  1. I am using Roxio version 6 and I am getting excellent svcd's with this program Roxio. However I go to save the work and it is saved to my documents in a Roxio folder titled "PM Studio" Later I go back to bring up any saved work. The presentations .avi are daved in a folder called "pm studio" I double click or open and I get a message ALWAYS saying " the video clip "D:\p2e presentation \Mexico City2_vid 161 .avi in the project cannot be located and will not be part of the loaded project so, I click "ok" it does start loading anway and then I get ALWAYS the prompt that "this program has performed an illegal operation and so on and so on........... I click ok and that is that. That is why I have been saying with Roxio I can only do just one presentation per "cd" I cannot save the avi through p2e program after I do all that I have to do to make the video avi? Harry
  2. Sorry about that last reply to Ken. Harry is using Roxio 6 can now seem to do but one presentation at a time so how do you add presentations. Harry
  3. Ken, I was wondering. You are using Roxoo and so am I. I can only figure out how to do only one presentation at a time and I would like to add more like you. When I use pte to do the usual stuff makeing the avi etc you are not supposed to click finish until you are finished. But when you are finished how does one save that avi presentation to use it again and my most important question is how do you make additional presenations on dvd or rather making a svcd. I am using Roxio 6
  4. Thanks Ken and I stand or rather I SIT corrected. Harry
  5. Thanks AL for the information. Sometimes it gets confusing as to where to post for me anyway. But I will read and get this down. i did do a good svcd but my dvd player will only go as far as a vcd so I will go look at it at another place. Harry
  6. Well sorry! It wont happen again. I guess I will just work this out myself. Harry
  7. Don't know for sure but perhaps some directions were just left out. Perhaps they just didn't need any explanation. But here goes: 1. Is it neccessary to preview? Is this just a step like 1,2 3? 2. Are you supposed to or have to put the length of the presentation in seconds? 3. It seems that creating a Custom AVI is a separate entity from all the rest. What is this? 4. When you go to save at what time do you do this? I usually save with Roxio but when i go back to view my avi I can never do it. It would seem to be better to save and go back and not have to recreate all over agin. I must not get this right. Now I have seen and read Igor's directions but some stuff just was not mentioned, I think. I can now do svcd with Roxio 6 a gift from my brother for Christmas and it works fine even though it should be for a PIII etc it works fine with my PII. I can create a svcd or vcd with Roxio and it looks very good on TV.
  8. Hmmnn well a slight correction: I now have enough ram but my PII is 367mhz and min is 200mhz for processing audio but video needs PIII at 500mhz or faster for video authoring. Do you think I should just forget Roxio 6. I thinnk so!! I think I should be just happy with increased speed of ram and just do the VCD. Harry
  9. Ken, thanks for the reply, I can't do DVD because I need a DVD burner and for now that is not in my budget. However, with the new betas etc. I am putting my pte presentations on VCD and that is fine for now. I just today put additional RAM on the computer from 96 to 192. So, now I can go from 98 to 98se and now add Roxio creator 6 Harry
  10. Bart, apparently your site that you recommended, I finally found the windows Player 7 and it led me to the correct application and I downloaded it and it worked just fine. Thank you so much for your help. My pictures to exe convertions to video .avi are looking better with the beta 5. However all I can do is make vcd's. Harry
  11. Bart very interesting compliation of information that you shared with me. I could not find anything that really said Windows Media Player 7 audio/video codecs . I did find one for win Med 9 and it said it was for also Player 7 so I downloaded that one but realized that I had already did this a day ago with no luck. I am wondering if my driver for this player is deleted? I had to shut the computer down more times then I wanted to by just pushing the power button because I had no choice. I could have lost a file or two. Called Gateway they had me insert the System Restoration CD and this did not work. I even just uninstalled and reinstalled WMP but no good. Now, how do I check to see if I have a driver for WMP. I do play from WMP my video .avi presentations and any music I have on my HD. But only music CD's seem to be the only media not working. Bart, aside from all this you and your loved ones have a Merry Christmas and a prosperious New Year. Harry
  12. When I create a video avi my windows media player works but not when I just play a music cd. A message came up and said that the program would have to switch from digital to analog. It also said I http://www.fourcc.org/index.phpwould need video/audio codecs. I guess I lost them by turning off the computer a few times to many and I might add out of necessity. I was told to go to a sight to find the codecs which is very complex for me so I thought someone could go to the sight and help out. http://www.fourcc.org/index.php
  13. I agree, I will have to just stay with just Data CD's and VCD's of which I can do. Don't know about SVCD's though. I had tripple by pass surgery and I am getting a rather small VA Disability and it is just enough to pay bills etc. Not complaining though, I am ALIVE!! Harry
  14. I may be in trouble with Ulead. I may have to one day just get another computer as my aging computer will not fit the needs of Ulead: I have with my computer: Win 98 367 megahertz Intel Celeron PII 96 MB ram 20.o1 GB hd I need a PIII, more meghertz, more ram and need at least 98se I have to software for 98se and have plans of getting more Ram. Is there anyone out there getting by with a PII Harry
  15. Will Ulead enable me to made SVCD'S? Does it have the MPeg2 codec encoder that I need? Or is Igor working on this to have this implemented in his own software? Harry
  16. I have discovered that using Premier 5.1 will enable me to extract the audio only and it does a fine job Harry
  17. Eric, I made a vcd yhe other day using nero 5 Express. My pictures were ok and my fades were fizzley as it faded but it was a good effect. Perhaps if i had Nero 6 it would have been better. When I wont to put on several presentations I do it at night and just go to bed and when I get up in the morning I take a look. Harry
  18. Ok, breas, I downloaded the program Virtual Dub and now I have to figure out how to use it. Also, a friend said I could also use "Premiere" one of the programs that I use to edit my capture from video to make the avi. so I can look at that also. I keep you informed. Harry
  19. ok, will look into virtual dub. And thinks alot.
  20. I've tried audacity one time thus far and at first could not find the file and then I went to all files and found it. It copied the file in mp3 and I wondered about that. This would have been great in mp3 format as it would be condensed compared to a wave file. when I played it back it was just noise and static. I might email their web site and enquire about this. Harry
  21. Thanks Mike I already have Audacity but never really thought about that program. I will look it over in the a.m. Harry
  22. Let me explain. I know that we all are very busy with what Igor is working on but I have a project that I need some advice. I am about to end the semister at our Bible School and I want to make availabe all the lectures in audio format from the video .avi format. Today I used Roxio "Field Stream" and I did get only the audio but it seems you HAVE to use this program only to play it back. I want a program, would like it freeware, that I can do this and that the students could play the audio cd in the car or in the home in a cd player and the computer (all three) So, does anyone know of such a FREEWARE program that I can do this? Harry
  23. Well, if I would have known it was going to work I would have filled the CD up with P2E presentations of VCD's It was just OK actually for my 19" TV! When I made the picture a smidge darker to bring out the color it looked decent. Now, SVCD I can't do because I need the Mpeg2 codec plug in but not wanting to purchase now. Going to use my money to increase my RAM So I was using: Gateway PII 96 RAM Intel MMX 386 hertz (whatever) But I always wanted to do P2E into VCD and keep the fades etc. Xat will do fades in VCD but you have to made all the pictures small and when the program enlarges it to fit the screen it can get sort of grotesk. Harry
  24. Using: Windows 98 96 MB ram I have made many VCD's using Xatco so I know that this old computer can do at least that. I follow the notes Igor made and I can preview just fine and it looks good and I understand that the fades are not the best until I make the VCD. However when I burn the vcd the music plays fine but the pictures start and end real fast. One pictures after another real fast. I have in my computer upgrade to add a 64 and 128 MB to give me 192 total MB. Also, one time I brought a completed edited avi file from work and burned a vcd and the sound track was off. Any thoughts on this. I am excited about all this so I needed some input. Harry
  25. http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools.htm I don't know if this is of any value but I came across this looking for free mpeg2 codec plugin but no luck yet. Harry
