What version of PTE are you using.

I have tested with .WAV file and waveform works fine here. (ver 6.0)

Can you try a MP3 without messing up your presentation, to see if icon works.

What settings do you show in "View" - "Timeline Options" - "Display Waveform As"

Hi

I am not able to get the waveform visible on the timeline although the wav file is loaded and playing .

any suggestions ?

Claudia

Simple Test :

Open the wave file in Windows Sound Recorder (sndrec32.exe) and play the file. If you dont see a waveform in the sound recorder display you need to convert the format to PCM.

*Note : make sure you perform your format conversion on a file copy so as to keep the original file in tact if need be.

Hi ,

Thanks for the reply ; the wave file already is PCM , about four minutes with a size of 88MB and 3072kbps ; 32 bit ; 48khz Audio sample rate - I see the icon but can't click on it because the frame is not active .

Is there maybe a template out there that I could simply copy and adapt ?

Claudia,

Just thinking out loud here:

A normal WAV file would be 44.1KHz and 16 Bit.

I'm not sure that PTE supports 32 Bit 48KHz WAV files - maybe it does?

Why not do what everyone else does - convert to MP3?

256Kbps and 44.1KHz Stereo is ideal and possibly TOO high a quality depending on your audience.
