  1. I have a new slideshow. I am going to leave it posted for just a few days.

My wife and I just got to pick up our new son. (April 6th)

We are in the process of adopting. But, it will be a few more months

before it will be final. He was four months old when we picked him up.

I took a lot of pictures the first few weeks. I made this show to send

to our family. But thought I would post it here too.

It is nothing fancy just a lot of pictures.

The day we went to pick him up It was not a rainy day. But the first thing

We seen was a Rainbow. I just had to stop and take a picture of it.

    Someone was telling us congratulations.

I have found I don’t have as much time to keep up with the forum.

But it is well worth it.

  2. when you say the slideshow "won't work"

    are you getting an error?

does the slideshow start to run?

what message are you getting when you try to run the slideshow.

In older versions. If you used an MP3 music and the computer

you were trying to watch the slideshow on did not have an MP3 player.

the slideshow would not run. It would just hang on the first slide.

  3. Len,

    I agree with you.

I would love to have the option to pick my secondary Monitor for viewing a slideshow.

there are times this would be very handy.

As for your program, I think that the program one becomes use to using will always be first choice..

Myself I have PhotoSop CS. But I still use a free program XNVIEW for many things. I am just use

to the way the programs works. I know Photoshop will do More. But I already know how to use Xnview

    so I use it.

I booked marked the program you told about and sometime I will look at it.

It is always nice when other tell about the programs they are using. A first hand

    review.

  4. A free program called Audacity you can add silence to your sound file. This would be your best option.

Or you could make a silence file for the number of sec you want. This will work but sometimes causes

trouble with transitions from one slide to the next if it is switching sound files while it is fading pictures.

    on your second question.

You can type in the comment on one slide. Then Ctrl-M will copy that comment to all slides.

This is the same option as

    Slide (at the top)

    - Set commets on all slides = current one.

Not sure if this is what you are wanting.

  5. You need to make all the changes you like.

and then create a Template of that file.

then you can go into Manage Templates.

Then at the bottem you can Pick the template you made and make that your Default Template.

If you have any Pictures or Sound files these will also be included in your Default settings.

    Hope this helps.

  6. Al,

I too would like to tell you how great of a tool the PTE 101 is.

I know the number of Downloads from Cottage speaks for it's self. But, I am sure that is just a small

number of the people that have watched and learned form your work. I know myself, I have given the

show to many people to watch. So I am sure you could take the number of downloads and multiply it

    by many views.

I know that the pay you got for making the show was not much. But if the words:

    Wow,

    Cool, and

    I did not know that.

were worth anything, you would be rich.

    Thanks for teaching

    and

    Thanks for the uncoming update.

  7. I seem to recall seeing somewhere in this forum a method of saving a permanent copy of the avi file.

I think I used to be able to click on the video and choose

    Create Custom AVI Video file

Then in the Video Codec Pick:

    - Full Frame (UnCompressed)

This would create an AVI file that was not a Temp file.

But it has been a while

I thought I made them in the past with the beta versions.

  8. The simple answer to this is for the slide numbering to be  a separate text field.

I still thank the push button would be the best answer.

when you click on it, it numbers your slides once and it is done.

When I noticed the problem. I was working on a slideshow for viewing.

I wanted the picture name on the slides so viewers could write down

the pictures they wanted to order.

I was making a menu to explain some things to the viewers. So I took the

name of the picture out of the comments on a few slides. As I worked on the

project I would go into the project options. And when I would return to the

slide I would notice my picture names were showing up again.

So for me, I think the push button would work best like the button for "Clear all comments"

  9. Pete,

I think you are right with it being the Numbering.

Once you check the box to number your sides.

You need to go back in the project option and uncheck it.

If you don't everytime you go into your project options

PTE will renumber all your slides and you lose everything

you had typed in the comments.

I have brought this up in the past but it has not been fixed yet.

My self I think it should be a push button and not a check box.

This would not cause it to renumber everytime you go into the

    project obtion menu.

  10. On the placement of Objects. I think it would be nice to have an X Y at the top of the editor.

where we could enter our own x and y number and know the location it is going to be.

I also think opening a spreadsheet like information of the slides that we could edit

would also be nice. Like (Al's ajuster)

And I would like to be able to pick the location of my Templet folder. This way when I upgrade.

I could just point to my Default location that already has all my templets in it.

  11. the small pictures on top of the back ground picture is actually one jpeg... and then when the next one appears the whole thing with an extra picture (although I realize you created it backwards, right?) is another jpeg?

    Yes, you are right Atomiton

After creating the page (example Page 10) I saved the page as

    Page10-10

then I would delete one layer and saved as

    Page10-09

    Page10-08

This way when I opened PTE they would be listed in reverse order.

the way I wanted them in my slideshow.

The Jeg that had all the pictures on it I would leave up just

    a little longer.

Myself, I think the fades were to quick. But I did not want to add a 2nd song

They were happy with the show.

  12. I think a good song is "I will be here" by Steven Curtis Chapman

I had a nephew who's Fiancé was getting called over Seas. So they Changed their wedding plans

and had a wedding before she left.

We made this slideshow in a graphics program with layers. We had the page all laid out.

And then saved the Jpeg and removed a layer. Then saved it again. We did this until the layers were all

gone. I recorded the audio at the wedding and added it to the slide show too.

  13. Harry,

I agree with you on the menu and the VCD.

But if you put your sideshow in the place for the Movie.

You will get a menu. But when I have just one thing on the menu

to select from, It has seemed worked for me so far.

If your player will play a cd/rw maybe you could do some

    testing with a ReWritable disc.

If you are still having trouble.

post again. I will try to help if I can.

    cc

  14. Harry,

You can edit with EZ Creator 6

And you can add different effects from one clip to the next.

You can have a Start Menu with a buttons to select

a Slideshows to watch. But the Start Menu does not work well

on all player when you create it as a VCD or SVCD.

Keep us updated on how your trials are going.

  15. I enjoyed the music too.

I just wanted to add that you do not have

    the mouse wheel disabled.

I just happend to notice it and thought.

the show would have been better if.

I was not able to scroll through the slides.

    Thanks for the entertainment!

  16. If you are going to convert all the Pictures.

and you are going to move them to another DIR

you can do this with a Batch process.

If you are using PhotoShop Elements 2.0

under File you have Batch processing........

This will convert everything in the DIR for you

in very little time. Or if you Don't have Photoshop

the program you are using may have batch processing.

Here are two Free programs that will do this too.

    Xnview

    or

    Irfanview

This will save you a lot of time if you are

    converting them all manually.

  17. Hello,

Well you can add 32,000 Pictures and the file can be 2100 MB.

These are the answers in the FAQ anyway. I have not made a show that big yet. :D

    To answer your other questions.

The Image Flickering might be your image size. Your images do not need to be the quality you use for

printing. I make a second copy of my pictures in a different DIR just for my slideshow.

As for what size that will add depends on your computer settings you will be viewing it on. If the screen

size is 1024x768. This would be the size I would make your pictures. Any larger and then the program

has to resize it to show it on the screen anyway.

If you are cropping your pictures 8x10 at 300 DPI your pictures are 2400x3000. And if you are saving

them at the Best quality in Photoshop you are looking at 3.5 MB file. If you resize your image to your

screen size and save the picture at a lower quality for your slideshow. I am sure you will be able to lower

the file size. and make it easier for PTE to open the picture.

Another thing that will cause the Flickering....

Is not leaving enough time between your images for your Effects to happen. (Fade)

This will happen if you are trying to sync your pictures to the song.

I am sure you will get some better answer too. But this is somewhere to start.

  18. Mike,

Thanks for posting a Success story.

Most people are only posting when they have trouble. It is good to hear

    when we have success too.

Myself I have used both Pinnacle Studio 8 and Easy CD Creator 6 and both

seem to work very well. I prefer Studio 8 because it seems I have more control

over the Final DVD. Maybe I have just used it more?

With it taking a fare amount of time to create a DVD sometimes our trials are days

in the making. So we forget to come back to the forum and post our Success Stories.
