  1. Has anyone ever create a DVD that has multiple shows? When the avi file is generated, it's deleted immediately after hitting finish. How can you create more than one show? Has anyone asked WnSoft for an option that saves the file? Thanks.
  2. All goes fairly well with making a dvd. The only issue is the clarity of the photos on the dvd. The clarity on a cd-rom slide show is beautiful. Why is it not as clear on the dvd slide show? I am using Ulead dvd movie factory. I have also used Canopus pro coder to encode as well prior to inserting the project into Ulead, as I do with other avi files from mini-dv tapes. Could someone suggest a reply with customized settings in regards to video codecs? Thanks
  3. This problem is driving me crazy. I burn the P2E show on DVD using ulead. It looks good on my TV but when I insert the DVD in a computer, the image is blurry. It sort of looks like a very low quality jpeg. Someone suggested that the software is compressing the image for TV resolution. It it possible to burn a DVD that looks good on the computer and the TV????? I need help....fast. Thanks, Greg
  4. Soryy if this question is very basic. If I create a video file from PTE using the "Video" button, the file type I get if I choose the AVI out put type is of course a *.avi file. IF I choose the DVD video disc output option, I get a *.ptev file. Both these files load into Ulead Movie factory and can be burnt to a DVD disk. What is the difference between the file types and is it important to choose one or the other? A supplementary question. I use Adobe Audition 1.5 for sound editing. Audition will import the *.avi file produced by PTE and thus additional sound editing can be done e.g. to lower the music level if a slide has an attached speech file. However Audition will not import a *.ptev file. So there must be some difference between the file types. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
  5. I have used Tmpgenc to encode a P2E .avi (very smooth and speedy) and have ended up with two files - an .m2v and a .wav file. OK - now can anyone talk me through the process to burn a DVD from these files using Nero VE? I don't forsee or have a problem - I just would like to be sure before carrying it out. DEN (NE UK)
  6. When Igor first made DVD option, users of Ulead DCD Movie Factory 2, soon knew all too well this message: Failed to convert video file. Error: 80041c21 It was soon learned that the message is very generic and covers a large range of causes. Igor, dedicated as he is, exchanged multiple test versions of the program and test sequences with me. We never did really pin down the cause in some of my attempted PTE to DVD shows. We spent hours over weeks trying to isolate factors that might be the cause. I don't use DVD feature all the time, so have not fussed about the on-some-shows-only problem. Now, with 4.40 Beta 5, I ran into the problem. Back and forth between other versions, it seems to occur equally. I can not systematically go through the extensive trials I made before. I have tried a few simple changes such as one mp3 vs another. Short music vs. long, sync vs non sync. Large number of slides vs. small number, etc. So far the only "common ground" I may have found is the size the .jpg files may be a factor. If I make a show of only 12 or so slides that are 2000 -3000 kb, the above error is produced. This does not seem logical that this should be a problem when converting for DVD. Has anyone possibly observed similar? (In case it matters, I have saved some "trial" time by using Ulead to convert to an .iso image (learned from Igor) instead of trying to actually burn the DVD.) I also have tried Roxio (6?) DVD builder on the same PTE problem show. DVD builder will also fail on the same PTE show.
  7. I resize my pictures to 1024 x768 as recommended when creating a slideshow. But when the resulting DVD or SVCD is played on my domestic TV , which is a normal 4x3 aspect, I lose part of my picture, - any suggestions
  8. For some time now, we have produced slideshows for proofs and use an ATI Radeon, 7500 video board in our computer, which puts out an SVHS signal to a monitor so we can see how our TV output looks. Today, I moved the computer system to another room, hooked everything up exactly the same and booted up. the TV output worked but with one exception... The desktop was showing but without the icons! Opening P2EXE (or any other program, for that matter) there was no change, just the desktop minus the icons. I reloaded the ATI Radeon drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled... same thing. I would have thought it totally impossible for the desktop to be displayed and have the icons missing. Seems like output is output. Can anyone shed any light on this? This computer was doing just fine minutes before the dismount and relocating it. I've scoured various forums and newsgroups and ATI's support is totally worthless for help. Larry T
  9. Several months ago I used ULEAD DVD MovieFactory Disc Creator 3 trial to make a DVD from a PTE presentation. Worked great. Well, the trial period expired in January, and I now need to create some more DVDs from my PTE shows. So I went to Best buy and got the Disc Creator 3 full version. The DVDs will play back on the PC I created them on and on a cheapo $35 DVD player from Sears, but will not play back on my other PC's DVD drive or on my Sansui DVD/VCR combo. The Sansui tries to start but then comes up with a "Check disc" message. I have tried both having the ULEAD output option checked and unchecked, and even changed the PTE project from full screen to a fixed window (thinking maybe it was outputting an AVI at full screen resolution, which is much larger than regular digital video dimensions). I tried installing ULEAD on the second PC that has a DVD burner (where we successfully burn DVD videos from Pinacle Studio 9 for video coverage we sometimes do), then copying the AVI file to the other PC after it is created, but when I try to add it to the ULEAD project on the other computer, it says it can't be accessed. I may be forced to recreate the slideshow using ULEAD's slide show option, though I really don't want to go through that much work. But clients have earned these preview DVDs my reaching a bonus level, so I have to produce them somehow.
  10. HI. I was wondering if the option of expiration date stay in effect when you make it into a dvd? thanks. Linda
  11. To all who know more than I about PtE and Video-Transfer Using PtE since about two years, using the programm for slide-shows containing sound or not, I was always amazed, how good pictures and transitions between the slides come out, when called up as *.exe file on the computer. Finding out, that meanwhile transition to DVD-video-file is possible and registering, that more and more people use DVD-Players together with their TV, I bought DVD-Writer for my PC, Software to play DVD’s on the computer and a DVD-Player for my TV - so hoping to let my friends, who don’t like computers, but allways are sitting before a TV-Screen, see my wonderfull slide-shows. It is a pitty, until now I did not succed to transfer PtE-slideshows to a DVD, which matches properly to the new DVD-Player besides my TV. I use Pinnacle Studio 9 to burn the AVI-File out of PtE to DVD I succedet in: DVD’s which I can start on my computer with Cyberlink Power- DVD, but not start in the DVD-Player at the TV The DVD’s which are played on the computer - have picture quality much under the standard of PtE-EXE files - sometimes the sharpnes of the Picture changes just before the transition to the next picture - music, connected with some pictures within a picture show, is obviously lost in the AVI-transfer by PtE - sometimes a certain picture, which is placed in the list of picture very much later, is often shown, very short, much to early, but, at the right place also. Maybe, I have somewhere in the various setup-screens of PtE or Pinnnacle-Studio made a wrong hook on the wrong place. Looking often into the forum, one recognizes that lots of PtE users fight with the reality of the wonderful programm. Someone should write a manual How to transfer a PtE Slideshow Including Sound to TV-DVD. I keep on trying, but it is anoying to see how many DVD’s are burned as thrash. So I am thankfull for each hint, especially how to include audio tracks of PtE into DVD’s before such a handbook will be made. Walter
  12. Hi All, Hope this is the correct place to post this. I'm receiving the following error message while trying to create an avi. :- "Access violation at address 0411116E in module 'lameACM.acm'.Read of address BC58FFFF" Then PTE freezes and I can do no more. Thankfully I saved the project before this happened. Any advice or help would be great as I want to create a svcd of wedding pics for a friend. [Version 4.31 on XP Home edition] - sorry almost forgot that.. Thanks, Mikel
  13. I am using ULead Movie Factory 3 Disc Creator. I am trying to add an .exe file to play on the computer and the movie file to play on the DVD player. I tried leaving the disk open (box unchecked), then going to the add data section of MF3 after the movie was burned, but I got the message the disk was not empty or there was no disk in the drive! I checked to see if it had finalized afterall, and it was. Then I tried again by adding a folder with these 2 extras included to be burned along with the movie, but it was buried under other folders so the PC did not recognize the autorun file. How can I accomplish this? DVD movie and EXE with autorun file on one disk? Thank you, ~Cindy
  14. Hi I think PtoE is a great programme. I am using Uleam Movie Factory 3 to burn the DVD of a wedding slideshow. It plays fine on my TV through my DVD player. However, the image quality of the DVD is very poor on my laptop. Though it runs smoothly the images look very soft (my Toshiba laptop is 3.02 GHz with 500 Mb RAM and a 15" screen). I have tried other computers and it's the same. Why is this? When I preview within PtoE, the image quality is great. I am supplying a wedding slide show with music to my client and I am having to suppy to versions - a DVD to use with DVD players and the other a CD with the EXE projector for PC use. I wonder if it's possible to make just one DVD which will give good quality images both on the DVD players and PCs. Nishi
  15. I have four PTE av's to burn to DVD. The largest is no longer than 10 mins so they should all fit comfortably on one DVD. Well, I successfully burned AV number one and in doing so I ticked the button " do not close the DVD". I thought this would leave the process open to burn the remaining AV's. When I tried to burn AV -2 , the message came up " the disk is not empty - put a fresh disk in the drive" ( or words to that effect ). How do I burn four AV's on a single DVD ?
  16. Maybe this is not a P2E issue, but I was hoping somebody might be able to help me. I've created my slideshow using P2E. I clicked the video button to save as AVI. I then went to Movie Factory 3 and went through all the steps to burn a DVD. When I click the Burn button, it says there is no room on the disc or there is no disc in the drive. This is a brand new computer with a DVD burner. I've never burned DVDs before so it may just be that I don't know what I'm doing. I bought DVD+R discs. I've tried putting several different ones in the burner and they all give me the same message. I've tried using a regular CD-R and it says there the disc space is not large enough. I know the regular CD-Rs are not big enough for the slide show I'm trying to burn, but the DVD+Rs should be. Any suggestions???? I've been working with this all day and I'm ready to pull my hair out!! Thanks, Candi
  17. Thought you all would like to see what happens when people that use another brand of slideshow software that just makes avi's or mpeg's react when they encounter a P2E exe show. I think it scared them so much they forgot to comment on the shows! desert dave (Below are comments back to me from another forum I posted a link to come visit our gallery of shows) Since you're here... How about a 'note' telling folks what kind of file they're downloading. Once I got into the zip files, I found an .exe sitting there!!! Since my Mama always told me not to trust any exe file I don't know about, it had me Figured it might be a self-extracting file of some kind, but... Finally was a brave sole and disregarded my Mom's best advice and opened the exe file... Anyway, a few 'words' describing the zip file contents (stand-alone video player... or whatever) would help (I think) Mark -------------------- Intel D875PBZ; P4 3.20; 1024MB Kingston KVR400X64C3A; MSI G4Ti4600-TD8X; DVRaptorRT2; 40GB EIDE WDCaviar; 2x160GB SATA WDCaviar RAID 0; WinXP Pro(SP2); DirectX 9c; WinXP Video Driver; Edius 3.0; Imaginate 2.01; PhotoshopCS; Diamond Cut DC Five Post Extras: Print Post Remind Me! It's like my heart stops every time I see ANYTHING on the web with a .exe file extension INSIDE of a Zip file. But, I scanned it with Norton AntiVirus and it said it was clean, so I crossed my fingers, dotted my i's and ran it. Then the whole screen gets taken over and I about had a second heart attack. Luckily, it was just a full-screen slideshow <whew>. This kind of thing CAN scare a lot of knowledgable (computer-wise) folks off, unless they are told up-front what to expect inside the Zip files. So, I agree with Mark. Post Extras: Print Post Remind Me! Notify Moderator Email Post
  18. I am currently investigating which software to use for creating DVD's of my PTE Projects. I already have Pinnacle Studio and Nero 6, and a trial copy of Ulead Movie Factory. Recently I have been trying out Nero 6 and have hit a problem with synchronisation. I have loaded a few PTE projects and created a menu but when I get to the preview screen and play a project I hit problems:- 1. The pictures appear as static pictures one appearing about every 5 / 6 seconds, the pictures do not fade into one another at all. It appears as though it just displays what is currently at that position as sometimes I get a half faded picture of 2 slides. 2. The music and pictures have lost synchronisation, the music finishing about 60 - 70 % of the way through the slides. I most likely have missed something but cannot find anything that I can do to correct this. Has anybody else hit this problem and if so how did they solve it?
  19. Hi, I need some help here: "GSpot" tells me I have 39 video codecs installed. When I click on "Video Codec" button on "Making video" window I can see a list of only 12 codecs. When trying using them, most don't create the avi and I get error: "catCantSetVideoFormat". I have WMP v.10 (probably with all new codecs). How can I display all codecs and can I use any of them ? What's the meaning of the error message ? Does any one know a free reliable wmv2mpeg and avi2mpeg converter ? Thanks Granot
  20. I finally got a new computer with a DVD burner and just successfully burned one of my shows to a DVD-R. I used the default settings in the AVI button in PTE (NTSC, DVD-Video, and only the interlaced box checked On) and the default settings in Sonic My DVD Deluxe 5 for burning the DVD. It worked (took a LOT longer than PTE takes to generate an EXE file on the new machine, though), but when I play the show on my DVD player over my TV set I notice a flickering/shimmering in bright highlights (not in the rest of the image). This is in the interior of the image, not along the frame edges as reported (if I interpret correctly) in some other postings re SVCDs. I find this very annoying and distracting. Has anyone else seen this particular problem with DVDs and found a solution to it? BTW while the image quality on the DVD is much better than on the VCD and SVCD burns I did on my old system (which only had a CD burner), the image quality over my TV set is still inferior to the EXE files on my monitor. Not only are the images not as sharp (not surprising given the limits of AVI resolution), but the images are somewhat more contrasty, and subtle colours tend to desaturate. Also the transition smoothness on some effects (especially page and rhombus among those I've tested) is jagged and inferior in several places on the DVD version, though the fades all look good. I can't see myself using DVD versions of my shows except when I want to display them to a group of people where I don't have access to a digital projector and there isn't room for them to crowd around my computer monitor; the image quality is disappointing compared with what I see on the monitor and over my photo club's digital projector. The sound is very good on the DVD though. I guess it's nice to have the option if I ever find an out-of-town friend who has a DVD player but not a computer (the reverse is far more common in my circle of friends and acquaintances). Further to one of my posts some months ago, for the next version of PTE I still don't see further improvements to the video feature as being nearly as important to me as some other things (e.g., pan and zoom effect). One man's opinion anyway, for what it's worth
  21. Cuase I'm trying and its not working........
  22. When creating DVDs I've found that setting the screen area to 90% usefully gets all the image inside my TV safe viewing area (i.e. image not cut off around the edges). I want to get the Comments (in my case the image file name) to also show in the safe viewing area but frustratingly the title can't be seen at the top of the TV screen. If I use 100% screen area then the title is overlaid on the image which is chopped off anyway around the edges, and 90% setting results in title appearing outside the image but then the title is chopped off, although the full image area can be seen. Does anyone know if there are any tricks to get around this?.... manually adding file names to my images in Photoshop is too labour intensive! If there is no solution can I submit a feature request for a future release?
  23. I have created and burnt about 3 to 4 sliseshows since purchasing P2E and Ulead with no difficulty what so ever. Now Ulead DVD movis Factory 3 is saying that my file is not valid or the format is not supported. I have tried it a multitude of ways. with interlaced checked, with both interlaced and for ulead checked and just for ulead. Help!!! Please. Shelley
  24. I presume that this question has been asked before but having looked through the forum I can not see it being discussed. I am curious as to why when creating video files for burning to DVD or CD, PTE only creates temporary files. Is there some legal / technical reason why this is done? It is just that it seems to me, in my naivety, to be a clumsy way of doing it having to open multi copies of PTE. I have just created a DVD with 5 PTE which has only used just over 1GB on a DVD. I realise that it depends on individual projects but this could mean over 20 PTE projects open to create a DVD which must start to have an impact on the rest of the PC.
  25. I've successfully created an EXE with 24 images and 23 transitions synchronised to music. Each picture is about a 2MB JPG. However I cannot create a good AVI file (PAL standard) after trying all combinations of 'Making of AVI Video File' including 'DVD-Video' and 'Create custom AVI file'. So I haven't even got as far as preparing the file for DVD burning yet. I have previous experience with making DVDs using Adobe Premiere, TMPGenc & Sonic so I'm not new to all this but I'm no expert either! I've tried playing the created AVI files in Adobe Premiere and Media players but the video is always garbled in some way (for example no transitions, out of order slides, mainly blank frames, but audio always OK). I run on Windows 2000 and wondered if this was platform related. On the same PC (Pentium III 800MHz) with dual-boot original version of XP (no SPs) I got different results using the same .pte project file but still the video is garbled in some respect. This even occurs on a test presentation with just three slides. I did notice the P2E Video Codec shows up in the Custom list when running on XP and not on Win2K. I've even tried Uncompressed option with no luck. I'd like to know if this AVI creation feature only really works on latest XP platforms, does this work for anyone on Win 2K? Does anyone have a clue as to what might be wrong with my configurations?
