  1. Barry,

If the user has simply "trimmed" the video by dragging in the ends in the Timeline, I think that would result in the entire video clip being included in the EXE. Whereas, if they trim the video in the PTE Video Converter all the unused material will be left "on the cutting room floor".

  2. Igor,

Over 6 hours ago I created an account on the Malwarebytes forum. It said it would take 10 minutes or less for the e-mail to appear telling how to complete the account setup. I'm still waiting. Twice I have logged in directly to my online e-mail service and there is no sign of any e-mail from Malwarebytes. I have checked the SPAM folder and there is nothing in there, either. I would love to report this problem to Malwarebytes but they do not want to talk to me, it would seem. This morning Malwarebytes again quarantined PteViewer.exe, despite my having restored it from the Quarantine area yesterday. You have to admire its persistence!

    Peter

  3. I have started getting Anti-virus alerts from Malwarebytes Anti-malware. It even catches the temporary EXE file created by Publish command. The file it has started objecting to is the target of a shortcut on my Windows desktop. As an attempt to circumvent this problem I have added the folder in which the EXE is stored to the Exclusions list and have also turned off the Heuristic engine. These actions have successfully circumvented the problem.

The EXE that I hit the problem on is one that I had used several times already today, in a version that was probably built with PTE v7.5. I had cause to make changes to the project and published a fresh version of the EXE earlier today using v8.0.8. I used that successfully during the early part of the afternoon. After taking a break away from the computer, I came back and tried to run the same EXE and Malwarebytes flagged it as some kind of Trojan and has quarantined it (but I don't know where and can't seem to find out where through Malwarebytes).

  4. Stripes,

The problem you originally hit (DVD wouldn't play in a specific DVD player device) is quite likely down to the codecs involved. There are literally hundreds of different audio and video codes out there. Checking which codecs were used by PTE v7 and then choosing those when burning via PTE v8 might get you past this problem. That is, if PTE v8 allows you to customize your choice of codecs. I don't burn many DVDs so don't have a huge amount of experience to draw upon. If this isn't a codec issue then it could simply be that you chose a different brand of DVD to burn onto, and for some reason or other that brand is less compatible on this particular DVD player.

  5. Almost certainly, your images are stored on an external USB device that is not connected or has connected but with a different drive letter to that which it had when you built the PTE project.

Be aware that PTE does not copy any of your images into the PTE project. It simply adds pointers to where they are located. The images (and sound and video) are added only when you Publish the project. At the point of Publish, all the source files (image, sound and video) must reside on devices that are currently connected and with the same drive letter as they had previously.

  6. Gary,

The behaviour you want already exists; at least, something very like it does.

Drag your first slide into the Slide List, go to the Properties tab in O&A, and set up your border on this first slide. Then click on the link "Save and use by default" at the bottom of the Properties panel. Last time I used this setting I got the impression it was remembered like a Settings > Preference (i.e. the value persisted across all projects until I changed it again).

  7. The issue I have with the Adobe system is the necessity of the system to "phone home" when being used.

    Lin,

The Adobe Photoshop CC system does most emphatically NOT need to "phone home" in order to use it. I have regularly demonstrated using Photoshop CC on my laptop with no Internet access. You are propagating a common fallacy about the Creative Cloud offering. Of course, if you have chosen to store your image files on the cloud then, yes, you will need Internet access. But that is true for all files that you store up in the clouds - not just Adobe Photoshop CC.

  8. Maggie,

Try shutting off the laptop display when sending the video card output to the projector. This has been known to "resolve" the issue for some users.

Do both laptops have the same amount of native RAM on the graphics card?

Do both laptops have the same amount of main memory RAM?

Are both laptops running exactly the same other programs - i.e. are they making exactly the same demand for memory, CPU and graphics? For example: do you both use the same anti-virus software? Do you have exactly the same software updates applied?

It is very, very difficult to make exact comparisons between personal computers because each person will have set up their systems differently; each person's hard drive will have fragmented differently.

    regards,

    Peter
