  1. thanks for the replys. I don't really understand how to do either one. However I do like Nobeefstu's idea of creating separate sections make good sense. Can you elaborate a bit more on how I would do this? What do you mean by accessing each section though your menu exe?
  2. I am using pic2exe for my wedding presentations. when I give my customer a cd I inclued 2 shows (same images) the first show is just to watch.. has music, no file #'s the second copy has the file numbers, no music, no transitions, and the nav bar. the purpose of this is so they can study the image closer. Is it possible to make the show start at a different point other than the beginning? How about at the end so they could work backwards? I have had a couple of customers complain that it takes a long time to scroll through all the images (usually 500+) to get to certain parts. could a button be added to the nav bar to take you to the end like there is one to take you to the beginning?
  3. We are using a Maxtrox Parhelia video card... Two monitors and one VCR/TV. When the video card detects DVD, Avi, ect video it sends to the VCR/TV. This is what we want to happen. But the Picturestoexe slide show is not being sent out. It stays on the PC monitor. We need to send this video out to be recorded on VCR tape for our clients. Please help. Maybe we need to convert the Picturestoexe show to another format... if so does anyone now how? Thanks soooo much!
  4. I think the way Mark is suggesting is the way to do this. I have created a few actions in photoshop to do the same thing, although all I am doing with the actions is to add the border. A few tips for creating the action is ... when you select all (ctrl A on a pc) and go to stroke you need to select - stroke inside. if your stroke is outside it won't show up as it is outside of your canvas. Also you need to tell photoshop what color to make the frame. If when you record your action, you tell it to choose foreground color, then, before you run the action you can decide what color to make the frame and it won't always have to be white (or whatever) Once the action is created, you run file>automate>batch and the action will be applied to all photos in the folder you choose, while you go and have lunch. Actions are very easy to create once you have done one or two, and can be as elaborate or simple as you wish. They are a real time saver and can be used for many tasks
  5. I think this is a great idea. I do find the help files a bit to be desired. If it wasn't for this forumn I would still be scratching my head. I'm sure you don't need my assistance in creating this but I sure would like to read it when you are done.
  6. thanks for the replys. I didn't realize this feature was available
  7. I belong to another forumn that has the feature that when you either start a thread or respond to one, you are notified via email when someone else has responded. Not a big deal, but can be a reminder to go back to the forumn
  8. I recently changed the sizing I use for my jpegs when making a pic2exe show, and the images show up a bit smaller. When I watched the show on another monitor, the images were not centered on the screen. No big deal for verticals but the horizontals were cut off slightly by the edge of the screen. Perhaps my shows have always looked like this but with the sizing I used to use, the horizontals filled the screen so maybe I just never noticed it. Is there a setting for this or am I doing something incorrectly?
  9. I use tv gold also, however I use the s-video connection to transfer to video
  10. I don't think you wil see a problem with the quality of the show. As far as showing on a tv... all you need is a audio/video out jack on your video card. go from that directly to the same input on the tv you would not use the same files to make a show as you would to order prints. you need to make small jpeg copies of the high rez files to use to make a pic2exe show. this could be done as a batch action in photoshop or with countless other programs
  11. I am currently using 4.0 beta #1 - having no problems. I just got the newsletter saying version 4.0 can be downloaded. Is there a difference between 4.0 and beta 4.0? should I download this version?
  12. I have found that the music always ends with a slide left to go. What I always do is to have a ending title slide (I use my studio name and logo) and usually put it in twice with a dissolve between them. that works great for me
  13. have you tried using the file browser within photoshop 7? you would have to sort images by folders but within each folder you can assign a prefrence to the images - "a" being most important , and then "B" ect
  14. I have noticed this also - delete comments for specific slides and next thing you know they'e back. I can't remember exactly step by step but I know this has happened more than once. Next time I will pay attention
  15. Vince: are you aware that with the 760 you can shoot with 2 cards? The raw files will be written to card 1 and you can set it up so it will write the same file in a jpeg mode on card 2.
  16. Vince: I use photodesk, which is the software that ships will kodak cameras. not only can you convert to jpeg but you can do many other manipulations to the images. I'm not sure if capturing directly to express digital will mess you up or not. Iwouldn't think so as long as they files are still in the raw format. even if they were converted to tiff you can still convert to jpeg. another easy way is to set up an action in photoshop and then run a batch conversion. simple to do-if you need instruction reply to this post and Iwill spell it out.
  17. some great suggestions here - thanks to all who replied. I was expecting to hear things like pretty woman or american woman (songs like that) I guess the members of this forumn has much more class than to use such popular music. I am always looking for different music and looks like I have lots of direction here. By the way I did contact the maker of the show "Uninted Way" and all he could tell me was the song was by Enya. He didn't know the title as he didn't make the choice. I knew this would open the proverbial copyright can of worms! But then I guess that's an issue that will never go away
  18. I haven't even cosidered the royalty free music as there is so much great music out there waiting to be used. I'm no authority on copyright laws but I don't think I'm breaking any law by using the music for background in a show that is not given away or sold. (am I?) I agree with guru that it is a personal taste thing and where I am at with my presentations is using music that people recognize. My latest favorite group is Enigma. some of their songs can add a powerful impact to a show. I think these are some great suggestions - keep them coming. Guru: thanks for your offer to send the mp3. I will attempt to contact Ashleyphoto first to get the name before I impose on you. Very gratious of you to offer
  19. I am a professional photograher and I use pic2exe as a show for every client to view their images for the first time. I find the impact of the images set to the right music can bring tears to the eyes of anyone. (helps put them in the right mood to spend money too) The problem I'm having is finding a collection of just the right music. I am always looking for something different and wondering what songs does everyone doing this use? some of my choices are Enya-watermark, what a wonderful world-louie Armstrong, you are the sunshine of my life- stevie wonder, Danny Wright-shadows (soft piano solos) Have I told you lately-VanMorrison some Disney stuff. Now don't anybody start with the copyright stuff - these are shows the client views one time in my studio and I'm not selling the shows! I remember a show I downloaded from beech\brook a while back called "uninted way" an excellent show with a music background I always wanted to know but never found out. (anybody know?) Any thoughts on different songs that are apprioate for this would be appreciated
  20. It sounds to me like these are some great additions to P2exe. My problem is I am still having trouble with getting autorun to work and doing custom sync. (and I have owned the program for over a year!) Maybe Boxig should be put on the payroll and these features could be incorperated into the show to make it less complicated. and don't say to me it's not! even though I work with a computer every day I only know enough to be dangerous. Will somebody write a book P2exe for dummys? (you can put my picture on the cover!)

Guido: thank you for all the info. hard to believe with all the technology nowdays that you would have to resort to a cassette recorder. Maybe I should get out my old reel to reel?

Pip: what is a minidisc recorder? Can you give us a link to a site with info about these?

    PS

now make an action from these steps and you can apply the same effect to an entire folder of images with the push of one key. I do this with my wedding shows before making the pic2exe show by using an action that creates a frame around the image
  24. I printed out Dana's help file to include with the cd when I give it to a client. I think it is well read and provides more info than I had thought to hand out. You mention that if the show doesn't run steady to copy the files to your hard drive and play it from there. I have found this problem on occasion and didn't realize there was a work around solution. Is it the cd reader that can't keep up? I always thought it was a slow processor? You mention that to copy the show to a hard drive to copy two different files (both exe) Is this the entire show? Is there a way to only copy a portion of the show to a hard drive(such a the jpeg files)

Guido: In your reply you menitioned that you like to record your music live. I would like to do this for background music for wedding shows. Could you give me more info on how you do this? Such as what you use to record and how to transfer to the computer? thanks
