  1. Getting back to the subject at the start of the thread (started by me) As far as I can see no one has really grasped what I want to achieve - may be I should have said that I want to be able to lock the start of a music track to a particular point in the slide show - it is not just a comment/sound for ONE slide which I would do as you have described. Peter has understood me correctly but no one has come up with a solution - that is why I posted it in the 'suggestions for next version' category. Thanks again for your time. Joy
  2. Yes I have got that message too when downloading 7.06 Joy
  3. It would be really useful to be able to lock a specific sound file to a certain slide so that the synchronisation isnt changed from that point onwards if slide timings are changed or slides added/removed before that point. Thanks Joy
  4. I have just noticed 3 buttons called 'New Transtition' 'Cut Transition' and 'timed points' in the timeline view - can anyone explain these? - maybe these will answer my original query? Dont want to mess around too much in case they mess up my 'work in progress! Thanks Joy
  5. Hello again Thanks for your answers which have pointed out the difference between the synchronise music/sldies and auto spread - but I would still like to know the best way if there is one of 'locking' the start of a music track to a particular slide so that if other slides are added or deleted the lock point stays in position and the timings of the slides in between are auto adjusted accordingly. If this isnt possible it would be an extremely useful feature for future versions of PTE!!!! In answer to Dave - I dont join all my music into one MP3 (maybe that would be better? ) - I have separate tracks to suit the mood/content of the slides but to be really effective the start of a different music track needs to synch with a particular slide which, if other slides are added or removed - this gets messed up!! Thanks again Joy
  6. Hello Again I am back working on my slideshow again and I have carefully worked out the times of where certain parts of the show start and then edited the lengths of my background tracks so that certain tracks synch with that point on the slideline. When I have replayed the show I have realised it would be better with a title slide at the start which is quite long. This has thrown out the timings of the exisiting slides and their start point on the music track. I know you may say that I should have done the show in its entirety before adding the music but I just wondered if there was a was a way of locking a slide to a particular point on the music and then adjusting the timings of the othre slides before it to accomodate the lentgh of the additional slide? I am still unsure about sycnh slide to music or automatically spread settings in the music menu - I suspect it may be somthing to change here - I normally find I have more control if I go with synch slides to music option. Thanks Joy
  7. Hello and thanks for your advice but it seems I haven't made myself clear. To simplify : What I want to do is replace the slides I have with all their customisations (only duration and transition though - no animation) - with other images that I have put a border around (in a programme outside pte) and if possible keep the customisations. If I bring in the images with borders on - as new slides then I will have to repeat all the customisations - that is what I am trying to avoid. Thanks Joy
  8. Hello Again I have just added 100 individual slide to my show and customised their duration and transition times. I have now decided to add a line border to the images which I have done and saved in a separate file so as not to destroy the original. Is there a way to replace my existing sled and still keep the same customisations in the slides ? Thanks again Joy
  9. Hello Peter Think I have solved the jumping problem myself - not sure if its new in PTE7 but the default transition seems to be a 5 second fade ? which is what I wanted so I left it as was - when I actually checked the box to control my own transitions and entered the same 5sec with fade in/out - it did it all smoothly!! I make my slides 1600 x 1200 (96dpi) unless I want to zoom in then I do them larger with the same ratio. - Is that OK (thats always been a bit of a mystery to me too as you will gather from my early posts!) Regarding the batch resize - thanks I didn't know about that facility - I think that will solve that problem! Brilliant thanks again Joy
  10. Hi I am doing a simple show with no animations but where the slides have a long fade transition between them. The fade is gradual until the end and then it jumps. Can anyone tell me how I can solve this problem so it is smooth a all the way through. Also - I have put a border on all my slides which shows up well on the landscape photos but the vertical ones go right up to the perimeter of the viewing space. I would like an area of border around i.e. - they don't quite fill the whole viewing area in their height. I have been going into the silde object & animation menu and just reducing the overall size of the vertical images to show a small border at the top and bottom. Is there a way I can batch do this action on all the vertical photos? Thanks for you help. Joy
  11. Hello Thanks for your reply What software would you use to extract the audio at CBR 192kbps please - the highest that all of my programmes will do is 128kbps. Thanks Joy
  12. Hello I have invested in a top quality mic to record some live music plyed for a wedding ceremony on my Canon 5D Mk11 I am not bothered about the video as I want to add the sound behind the slideshow. I have extracted the sound as a WAV file which is uncompressed but very big, I have done some slight adjustments in audacity and I would like to know what is the best quality file format to export it from audacity with the intention of adding it to my PTE project. I have the latest version of PTE (I think!) Thanks Joy
  13. Thanks so much for your quick reply Peter - I knew I had forgotten a simple rule! Thanks - all working as I wanted now!! I see you live in Yorkshire - Do you give any PTE 'talks' at camera clubs or do any private workshops at all? I am in Sheffield (though I know that isn't 'real Yorkshire!) Joy
  14. Hello I have done this numerous times before but for some reason it is not working for me - please could someone tell me how to join two slideshows created using a template together. This is what I normally do: 1 Open the 2nd of the 2 slideshows 2 Highlight all the slides 3 Right click >> copy 4 Open the first slideshow and click on slide before you want to insert the other show (i.e. before the end credits) 5 Then right click and paste is usually available - but for some reason it isn't!! I have also tried opening both shows before I do the 'copy' but again it doesn't give me the paste option. Please can you spot where I am going wrong? Thanks Joy Newbould
  15. Just thought I would let you know the latest in this saga... I have today updated my Fusion 4 with their latest update which claims to fix a lot of compatibility problems and fixes bugs with the original version. I then of course had to have a go at burning the same show as I had all the problems with before in the hope that it might just work....... Unbelievably - it did!! I tried it on the TV and yes - The DVD player read and played the disc and the disc was also recognised in windows/fusion4 (but still of course appeared blank still in MAC finder ) I couldn't believe it! So I then went on to burn another as the one I had just done was on a re-writabe DVD so as not to waste another if it didn't work. You can probably guess where this is going.....! when I tried on my usual DVD-R disc it didn't work - the disc wasn't recognised in either windows/fusion or by the DVD/TV player - so the problem may not to be with the DRM licenses but the type of disc I am using?? (yet video builder got to the end successfully and seemingly closed the disc at the end of the burn process) Anybody's constructive thoughts would yet again be appreciated! Joy
  16. HI Everyone I am today back trying to solve the WINDOWS 7/MAC/PTE7/FUSION problem of creating a DVD from a PTE show. I have now upgraded the Fusion 3 to the new Fusion 4 and tried again - but the problem still exists - i.e. it goes through all the motions - the pte show renders fine and i get the tick to say completed OK at the end but then the DVD isn't recognised by anything and seems blank although there is something visibly on it. I have created an ISO file - I am now trying to find the best programme to create a DVD movie from this in MAC - will any quality be lost by doing it this way?? Thanks Joy
  17. Yes well thats me!! So I will be doing it just as soon as I get a minute!! Thanks Joy
  18. Wow - thats saved me a huge chunk of time - thank you KEN enjoy your Lowenbrau - certainly was a good deed! Joy
  19. Thanks to everyone for taking such an interest! When I get the time this is what I am going to do: 1. Update PTE to latest non-beta version 2. check for windows 7 and vmware updates (fusion 3) 3. Check is Windows DVD Maker (yachtsman 1 suggestion) will creat DVD from an ISO file. 4. If it doesn't I will have a look into getting Creator or Toast and burn from the ISO fiels (which normally I don't even choose to make due to their size!) I will try and do this in the next couple of days and will let you know the outcome - please could you check back and once again give me the benefit of your experience. Thanks Joy
  20. HI Dave I have just come to have a ago at burning a DVD from my fusion/windows on my Mac and realised I don't have any other DVD creating software other than the PTE video builder. Can you tell me more about 'creator' is it built into windows 7 or is there anything that will create DVD's built in? Thanks Joy Joy
  21. Hello again NoBeefstu No I must admit I haven't tried burning any other DVDs either from the MAC or Windows/Fusion part of my computer - I will have a go tomorrow. But it seems odd that the disc appears blank both in the mac finder view and in the windows explorer when there is definitely something on it and the PTE seemingly converted fine. Thanks again for you help - who is Tom? Joy
  22. Hello Brian On the reply you have just sent all I got was the quote of my last message to you - not your reply - Thanks
  23. Hello Brian Thanks so much for taking the time to reply in so much detail - not all of which I understand! I was under the impression that if I chose to export the show to a 'DVD-video disc' as it calls it under the publish menu - that this would be playable on a standard home DVD player which it always has done before. As I am doing this from the windows/fusion 3 part of my MAC I wouldn't have thought the MAC side of it would have any influence on the final outcome. As far as I understand choosing this option will create a DVD movie for ordinary DVD/TV players? If this is not the case - do you know of any other DVD authoring software that will convert Pics to Exe shows into shows which are playable on standard DVD player. (I can't really see what the MAC has to do with it when I am using Windows 7/Fusion 3 on it.) Sorry if I have misunderstood something. Thanks again JOy
  24. HI I have recently changed my computer to MAC and have bought FUSION 3 so that I am still able to create slideshows in PTE. I am using PTE 7 Beta 12 - Deluxe version and I have created my show and also created a DVD video version of it which has run smoothly and come up with the 'successful tick' at the end. There is clearly something on the dVD but when I come to play it on my DVD player or on my computer it appears blank! I transferred the whole thing back to my old PC - did exactly the same thing and it worked fine! I thought at first it was because my source images were not stored on the windows partition of my mac hard drive so I moved them all and rebuilt the show - but this didn't solve the problem. Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong please? Thanks Joy Newbould
  25. Thanks to everyone for all their opinions and advice! I think I have got the message that I need to avoid the traditional 4:3 format and that the best one to go for which would last the longest in terms of keeping up with fast advancing technology would be a 1920x1080 - full HD - These however are a bit out of my price range at the moment! Could I ask some of you to have a look at these 2 which seem to offer a happy medium in terms of format and most of all price: http://www.projectorsite.co.uk/index.php?p=product&id=123&parent=6 and also http://projectorsector.com/epages/eshop659767.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop659767/Products/hd75 Would they be a good compromise and which of the two is better? Thanks again Joy
