enough space on the disc to complete the operation, free 4.27gb, required 5.71gb" The disc I am using is new and unused. I am lost. According to the error message, I have more than the 1.75gb indicated on the bar, but where did the 5.71gb come from? and how do I correct my error? Sincerely appreciate your responses. Jim
  17. Thanks for the reply Lin, I am afraid that my problem is deeper. I do not have image holding files for the two segments; so I cannot open any files in the upper section of PTE, cannot copy and cannot paste. Is there any hope? Jim
  18. I have goofed up and could use your assistance. I am working on a large genealogical slide show with multiple segments. I did segment one and saved it as a Picture to Exe project file. I then did segment two separately in PTE and saved it as a Picture to Exe project file. My plan was to open segment one and then open segment two and add it to the tail end of segment one. I can open segment two, but it will replace segment one. Catch 22, I can't get there from here. Is there some way short of just doing segment two all over again that I can add segment two to the end of segment one and then save both under one file name? I would appreciate any assistance you might be able to give me. Jim jdearman2@wildblue.net
  19. I am working on a pictorial family history. Currently, it contains around 2500 photos. Each is sized to 1024px X 867px. I would like to use PTE 5.1 with transitions and music. Can PTE handle this? Jim
  20. Ken, I am very disapointed with the quality of the DVD produced with the software. The resolution is just not there IMO. I tried the DVD with an upconverter on a 32" HD TV and still "no joy" As a after thought, I took the DVD down to the local electronics store and played it on a BluRay player and a Sony HDTV. The result "knocked my socks off". Again IMO, I think it is going to take a Bluray burner/player on a HDTV to produce the results that I am looking for. Jim
