  1. Hi Barry Have you thought about contacting "New World " directly? Their web site doesn't seem to be working today at http://www.newworldmusic.co.uk The address on my music cassette is : Paradise Farm, Westhall. Halesworth, Suffolk, 1P9 8RH - not so very far from you! If you rang them they might get someone to write something especially for you, especially if it's for a magazine CD with some publicity for them - or give you permission to use something. I contacted them directly some years ago when I was producing my Dolphin Dream sequence and they were very helpful. Of course apart from their permission directly, my IAC licence covered my use of the music too as an amateur. Bill's music suggestions contained many tracks from New Age Music. Their Cds & cassettes are widely available and as Bill mentioned, often very suitable for some AVs. Hope you & Caz will return one day. Love to you both. Maureen Great to see so many DAV friends active in the Forum! www.digital-av.co.uk (still working on it!)
  2. Hi I've been contacted by someone who wishes to show some digital AV sequences in the States. I'm happy to send work on CDs but I'm not clear how our British IAC licences cover the copyright issues in other countries, particularly the USA. Does anyone have any knowledge of this copyright issue. I know I will be able to send sequences using copyright free music. Many Thanks for all the help. Best wishes Maureen
  3. Greetings to all our friends at Gaphe! Robert and I had a wonderful time when we attended the AV Festival at Hayange. Unfortunatley we will not be able to join you this year as there is a clash with British AV weekends. We hope we can arrange 2004 dates so that the french and british AV festivals do not clash. Maybe you will all be able to come over to the 2004 IAC Geoffrey Round Digital AV Competition This will take place in Haworth, in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, where the Bronte Sisters lived. To be held at The Three Sisters Hotel on Saturday March 27th 2004. We hope the event will have FIAP Patronage. The three Judges are: 1 Jacques Denis MFIAP, Hon EFIAP, Vice President of FIAP and President of the AV Commission. (Chairman) 2 Doug Mackrell FRPS, AFIAP Leeds & District AV Group 3 Valrie Ellis FACI, President of IAC. You can see more details on the web site for av world at http://www.avworld.org We look forward to meeting up with you again in the future and wish you all a very happy and successful Festival. love from Maureen & Robert Albright
  4. Hi bwiley Welcome to the Forum! There has been some discussion about copyright free musice etc on the Forum in the past. try .......... http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...usicentry2041 I posted a long list on Feb 3rd 2003 under the thread "music choices for background". Hope this helps. Best wishes Maureen PS Welcome to the Forum Barry B! Hope to see your Black Country sequence at the Nationals love a nagging welshwoman!
  5. Yesterday we held a whole day of digital Audio Visual Sequences. We showed 54 sequences with no problems, projected onto large screen and one was a sequence which had been created on a Macintosh. For those Forum members who entered the IAC Geoffrey Round Digital AV Competition, the results are now up on the web at.......... http://www.maureenalbright.com/treneer/av/...r%20results.htm I will be adding some photographs later. Thanks to those who sent in their work and congratulations to all who took part. Best wishes Maureen
  6. Hi We have been holding non competitve digital AV days since 1999. Members bring along their sequences (and problems ) and we can share our knowledge & work. We also have someone with more expertise to come & give us a talk or lecture. This usually happens in the Autumn. I call it our Digital Audio Visual Event (or DAVE for short). I would love to have a non competitive DAVE with some examples of workfrom all our International friends here. Maybe I could save the sequences onto a CD and forward it to another member in a different country? How about a non competitive WWW DAVE folks? I know it is possible to upload to the Cottage Site (many thanks to all who share their work & utilities with us ) but some of us have such big files and poor connections HAPPY BIRTHDAY to IAN and smi by the way ! Thanks to all you helpful folks. And a huge THANK YOU to Igor! Best wishes Maureen
  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANOT Thank you for all your hard work and I hope you have a wonderful 50th birthday today. When you get to 100 years old, in England the Queen sends you a card, so you are halfway there now - only need to live in England too! Best Wishes Maureen
  8. Wow. It looks spectacular, I wish I'd been there to see it. Thanks for sharing it with us. Terrific pictures BW MAureen
  9. Hi Alan (the Oldie) I'm sure you're really very young at heart! Many thanks for your nice comments about the AV World web site.. Hope you can make it to the Super Southern Digital AV weekend on March 22nd ? I also hope lots of PTE Forum members may be sending in entries to the competition on March 23rd? It is the first International digital AV Comp. We had a great day yesterday here in Wiltshire with Barry Beckham as a speaker. Anyone interested in seeing his web site, this link has superb digital AVs you can download......... http://www.barrybeckham.co.uk/tutorials/tu...udio_visual.htm I have bought his digital AV CD and found it very useful for beginners. Everyone I recommended it to & bought it also found it very good value as it has Photoshop tutorials & some sound advice. He uses & demonstrates PTE. Could I make a suggestion that when the thread changes from it's original title eg here ........."Transition - problem some of the excellent new topic info contained in it is transferred to a new thread ........ eg here we've got some good information on sound programmes following Alan's question.... Thanks to Igor once again for working so hard and so fast to bring out the latest Beta version 4. Best wishes Maureen
  10. Hi If you do a search on a search engine for Royalty free music you will find lots of sites e.g. http://www.royaltyfree.com/ http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/ http://www.royaltyfreemusic.com/ http://www.musicbakery.com/ http://www.freshmusic.com/ http://www.soundrangers.com/ http://www.media-tracks.com/ http://www.music2hues.com/ http://www.sounddogs.com/start.asp http://shockwave-sound.com/ http://www.wickedwavs.com/ http://www.q-music.co.uk/ to name but a few.............................................. Haven't checked these out as we always pay an annual licence fee to both Institute of Amateur Cinematographers IAC http://www.theiac.org.uk and also Mechanical Copyright Protection Society Ltd. MCPS So if I create an AV I fill in a form & let them know the music I've used. I get a letter back giving permision to use it. However we're amateurs and only show our work at festivals or clubs, so we don't make any profit, etc. Hope this helps. Best wishes Maureen
  11. I really appreciate all the hard work that has been done by all who have created utilities for PTE. I am also looking forward to this new utility from Boxig. I hope we are not trying to make it too complicated for him and send my thanks in advance. very Best Wishes Maureen
  12. Hi Geoff R.G. is a bit formal .........! Welcome to the Forum. Look forward to seeing your new AV at Aldbourne in March. Everyone is very helpful and so knowledgeable here. Think the latest wersion of PTE is great. See you at the Super Southern. Best wishes Maureen
  13. Thank You Igor for all your hard work making Pictures to Exe even better than ever. "please notice that it is a first beta yet, and it doesn't contain completed features of v4.00" I can't wait to see all the completed features of v4.00. I am enjoying testing out the new version and especially like the new timeline shadow. Best wishes Maureen
  14. Hi I recently had someone ask me how to make half returns and dissolves in Pictures to Exe and I emailed him the step by step guide below as he is a novice to Photoshop. To create half dissolves using pictures to Exe and Photoshop, you need to create a new image using Photoshop. If your first image was Mickey Mouse and you want to bring in Minnie Mouse in the top right & then take her out - maybe to give the impresssion Mickey was thinking of Minnie at that point..You would need have three images ..... slide 1 one Mickey Mouse, slide2 second Mickey (same images as the above one) with Minnie in position, slide 3 third a copy of the first image of Mickey Mouse (easy to copy an image in Pictures to Exe, or Photoshop etc.) To create the second Mickey & Minnie image........... open the image of Mickey & also a new image of Minnie Make sure both images are flattened before you start Choose the move tool top right in Photoshop ( looks like a Celtic cross for those unfamiliar with Phshp) Place over the picture of Minnie and drag her picture across & over Mickey, then release your mouse button. Minnie's picture should now be appearing as as a new layer over Mickey's. (see the layers palete) You can reposition her in the new image where you would like her to appear using the move tool and also resize to get her into position (i.e. top bar click on edit / transform/ scale then pull in corners) To rub out parts of Minnie's picture you don't want .............. make sure Minnie picture layer is highlighted, click on the white circle in the middle of the grey square at bottom of layers box (this adds a layer mask to Minnie's picture layer i.e. big white square) Then go to the tools down the side and pick the brush tool you must have the black & white colours in the squares, IF you pick black you can rub out with your brush on your layer mask If you change to white as the foreground colour you can paint back in ( and go over any mistakes etc!) Hope this helps anyone unfamiliar with Photoshop and how to create the old fashioned half returns from the diaporama days! Working with layers means you never lose information and can always go back etc. To make an image dissolve and create the wonderful new third image effect, apart from using transitions, you can use this method too using the opacity slider to view your third image effect. I assume everyone is already familiar with how to do that. Apologies to those who already know how to do this - as I had it already typed up yesterday I thought I would post it up for anyone new to this method. Best wishes to you all Maureen (still showing diaporamas regularly!) www.avworld.org
  15. Hi everyone and Welcome Shirley. I find Photoshop an excellent partner for PTE. I recently completed a sequence which required the images to change from a "dark moonless night" to later showing "dawn inching up". As I'm not too good at getting out in the middle of the night to take pictures, I 'converted' pictures of a town in daylight into night shots and used Photoshop's lighting techniques to make the light slowly "inch up" a tree. I need to find out how to upload my sequences onto my own web site or send it up on to another site. At present I think my AVs are too large to e-mail. Hope many PTE users will think about coming along or sending their work to our Digital AV weekend in March. (see www.avworld.org for information about the Super Southern weekend). Even if you don't want to enter the Sunday competition you could send work to be shown & shared on the Saturday Digital AV Event. Best wishes Maureen
  16. Hi Not only will there be the Geoffrey Round digital AV competition but also a whole weekend of DAV on March 22nd & 23rd. So if anyone wants to come & visit there will soon be a list of accommodation up on the web site or e-mail me for more information. Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year and thanks again for such a super program and so much help and information on this Forum. Maureen
  17. Hi Wish List............. Any news of a version of PTE for Mac users? I have some PTE sequences which I'd love to save to CD and post to a friend using a Mac. What is the best way that I can do this so they can view my sequences please? Many thanks for all the birthday messages and animated greetings yesterday! Maureen
