  1. I have used PTE for several years, but just upgraded to version 4.2 and am trying to do a creat an avi for a DVD. I can't even get started. In the instructions, I can's find out how to do this: " Start PicturesToExe; open your project; and then call AVI video output dialog ("AVI button in the main window of PicturesToExe)" Where is the AVI button, I don't see it. Your subtitle file should have the same filename as your video file (for example Movie.avi and Movie.sub) and should be in the same folder as your video file. Then the subtitles will automatically be displayed in most players. * Matrix Mixer can be used to amplify the sound of a video file. It also can mix stereo sound to multiple channels (useful for 4.1 and higher speaker sets). * Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher can be used to switch between two audio streams in a video file that has two audio streams. These types of video files are not very common. * GSpot is a tool that can tell you exactly which codecs are needed to play a certain video file. This is very helpful when you have troubles playing a video file. * FourCC Code Changer is a program for changing the FourCC code of a video file. The FourCC code is used to identify which codec should be used to decode the file. This tool is for expert users only. The file is 7.09 MB (zipped) ENJOY! Bart btw.... More will come
  3. For a couple of years now I have been capturing with a very old, apparently, Pinnacle program and then edit with Premier 5.0 old also. The end result would be a screen size the dimensions of windows media player. You could increase the size but would be rather pixeled some. But our students had to view the classes in there home computers and that was the idea. That was fine for us. My brother gave me the Roxio 6 program and I made a vcd with some of the classes and played it at home on the dvd for tv. I was amazed at the quality. Not of course as good as the computer but not pixled for the tv. We are excited about this and are going to experement more. Do most of the dvd players today play both vcd and svcd? I have a old dvd sony and this unit will not play svcd. I also did one of my pte presentation for vcd and watched it on hdtv big screen and it blew me away. I have been using Nero V5 only for vcd. V5 will not do svcd unless you upgrade to Nero 6. Apparently you can't buy just the codec for svcd. So when I got the Roxio 6 it had it all. I don't know at this writing if you can edit with Roxio 6 but only add clips that are pre edited with Premier. Anyone know about this? Harry
  4. I have been able the make over 10 different shows in DVD, SDVD, and VCD. In my opinion I can see little difference in quality between DVD and SDVD and VCD. My one problem is whilst in Movie Factory Title page the image I pick as a background for the start of the show has a mottled effect, but as the shows go into 2nd slide picture quailty is fine. Can anyone throw any light on this fault. regards Mike C.
  5. Some time ago someone was good enough in the forum to give precise instructions on how to open a PTE avi file in Ulead and gave the process to convert to a video file for burning to SVCD. I had downloaded the trial version of Ulead Movie Factory 2 but did not have any success with it. However, I have now downloaded the trial version of TMPGEnc and am ing a problem with that too! I am opening my PTE file in Version 4.20 beta #7, clicking on Video, highlighting SVCD and Interlaced video, then Create Video, Save, then get window Creating AVI file, Encoding: Audio, (encoding takes 2 mins 57 seconds and resulting file is 111,370 kb). (I have not closed the PTE file) I then open TMPGE, under Project Wizard I click Super Video CD PAL (for Europe), then next I click Browse for Video file. I find my .avi file, click on it, a box appears headed Judging Field Order and then a message saying “Can’t load ‘P3Package.dll’”. I click ok, then an abort button appears which I click. However, when I then click Browse for Audio file I can find the .avi file, I click on that and it is put in place in the Browse for Audio file box. I then click Next but of course when I click on Source range there is not a video shown, and also when I click on Click Frame. I click on ‘High quality’ in Noise reduction, click next, can see how much space the video would take on a CD, click Next which shows the Output file and, with the Start Encoding Immediately box ticked, I click OK. I then get the message “ File ………… vid469.mpg does not exist” Do you wish to create? Ok / Cancel. If I click Ok I get the message telling me that the free version can only supply 30 days of free MPG2 Encoding because of licencing matter. I only downloaded it yesterday! HELP please!!!
  6. Hi First post. I've been following this thread for some time trying to figure out which program really works in creating a dvd video. Well, Nero express worked the first time I tried it ! Nothing elaborate, about 50 slides.I added my photos in PTE and before previewing or anything else I hit the video button and saved the file. Next, I opened up Nero "make your own dvd-movie" and directed it to my saved avi slideshow file and followed the "next" instuctions. Took about a 1/2 hour for it to render (50 slides), but it worked great. I do have some questions: 1. What size / resolution should my jpgs be to best fit a large wide screen tv? 2. Some of the pictures were a little stretched or slightly blurry, can I improve on this?
  7. Hi there. I am now trying to create a slideshow from a wedding I just photographed. I have about 300 images. Is there a limit to how many photographs you can add to the slideshow? I was trying to watch a preview of the show and it is getting locked up, showing the same image over and over again. Is it because I have too many images? Also I know that my CD only holds 700 MB- so I need to probably make the images smaller than 8x10, 300ppi. Does anyone have any recommendations on file size? I don't have a DVD burner, so my options are few. Thanks
  8. I have been reading all the info on creating the avi files. I assume everyone is doing this to create a movie?? I thought everyone was trying to see a slide show on the television or other media. Why does everyone keep referring to an avi file as a movie??? Am I missing something. Could someone fill me in on the entire conceptual issues...i.e. going from a P2E slideshow with music to an avi then to a DVD. If I opt just to continue making slideshows then why would I want to take the rendering of movie approach to a normal VCD...Please clarify or clear my thinking....jongru
  9. Hi all, I have been reading posts about this for 2 days. I cannot get this video function to work. I create the slide show and click the video button. Then it prompts me to open the avi file (which it is not) in Ulead or something else. Well, I try to open it in Ulead and it tells me that the file format is not correct. What am I doing wrong that the video button does not create an avi file. My file is title_vid527.ptev Please advise. Thanks, Deb
  10. Having seen the preview in Movie Factory 2 and everthing OK, I burned to CD. It burns 100% then Error Message comes up. Failed to convert video file. Error: 80041c21. Can anyone help. Mike C.
  11. Hello everyone; I am using the current version and beta of PTE with Roxio CD/DVD Creator 6. I want to make a simple "slideshow DVD" that plays when the DVD is put into the set top DVD player and stops when the last slide is done. I have imported the PTE avi file into the Roxio Intro clip area and burned the DVD. The DVD slideshow plays but after the last slide it the slideshow starts over again from slide one - I don't want it to repeat just stop after the last slide. I have the PTE option set to "stop on the last slide". Then I tried to delete the Roxio default intro and import the PTE avi file into Movie "A" in the "workshop" and burned the DVD. Then I got a tiny menu button showing the first slide of the slideshow in the middle of the TV screen. After playing around with the DVD player remote I got the slideshow to start. I don't want any menu buttons, I just want the PTE slideshow to start and run one time! Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I am doing wrong? I think the Roxio user manual is very confusing. Thanks - have a great day!
  12. At work I use Premier 5.0 to edit captured video and I want to use transitions. I can't seem to preview transitions to see how they are going to look. I tried the Help button but nothing I could see for preview. Has anyone used Premier and wold know how do do this? Harry
  13. I'm looking to buy software to edit home video from VHS and digital 8 tapes and also to burn PTE shows to DVD. Anyone have any experience with Pinnacle Studio 9 for doing this? I was considering Ulead Movie Factory but there seems to be some problems with version 3 and burning DVDs. Also, I emailed Ulead five weeks ago on with questions about Movie Factory 2 and got no response. If they won't even answer a pre-sale question, how bad are they at answering tech support questions to their users? Again, anyone have any experience with Pinnacle Studio 9? Regards, Mark
  14. I'm trying to convert the PTE AVI file to a QT MOV file using Quicktime Pro. When I try to read in the AVI file, QT Pro tells me that it doesn't have all the software needed to read the file. Anyone know of a solution? This is a 1024x768 show and I'm just using the presets of PCM for audio and PTE video encoding. thanks... Please see the post "QT movies?" in PicturesToExe forum
  15. Movie Factory 2 is not on the site for the recomended program, so I got Movie Factory 3. I followed instructions of someone using MF2 that was working, but this was for dvd and even that isn't working for me. I create it in PTE which gives me a *.ptev file. I go into Movie Factory 3 into create video disc New project/SVC. The button that seems most appropriate is the film strip, which is add video files. I then browse the folder I put it in, and the Files of thpe does have (*.ptev) listed. I select the file, but now it has three numbers added in to the file name I chose. For some reason MF3 then tells me that the File Format is not supported. At this point I have tried a lot of combinations and it's always the same thing. It would seem that Movie Factory 2 is the recomended program that 3 should work, but from all of the cries for help I read here in trying to figure it out, it really doesn't seem to be the best choice, and now I'm asking for help too.
  16. Have Pte show - 256 slides with music - created avi file and burnt to dvd with Roxio DVD builder -part of package of Roxio 6. Took forever to encode but finaly burned to DVD and worked great. Roger Grondin, USA
  17. Good morning from Denver, Colorado: I have sucessfully created a video slide show using Nero Vision Espress 2, now I am wondering if it possible to put a regular slide show and the SVCD show on a CD for distribution for friends. I am assuming that a CD slide show will not run on a DVD player connected to a TV without burning it as SVCD. Would it be possible to burn the SVCD to a CD-RW and then burn a PTE slide show with an autorun.inf and let the user choose which to run? Any thoughts? Thanks Lenny
  18. At my first attempt I have made a really good slide show with music and commentary and recorded it on CD perfectly well. However I would like to prepare a file in order to record it as a SVCD file in order that it can be played on a DVD player. When I click 'Video' on the PTE screen and it then invites me to prepare an AVI file it comes up with the message "..Can't .." but does not say why not !! HELP !!!
  19. Okay... this may have been covered already in previous posts, but this problem is driving me around the bend. I have created a presentation with the newest version of PTE and I want to make it into an .avi file to burn onto a CD ROM. I have followed all of the instructions - click Video, then SCVD disc, making sure it is in NTSC format. I've previewed the file before creating it and it looks great. The pics show and music plays... However, I click Create AVI, and BEFORE clicking finish, I burn the resulting file onto a CD. The file that remains on the CD plays the program I created - BUT WITH NO PICTURES!!! I have music within the slideshow, which plays no problem, but none of my images appear... ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY, VERY APPRECIATED!!!

  22. THis is my first posting since I purchased PTE. I have learned a lot over the past months reading all of the posts about PTE and it's many features. I'm hoping someone can help with my latest frustration. I have used flash in PTE shows with no problems. I can create a PTE show to play on the computer and then copy the show to a CD for use in other computers. I now want to put the show on a VCD. However when I try to encode to create a VCD the flash animation does not appear. I assume that another encoding or process is needed. Can anyone suggest a means of accomplishing this? Hopefully without spending money on an additional program. I am using the latest beta #7 of PTE and Swish-lite to create the .swf file. Thanks. Joe
  23. Hi I took delivery on my new PC a week or so ago and am amazed at the increase in speed over my previous PC. I now have a Pentium IV 3.0Ghz Dual Prcoessor with 1 Gb DDR RAM and a Sony DVD-RW, and it just flies. I have been testing two sequences - a 14 minute sequence of 140 slides with music and another with 40 slides plus music. The slides in the first sequence were sized at 768 pxls x 432 pxls saved as jpegs with medium compression, the second set 1024 pxls x 576 pxls. Previously it took over 2½ hours to encode the 14 minute avi to SCVD and now it did a full DVD in 16:9 format comprising both the 6½ minute show and the 14 minute one plus a title screen in just over an hour. The difference in image size did not faze either PTE or Nero. The quality on my 28" widescreen 100 Hz TV is excellent and looks slighter better than on previously made SVCDs. In light of my increase in performance and the quality of Nero Vision Express encoding/burning I shall not need TMPGEnc, et al !!!! The PTE Beta #7 performed admirably.
  24. Hi Did I read somewhere that the avi file created by PTE can be saved as a tangible file and used later to encode to either DVD or SVCD? I want to put several sequences onto one CD/DVD as chapters and cannot see how to do this unless I can save each avi file made and then bring them into my encoding software (Nero Vision Express or TMPGEnc) to make a composite SVCD/DVD. Any help would be appreciated.
