  1. You do not create a transparency mask. The transparent background will be generated in real-time. Insert the video, highlight it in the O&A window, tick Chroma Key, click Customize, use the pipette tool on the video background in order to define the background color, use the slider for fine tuning.

  2. Beta 6: I have a project with two audio clips, each one having 3 audio keypoints (see first image). Then I delete all keypoints, first the right one, then the left one, then the one in the middle. The audio curve remains at the position of the keypoint that has been removed last (see second image). It does not go back to 100%/0dB; it does so if I clear the "non-existing" keypoints. Is this a bug or is it a feature?

  3. As far as I am informed, the "old" styles of user thedom were not styles in the sense of Version 8, they were templates. A templates is a kind of PTE-project. You can open it in v8, select all or perhaps only part of the slides. Then you may use the function "Create Style" in an appropriate way (Play with the parameters and see what happens).

  4. In v8 there will be the option to let PTE mix and render the soundtrack, convert it to MP3, and to insert this audio file into an executable for the PC. In my opinion it would be fine to have the feature of exporting the overall soundtrack to WAV and/or MP3, as well. Why is this feature useful? Here is an example: If you create a soundtrack with music, additional sounds, and voice-over, you always have to be aware of clipping. Having an exported version of my almost final soundtrack I could have a look at it in my audio editor for critical situations, which would allow me to make some fine tuning.

Of course there is an easy workaround for exporting the soundtrack: Publish the show as an AVI video with low frame rate at a resolution of 16x8. This "video" will be created within a very short time, an it can be imported into Audacity. It is a solution, but not an esthetic one sad.gif

  5. ...

And I overlooked 'Saved and use by default" at the bottom under Properties ...

Nevertheless, you should not use 0 as your default. I must admit, the situation looks a bit confusing, and (following common sense) 0 would to be regarded as the standard value. But this is not the case. On the other hand, isn't -100 a fine number anyway :)

  6. You should (in most cases) work with the default value of -100. I just compared the full screen view of a static image that I presented in PTE at values 0 and -100, and compared the results with IrfanView. At a value of 0 the image is slightly more soft. The slider sharper/smoother is to be used to control the process of mipmapping (anti-shimmering) in case of animations rather than to sharpen/blur static images. See here.

  7. When you apply a style which requires two images to (say) 12 images the slide styles interface tells you that you are applying a 2 image style to 12 images and that the end result will be 6 slides ...

Sorry, this is not quite true. You can easily create a style with slide count 4 that uses 2 main images. If you apply it to 12 slides (each one containing one main image) the result will show 24 slides.
