I am thinking of getting a digital projector and have been reading up on what to look for. I understand the higher lumen output and contrast ratio the better. I don't want to pay the earth as it won't be used that much so will probably have to settle for on of the older 4:3 native format machines. I have seen a few NEC models advertised which seem to be good value - does anyone know of these? or maybe someone could recommend a good one which gives good balance of brightness contrast and price! I will be unlikely to use it in a very big room from a big distance but may sometimes want it running in the corner of a large room with the projector fairly near the screen. I would welcome any advice Thanks Joy

I want to add a small video file to my slideshow and I have been experimenting with different formats - the original is a .mov file created on a Mac - but this is very big (60MB for 1.5mins) - can anyone summarise which would be the best type of video to use in terms of size economy and still maintain quality? I have created a small video which is a .mov format and in an attempt to reduce its overall size I have converted it to AVI. When I add this to a slide show I hear the sound but just get a green(?) background and no pictures. I have found a previous post saying I may need to configure the video/audio codecs in windows but I don't get that option in hardware and sound options on Windows 7 Ultimate - can anyone suggest how I can get picture to display properly??

Hello Everyone! I have just got a Mac and after extensive research into software I havent discovered an equvalent of PTE made for MAC so I have had to get Fusion3 and Windows7 - I now want to install PTE 7 onto this - can I use the exisiting seriel code and also keep it installed on my old machine? Also - how do I find the exisiting seriel code? Thanks Joy

Hello again I have archived a slideshow with its associated images on an external drive which following an update is now playing up and constantly using all my system resources so I have had to disconnect it. I have managed to copy the pte show over (with the associated images/music) to my PC harddrive but now when I try and open it all the image and sound files are missing as PTE is still looking for them on the external drive. Is there a way I can force PTE to look for the images on the harddrive? Thanks JOy

Hello - please forgive me if I am stating the obvious but am I right in thinking that PTE for Mac is still not available? but exe slideshows and also videos created on a windows PC can be played back on a Mac?? I am thinking of buyimg a Mac but I am a bit confused as to how far PTE has been developed for Mac. Thanks Joy

Thanks so much for that - after a bit of hunting I found that my photos were 'colour match RGB?' so I set up an action to convert them to SRGB and the colours are now ok in PTE!! Brilliant - thanks JOy

Hello I have tried to get consisitency of colour balance between Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom and have achieved this by using an external monitor calibrator. However after I have spent a lot of time getting the correct 'blue' of some bridesmaids dresses in these 2 programs I then bring the images into PTE and the colour balance has gone out the window! The blue dresses are now more turquoise blue than what they should be! This is very frustrating - how can I get consistencency over all three programmes - I cant see any provision to tell PTE what colour profile to use although it is just the common SRGB. Can anyone help please? Thanks Joy

Is there a step-by-step guide to using this layer method on PTE and also a demo of the effect it produces - it sounds really interesting and I would like to have a go! Thanks Joy

Hello I have recently moved alot of my old PTE slideshows along with their accompanying images (which I am always careful to keep together in a purpose made folder) onto an external harddrive. I now want to recreate the slideshow and burn it to a DVD disc with Video Builder deluxe. The slideshow has found all the images and music and previews fine but when I go into the video software it cant find the images even thouigh I have carfelully navigated to the place on the external drive where my slidshow now is!! Can anyone suggest a reason why??? I am at a loss as to how to now create a DVD video of my slideshow. Thanks Joy

I have created quite a complex set of animations which I want to duplicate on other slides in my show - is it possible to either add these to a template or copy and paste them quickly onto other slides? Thanks Joy

Thanks - that sounds like it may solve the problem - I have been looking into how to zip a file - I have winrar installed on my PC which I could zip it in but will my friends have to have the programme in order to unzip it?? The other one in winzip but I dont have that and cant find a way of getting it for free! (again will the receipients also have to have it?) I have tried also going to 'File' > 'create back up in zip' from within PTE but I have used a couple of pte templates in the show and a several slides have the same name but are in different folders so that seems to upset it! Any advice on how to zip a file which others will be able to open would be really appreciated - Thanks JOy

I have uploaded a slideshow in .exe format to the web hosting site 'mediafire' so that 4 of my friends can access it and download it onto their computers. However when they have downloaded it none of them can open the .exe file - I think it is their security settings which will be preventing this - but it opens without problem on my PC - can anyone suggest how to advise them so they can view the .exe file please? Thanks - I will have to start all over again because all my images are sized to 15:9 format which I thought would be the best to match the shape of the TV. Please can you just confirm - what dimensions in pixels do I need to resize my original images to if I am to have one per slide filling the screen as much as poss without distortion? It is a Philips 32" TV So do I set the format to 4:3 in the project options of the PTE show or just in the project options of the video builder??

I am tearing my hair out because I have saved my slideshow in all 6 screen formats and have established that the best one which fills my TV screen height and only has a small gap at each edge is 1200 x 768 - this plays fine via my laptop onto my TV screen from the .exe format. When I take it through video builder however and choose 16:9 option for screen size it squashes it and leaves a large gap top and bottom!! The only other option I have is 4:3 which is clearly not the correct one for a letterbox format TV screen (15:9) Please can anyone suggest what settings I choose to get my slideshow DVD to fill at least the height of my TV screen - it seems to make everyone look like dwarfs! Can anyone tell me what project options to select in the video builder to get the best quality for playing on a DVD player ? IE what settings for bitrate? Screen Aspect Ratio? Video Type? Antifliker yes or no? It is for a PAL system playing back on a 23" LCD screen TV - the show is 16:10 format. Thanks Joy

I have now successfully determined the start time of a particular track and using the additional audio features in the 6.5 version I have set it to last for 2 mins in the duration (This is less than the actual length of the track) and put in a 2 sec fade out. When I preview it however the duration and fade out settings do not have any effect and the track plays for its full length - can you tell me if its possible to fade the track out completely after a certain lentgh of time and how? Thanks to everyone I have now got the 6.5 beta version on my PC - Would you suggest it a good idea to uninstall the 6.0 version if I cant edit slideshows in that that have been edited in the 6.5 version? I am never sure if updates overwrite the previous versions or are installed alongside Thanks again Joy
