  1. Hi Lin

There must be a couple of misunderstandings !

    Behaviour of yours slideshows

    - There is no problem watching your animations. They proceed evenly and without any stops

    - The problem concerns the time beetween 2 slides (transition time): jerky and one time, snow goes a very short time upwards (the transition before the one showing a red house/hangar).

I suppose that this is due to my hardware but as for my recent slideshow where 2 spectators mentionned pixelated skies (they have screen resolution over my slide resolution), you must accept that not everybody is up to date with their PC or video card. In any case powerless PC's or video cards are common here (private or professionnal environnement).

You are up to date ... this doesn't mean everybody is.

    Comments about your 2 slideshows

    - If your demand of comments concerns only lightings effects.

The difference between both presentations is so thin (1 slide with an illuminated roof and the last slide ... or I missed something) that I don't understand why you posted a new thread !!!

    - If it concerns the whole concept, my response is that the animation effect (snow effect) is of very poor interest : falling snow with blue and cloudless skies and bright sun, and so on .... there must be a minimum of realism. The effect brings no particular value to the photos. On the contrary, they depreciate the photos quality.

You are joking about my reference about Java scripts, but what about your blindness concerning the lack of PTE V5 user friendlyness ? The numerous questions arising on forums and even a french photo magazine speaking about PTE, pinpoints without any doubt this problem.

May I just make your point about a very simple question (concerns screen options) for which you and others are unable to reply clearly until now. Not a major problem but if you are not able to reply, what about a newbie lost with options with nebulous finality?

I will not continue this discussion as it is very time consuming for me (translation) all the more that I am sure that your preconception about me will not change. You transpose your proper environnement and the one of the few members who express their opinion here to the whole population and think it is the common rule.

  2. The only transitions are fades so if there is "stuttering" it is probably the lack of hardware rendering capability. If you mean the snow fall animation is stuttering, it's also your video card which is not up to the task of properly rendering the PNG animations.

Apart the slideshows made with the very first PTE V5 betas, I can "read", without any problem, the vast majority of the new shows... not yours ! ... find the problem ?

As for the aesthetics, that's a subjective evaluation which "may" be colored by your hardware limitations, or not. If snow falls "upwards," it's indeed your hardware - LOL. I think over the last couple years we have been down this path with your system hardware limitations many times. It's unfortunate that you don't have a modern graphics environment because you do not see what others see.

Sorry Lin but I probably behave as the majority of informatic users: I change components or full PC only if there is a need to (hardware crash for example).

Buying a new system or hardware (even if it is under 100 euros) just to read PTE slideshows is not in my intentions.

I take my photos with a more than 2 years old Sony Alpha 100 (with a basic Sigma tele zoom) and also with a 5 years old Canon DSC-P93, 5 megapixel camera.... do I have to change them urgently just because Sony, Canon, Nikon advertise all day long their new cameras, much powerful and at a very good price ?

Concerning what I see, as said before, I have absolutely no problem despite aenemic hardware apart from time to time, and your slideshow is this exception.

Concerning asesthetics, as you know, PTE V5 is not user friendly and when one make this remark and say there are other softwares, the response is ... PTE is the best software in rendering excellent photo quality.

OK then... but why then obsessionaly lower the quality with fancy animations ????

With PTE you have the "choice" of allowing retrieval of images with a decompiler,

    Which one ?

or not. By default encryption is on, and I didn't change the default so you are correct that a screen copy will not separate the PNG animations from the images, but that's not the purpose of my presentation or question which is whether the Christmas lights are preferred or not by the majority.

I'm not certain what you mean by "falling snow... a great step backward...." It's only one of many possible animations which can be very realistic providing your graphics environment is up to the task of properly rendering the motion.

Same response as above considering photo quality versus fancy usage of PTE.

Perhaps in the future when you replace your present system you will be able to at least see what is intended rather than what I'm certain is a real "mess" on your screen. Unfortunately, everyone does not sequence to the least common denominator so perhaps a "caveat" should be issued to not waste the time of those with older systems. I will do this in the future for you.

Not a mess, just stuttering transitions and, once more Lin... just a problem with this particular slideshow, others run fluently.

    Patrick

  3. A few days ago I posted a link to a slideshow demonstrating various snow techniques and have now made some additions in terms of Christmas lighting. Just wondering which way most would prefer the show. Links below to each (about 12 meg).

    1. Without Christmas lights

    2. With additional "gingerbread"

    Would appreciate suggestions, preferences, etc...

Sorry Lin, but I find both slideshows of very poor interest.

Falling snow... a great step backwards reminding me the "prehistoric" Java scripts

Concerning your presentations, both have very laborious and stutering transitions and sometimes, snow begins to "fall" upwards !!!

I defintely prefer the original Powerpoint presentation passing around on the web... With the PPS I can, at least, easily retrieve some of the interesting photos without the snow trick !

    No hard feelings !

  4. Before the end of the year 2008 and celebrate the arrival of 2009, a small slideshow of season

Jura is a mountain between France and Switzerland.with anaglyphs glasses red/cyanBernard

    Hi Bernard

From my point of view, the most convincing slideshow of your 3D production !

I am staggered by somes photos which are truly amazing

    Thanks for sharing

    Patrick

  5. the size of your photos should help you switch to fullscreen without damaging your photos.

Without knowing exactly what is done , I suppose that these settings have some importance when the size of the photos is much more smaller than the screen on wich they will be watched.

In the case of photos of great size, these settings are of poor importance and fullscreen is then the best choice.

    Patrick

  6. After a short period of investigation I have produced four simple project files to illustrate the effect of different Aspect Ratio settings.

I have been unable to make any sense of just what "Fixed size..." is doing. Intuitively, because my monitor size is 1280x1024 and because my actual image files are 1024x768, I was expecting that ticking "Fixed size..." would show me the image file at its true size of 1024x768 in the middle of my 1280x1024 monitor. But this doesn't seem to be what it does. PTE isn't "intuitive" on this matter as far as I can see.

    AspectRatio.zip

    regards,

    Peter

I don't understand the finality of the options "fixed size", "format" and "size of slide"

In your example, ticking "Fixed size" and then setting slide size to 1024/768 (the real size) give the same result as slide size setted at 1280/720 on my screen (1440/900)

  7. Thank you Peter for your explanations, clear as crystal!

I deduce that in the case of my presentation, "Hardware acceleration" was not absolutely required and that all other options where OK as previously said by JPD and Lin (this time I know why).

I take advantage of this reply to thank again all those of you, which kindly gave an opinion.

Photos are OK but we are not plenty to appreciate this particular music extract or this particular association (landscape/music)

    Patrick

  8. Oui, c'est bon, ainsi tu es comme dans la V4, taille fixe en pixels si écran>size of slide, sinon ajustement à l'écran.

Thank you Lin for your comment and reply.

Thank you JPD but for best comprehension of most of the members of this forum I will continue in english.

OK then. Settings are as for V4 but something stays unclear for me :

    - what for "fixed size of slide" while just above we can choose "Fullscreen" or "Windowed mode"?

    - "Hardware acceleration"... what for this setting and what is the best choice so that the slideshow can be run on most of the PC's?

    - is there an interest of both settings "aspect ratio of slide" and "Size of slide"? ... I don't understand what can be the interest to give figurs which are not those of the slides really used in the presentation! I also don't clearly understand why these 2 figurs are not interdependent (why have to give the size of slide and then have to give the aspect ratio ?)

  9. .....

    P.S.

I am a truly newbie with V5. I made my slideshow in PTE V4.49 and then imported it in the present V5 beta

Are the options I choosed right or is somethng not good ?

I just wanted to know if theses settings are logical or if something has to be changed but, apparently, only newbies (as I am) with PTE V5 have read this message... too bad!

  10. Hi everybody

Many thanks to all of you who tooked time to write a comment.

I will try to give a few explanations to some of the points you pinpointed.

    Pixellisation of some skies

Firstly, I created a slideshow with 2 times the amount of photos of the present one.

With a resolution of 1600/1000, I compressed a little bit more than usually my photos so that the slideshow keeped a reasonable size.

I didn't change compression (I forgot it) when I opted for this shorter presentation.

    Over-processed photos

For most photos I increased the color saturation, the sharpening and contrast a little bit (2 to 5%) to compensate the tendancy of image softening of my camera (Sony Alpha 100).

The second point is due to the low position of the sun : photos may then seem "over contrasted".

I also used in some cases a polarising filter to enhance the bright colors and eliminate some parasite sun glitches.

    Music...

My first choice a month ago was "For the Love of a Princess" / Braveheart... a very classical choice for such photos but the mix ringed wrong to me and I abandonned the slideshow till I heard the present music (Album-L'union sacrée, Author-Jean-Jacques Goldman, Titel-Brother, Interpreter-Carole Fredericks).

It truly imposed on me as it fitted very close to what I felt during my photo sessions.

The whole music duration is 7'46 and I love everything : the rythm, the deep voice of Carole Fredericks, the instruments...

For my slideshow I extracted the very last 2'18

Without this music, clearly no slideshow (or, perhaps in half a year !) about my autumn photos.

Anyway, I understand very easily that this is a, from far not shared, personnal taste ... my wife said that I had a very very bad music choice ... all the more she had to suffer many times this music in loop for a few days before I ended my presentation !

Anyhow, most important is that the photos apealed to you... and that is the goal of that slideshow

    Patrick

  11. Jaune d'automne / Yellow (Autumn's yellow) on Bill's Cottage site

Here a very short slideshow (2'18) just to show a few photos taken mid october when autumn's colors where bright and bursting ... as my musical extract choice (which for sure will find many adverse opinions as most of time, for such a subject, very "pacific" musics are choosen).

Slideshow fully controlable (Mouse clicks or keyboard)

    Photos size 1600/1000

Alsace region (4 different spots) / France

    Period of 2 weeks

Musical extract : Brother (Author JJ Goldmann)

These notes are also accessible with the F1 key during slideshow

    PTE V5.6 beta 13

    Comments welcome

  12. Also, yes the slide you question is purposely distorted to exaggerate the player stretching to reach the ball. Just as a novelty/gimmick I used PTE O&A to disproportionately zoom the vertical axis.

    Ah Ok

I understand now but as you see, your effect was not self explanatory for me ... but perhaps for others it was.

  13. Sag' mir, was soll das bedeuten!

  14. Peter,

Your post is an excellent example  It is written in a clear and cultivated language. It isn’t too short, and isn’t too long (long messages sometimes are tedious); it is just as a typical message should look like.

    Best regards,

    Xaver

    Lèche-bottes <_<

    Clear, short and cultivated !

  15. Lieber Ken,

  16. Superb photos, warm colors: a quiet and very pleasant stroll through our past.

This visit is sustained by peaceful and sober transitions effects.

Your "Romanesque stroll" is also a romantic one!

    And ...

Do you think a tourist seeing this slideshow on Beechbrook Cottage, would stop to admire these first footsteps of our civilization?

... for sure he will

    Thank you for sharing

    Patrick

  17. ... when the leaves change colour it does transfom the foliage at the edge of the lake. I have introduced a little animation near the end of falling leaves. Maybe it's a bit corny, but see what you think.

    Hi Paul

Your photos and the accompanying music are very peaceful and the photos taken against the sun are pleasant.

I am a bit surprised that you left your first photo as is and did not show the real one.

Concerning the falling leave effect .... why not, but then why not end your show at the end of this effect ?

    Patrick

  18. For people who do not use orinal mode and size/resize positiooning, they could use Microsoft Powerpoint...and won't see any diffrenece with what they are presently getting out with PTE.

    Hi Henri

Why so disdainful for Powerpoint users ?

While this vast community creates slideshows without any ulterior motive and apprehension to show their images, a microscopic group spends his time to unravel a sofware that has become, due to mercantile reasons, incomprehensible for the ordinary mortals!:blink:

Without any restrictions, I find that both types of users are equally worthy of interest

    Patrick

  19. I do not feel myself in the position to answer in general the question if PTE is an intuitive product. For me, it is!

..... You're then a poor lonesome cowboy

PTE V5 intuitive ! ... the best joke of the year !

    I have to suppose that

    - the numerous demands of a good help manual

    - the thread "How to make PicturesToExe more simple and intuitive?" initiated by Igor himself

    - the numerous rantings (outburts) about the softwares's opacity here and there in the PTE dedicated forums (english or french)

are there to attest it is an intuitive software :lol::lol:

.... really, PTE V5 intuitive, the best joke of the year !

    Patrick

  20. Dear colleagues from France,

we all know that a particular French group of PTE users would like it, if WnSoft would maintain the Original Mode. I think that there is no further need to organize still more forum members in order to repeat this particular request again and again.

    Best regards, Xaver Munich

    Auf befehl mein Herr !!!!!

You have not the authority to give such nutty commands !

How much PTE user per nation can give an opinion about a problem ? ... Do we have to give figurs per quota ? per inhabitant ? per licence pro nation ?

If the repetition of identical comments worries you, just go your way and relax... You are not obliged to read each of them !

There is a problem with the lack of original mode, does it desagree to you or not :P

  21. Hello Igor

How to make PicturesToExe more simple and intuitive?

    ... My suggestion : Copy PTE V4!

I have no decided opinion how to make PTE V5 more user-friendly as I use PTE V5 seldomly (reinstall and retry of V5 approximatively every 3 months or so).

As I loose everytime hours finding out very basic actions or commands because of there lack of evidence, I give up a few days later and return to PTE V4 without any regrets... Not to mention the boring patience and many trials mandatory to use the "new" features (pan, zoom, rotate, ...)!

Considering my personal needs (just show, in a pleasant way, my photos and not demonstrating others that I am a genius in mastering PTE or informatics), PTE V4 is perfectly adapted.

What are the needs considering the creation of a slideshow for the vast majority of amateur photographers?

    - time needed to create a slideshow not exceeding 30 minutes

    - rich choice of transitions types and easy to cope with

    - easy to use and intuitive software with no need to reed a help file but comprising an exhaustive embedded help, just in case

    - accurate menu and button translation in major languages appreciated

    - of course, no need to enhance or change hardware!

    - automatic resizing of photos with suggested fixed width (640, 800, ...)

    - very high photo restitution not mandatory

    - a few photo improvment possibilities (saturation, sharpen, contrast...) for punctual changes appreciated

    - addition of music interesting but not an important issue

    - responding help by e-mail very much appreciated

    - freeware or cheap (not more than 30-35 euros)

PTE V4 was a real jewel at it's release as most of theses points were achieved. A very responding forum was also a plus, but absolutely not of big importance for the common user.

PTE V5 don't achieve most of these goals and is, in fact, dedicated to very particular users and no more for "the man in the street".

  22. When we read the forum, we have the opinions of some users and professionnal users also, but it not all. Many peoele don't write anywhere, but write by email or discuss. I have some friends in walk, by example, who bought PTE, speaking with me: all says now that PTE become "hard" in functions. This opinion is also important for Wnsoft. Warning.

Common sense seems coming back !

I am very pleased to read that I probably don't come from an exotic planet and that others are also bothered with the evolution of that software which is now to the antipodes of PTE V4's end version philosophy, due partly probably to the inflation of never ending new features .... all of absolute urgent need and vital necessity !
