  1. Hi All Been out of the loop for a few days and whilst I have read the contents of this thread, time has not allowed me to respond. Ian, thank you for that information; I shall read your article with interest. Bart; thanks for hosting the images for us...... Ron; hey Ron, are you being a kiljoy here? I can see at least 36 images between you, me, LumenLux and Alan, and I haven't even started looking yet - where's your imagination? In fairness to Bart, (and I may be speaking out of turn here), I believe that he was so deeply engrossed in programming the gallery for us that he missed a few threads on here where we decided to limit to one category only and agree a size. As a consequence, I know that he has kindly set up about 5 or 6 categories for us.......I see no harm in anyone putting up images into the other categories as this is a photo gallery, and I think that this should be both applauded and encouraged.......as long as we agree to use only the 'architecture' images for the 'challenge'.....and besides guys, this is a learning and a fun experience! As I said earlier, I can see at least 36 images from the 12 that are already submitted - think about it! Ofcourse, all those thousand members plus that haven't joined in the fun, are welcome to submit images to Bart's site both for the challenge and just because it's there! Go for it! The Image Suite
  2. Hi LumenLux You'll find out soon enough when they bill you next! Joking apart............did you purchase the domain name from them? Have you thought about going to a domain name site and putting in your own URL into the search to see if it is free and then when it shows that it has been purchased, double-clicking to see who is hosting through the information sheet.......? Not entirely sure that all the information will be there but it's worth a try............what is the URL anyway? The Image Suite
  3. Hi If I could just add, in a seperate email to me, in response to my enquiry, Bart tells me that the thumbnails are, as we guessed, defaulting to a set 400 pixels wide which is why we are experiencing the down-sizing Ron. Perhaps some of the other guys should now step in and let us know what they would like to see here for the challenge. I am happy for Bart to retain the images on the sizes he has already mentioned for normal day to day use, but perhaps we should look at this challenge as a one off? What do you all think? Ron, I'd be very interested to read Ian Bateman's article as I have never experienced an image of 72 dpi 'on screen' being as good when enlarged in excess of the 100% mark, unless I have used genuine fractals! 4. Hi Ron (First......a grammatical adjustment to my earlier message.....should read 'emerging' - sorry folks!) Ron, with the greatest will in the world the images aren't going to size up from 640 to 1024 and still look good, especially at 72 dpi..........my bigger concern is the downsizing of the images and I have emailed Bart to ask if they are defaulting to 400 pixels width - I guess they are as my original images of 320 are on there and if you double click on these to show them at their true size, nothing happens (that is, I would suggest, because they are smaller than 400) - if you double click on yours (640's) they enlarge to the true size, but you can't copy them in any shape nor form........at least my system doesn't allow that. If you email them to yourself and save them as a postcard and then convert/save them to jpegs in photoshop, they remain at 400 - as the postcard image is 400 - so my guess is that Bart's system is set at 400 - possibly to conserve space. Personally, I don't have an issue with this size, and can work through this if need be, as it is only an experiment........let me know what you think and I'll let you know what Bart says in his reply. Regards The Image Suite
  5. Hi Ron I like the images.......I can see a blend immerging! How did you download them? I haven't noticed a facility for that other than 'Downloads' which I got the impression was for software.......(have to confess, that I haven't experimented nor looked to thoroughly). I wonder if Bart's site has a max size to which it defaluts? Also what resolution have they been saved at - 72 dpi? Anyway, we can iron the quality issue out......good to see some action occuring....well, everyone else, Ron and I have thrown out the challenge! Who else is going to rise to it? Deadline: for images Midnight UK time - 1st March 2004??? The Image Suite
  6. Hi Ron Good to hear from you.........thumbnails? No, I don't think so, well at least I haven't. I haven't had time to get around to removing the existing images and replacing them with the larger versions......assuming I can find them again in my library! It has been a bit manic here...........with a new round of workshops starting Tuesday. Cheers The Image Suite
  7. Hi All I guess that the lack of recent activity in this thread is because you are all busily preparing your three images for the Third Image Challenge?
  8. Hi Jacksno8 Fraught with danger! I suggest that you have a good look through the forums within here, as this has been covered in here very thoroughly in the past. I would also refer you to the 'C' word section of the website for the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (sorry I don't have the address to-hand but it appears on top in the Google search) which as a whole screed on the subject. In short, I don't recommend it - I believe the fines are heavy. The internet is awash with royalty free music that you can buy for as little as $29 a track.......I develop and produce commercial audio-visuals for a living and I wouldn't risk it - hence I purchase all my tracks off 'royalty free' sites where you are supplied with a recognised licence. The danger ofcourse is....who is your client going to show it to - and the morality is - would you like someone to rip off your products? Hope this helps The Image Suite
  9. Hi DS The website design is not a core activity for The Image Suite, which is why we don't pro-actively advertise it. Clients, however, often want an audio-visual to compliment their website design, so we offer to combine the a/v development and design with a re-vamp of an existing site or the build of a new website.....to create a branding. As for cost...........how long is a piece of string? It varies greatly.........if you have a specific requirement, then I recommend that you email us directly for a quotation. Sorry not to be more helpful on the costs, but we tailor the costs and the offering to the clients budget. Thanks again for the interest, and for the compliments on our site......feedback is always appreciated, whatever the tone! The Image Suite
  10. Hi Digital Stories Re the new workshops. One has been completely developed and the other is about 70% there, but we have some other activities going on so we are looking to co-incide the launch with this other news.........but the workshops are totally unique! Thanks for the interest ............will keep you posted, and ofcourse it will first be announced on our website. The Image Suite
  11. Hi Barry Did your guy save to CD and use autorun to open the file and play it? If so the PC becomes confused as to which version to open - the one on the CD or the version still retained on hard disk....this will sometimes have a similar effect to the delay he is experiencing. The Image Suite
  12. Hi Ron Pleased that you are comfortable with the arrangement.........will catch you in MMM sometime............. Regards The Image Suite
  13. Hi Ron We haven't left the site Ron - purely opened a second thread in Bart's site where he is hosting the 'challenge' to make it easier for the likes of Maureen who feels she gets lost in long threads like this. I shall continue to use this site and still use Bart's site too......I'm more than happy to continue here.......can't remember Bart's URL, but if you go to my website (www.theimagesuite.co.uk) and then the Audio-visuals Workshop page, then there is a link on there to Multi-Media Matrix - which is Bart's site. Re size: we have fixed on 640 width..... Cheers The Image Suite
  14. New thread commenced on the 'Challenge' on Multi-Media Matrix site - see under 'Placing images on the web' category - very bottom of the forums page, ftb. Thanks
  15. Hi Claire You will really need to invest in a music editing software like Cool Edit or some such alternative............it is mind boggling at first glance but there are enough guys here to walk you/talk you through it......and what you are seeking to do is simple enough when you have the right software...................(or there again you could attend one of my workshops! ) I don't know how experienced you are at this lark and some of the jargon on the technical threads can leave one a bit lost at times, but if you have a problem, then please return and ask or email one of us directly......don't be afraid to ask! Have fun! The Image Suite
  16. Hi Barry Yes, you are absolutely correct in what you say.........refer to exchange of forum messages dated 1st Feb (08.46 p.m.) through to 2nd Feb where we have discussed the ideal of the third image from two images. However, not everyone has the skill to develop a third image from two, so the starting point of the exercise is to get new a/vers to first consider the third image as a new concept, rather than merely use the modern transitions which are killing the third image off. I agree wholeheartedly too that having great images is just as important.......but perhaps, just perhaps, the concept of the introduction of the third image to those new a/vers that have never heard of it before, may actually improve their approach to photography, get them thinking outside the box and improve their first, second and all other images! The Image Suite
  17. Hi Ron Yes, they are jpgs........... Haven't yet had time to delete old and renew - am right in the middle of a project - will do it in down time this evening probably........... Cheers The Image Suite
  18. Hi All I have to say, that when I resized it I thought it was going to be too small but wanted to gauge your reaction. No worries this end, I shall take those down and resubmit them twice the size. Do you think that size will be okay to work with Ron? The Image Suite
  19. P.S. If you ever forget the URL for the Multi-Media Matrix, you can always go through my site..........link is on Audio-visual Workshops page (Great job Bart..........I know how hard you have been working to get that up and running for us, so 'Thank You' from us all!) The Image Suite
  20. Hi Everyone Bart has sorted the Gallery................. Small problem on registration but he's on to that............... I have put the first three Architecture images up on the system....................over to you! The Image Suite
  21. Hi Harry It sounds to me that you may be trying to import each presentation from different locations/files in the project file and then save as one show - is that right? If so, it could be that one is overwriting the other. If you are looking to combine the 3 x presentations, the safe way to do it is that you place all the images for all 3 shows in the same 'project' file and build one show with them from there, to flow into each other, i.e. Mexico City, Cacun and then Key West. Alternatively, you could try linking them through 'Customize Slide' (using tha last slide of each show) by selecting 'Run external application', then select the new show from your source file. That said, unless they are all very short presentations, it may well be best to show them as individual shows, as the file size may be inconvenient to upload/download. Hope this works for you. The Image Suite
  22. Watch this space............two new Digital Audio-visual Workshops coming soon! The Image Suite
  23. Updated 'News' at www.theimagesuite.co.uk The Image Suite
  24. Hi LumeLux Yes, I agree - Bart has done great job on his site......it would be good if we could support him on this.......I know he has been burning the candle at both ends to get this together for us............ Catch you on the chat sometime! The Image Suite
  25. Hi All Bart informs me that the Gallery has a small bug........he is working on it as we speak (type) and will revert soonest.........thanks for your patience. The Image Suite
