  1. There is a strange behaviour of the right click with Sy(P).

If you want to select several pictures you need to use as normal a combination of left click and then Shift or Ctrl keys +Click.

I do use the normal combo of Left-click, Shift, Left-click to highlight the range of images. I did not use a Right-Click. I just tried it again and the last image in the series appears first in the list.

    Gary...

  2. I think I have found a quirk in the "Picture Pool" function. When I select, say, slides 6 through 12, the slide #12 shows up as the first slide. Each time I try this, selecting different groups of slides, the last slide shows up as the 1st slide and it is numbered as #1. Am I doing something wrong or is this what is actually happening??? Thanks... Gary

  3. Greetings,

I had been having problems with my MovieFactory2. Though it worked in the past, all of a sudden it was not recognizing the ".ptev" temporary file made by PTE. I think one solution given by other users was to unclick the "interlaced" choice in PTE. But this, I understand, might reduce the final quality of the DVD. Having tried everything else, I kept "interlaced" selected but I deselected the "Ulead" choice that Igor's instructions say to choose. Having done that, I then process it and get an AVI file that Ulead DOES recognize. I continued the process with ULead and made a very good looking DVD. So, for those who I see have been having the same problems that I have had, give this a try.

Also, I notice that after creating the DVD, a file called "_difc.chk" is created in the same folder as the "dvd.iso" file. I don't burn directly to the DVD. I "Create a disk image file" first which gives me the "dvd.iso" file that I can use again in the future to burn more of the same slide show. But I would like to know what this "_difc.chk" file is. I don't see anyone mentioning it in their process. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate any help.

    Thanks... Gary

  4. After you have PTE create the video file, you are leaving PTE active and not clicking on the Finish button - correct!? That way Ulead should recognize the file correctly.

If that's not it, what Windows Operating System are you running under?

    Let me know.

    Fred

Fred, Yes, I am following all the instructions including not clicking on the Finish button. I am using WinXP. I have made DVDs through this process using my Ulead MovieFactory2 before. It is just that all of a sudden, Ulead does not recognize the .ptev temporary file and I get "unable to open file. File format mismatch..."

But I just came across a solution that I will add as a new topic. Gary

i think if you use thesearch function of the forum the problem with interlace and ulead has been discussed

    ken

Ken... I really did do a search through the Forum and did find out that others have had this same problem. But no real solution except that the newer version should fix it. I have the latest 4.32beta. The only 'solution' that I found was from Igor, but he mentioned that it might help but it was not "the" solution because the quality would not be as good. So I am still confused what to do. It work find before. Now the program is giving me fits when I try to create the DVD. If anyone can tell me if there is a solution, I'd appreciate any help. I really tried to find a solution by searching through the Forum so much that my eyes are spinning. I will continue to search, but if anyone can tell me why this is happening, it would really help.

If it worked before, why isn't it working now???

    Thanks... Gary

  6. Another slight concern:

Text, that I put on the left side of an image, gets cut off when viewing the DVD on the TV. It does not get cut off when Previewing the .exe file, nor does it get cut off when doing the Video Preview.

I have the Screen Options set to 85% and font at 24 Arial. When I have a vertical image, and put some text (like "Mason du Compost") in the space to the left of the image, the "Ma" gets cut off. Looks fine on the PC screen but after I burn the DVD and look at it on the TV, the first couple letters were cut off.

So I have to make the corrections and re-burn another DVD after moving the text more to the right or reducing the font size. What I would like to know is this a function of my TV or what? I don't like to have to go through the burning routine to find that I have a problem that a Preview did not show up. Any suggestions???

    Thanks... Gary

  7. Greetings... I have burned several DVDs with not too many problems. Now when I try to re-create an updated video I have previously made using Ulead MovieFactory 2, I can not.

I go through the process and when I get to the point of calling up my Ulead MovieFactory2 and click on Add Video to find the PTE file, it does not read that PTE video temporary file. If I change it to All Files, and click on the .ptev file, I get "File Format Mismatch." I am pretty sure that is the process I successfully followed before. But now it does not work. I just upgraded to the PTE 4.32beta version. I don't think that is the problem but I don't know. Maybe my brain is getting worn out but I can't figure out what I might be doing wrong.

    Any help??? Thanks... Gary

EDIT: P.S. I JUST TRIED CREATING A VIDEO AFTER UNCHECKING THE "INTERLACED VIDEO" CHOICE. NOW IN ULEAD, IT SHOWS THE FILE AS AN .AVI FILE. SO MAYBE IT IS A BUG IN 4.32???

  8. Thanks for all the replies. Good (well not "good") to hear I am not the only one...

1- Yes, I do have "show transition effect to desktop after last slide" selected.

2- Yes, I also started with a "blank" slide. I undid that and put in an actual black slide as the 1st slide.

3- Yes, I get that "blink" too at the end of the show.

I downloaded, I thought, version 4.32 beta. I installed it but it still says 4.31. Should it say 4.32???

    Thanks... Gary

Edit.... I just d/l'd the 4.32 and it does say "4.32". Not sure what I did before. I'll see what this one does.

  9. I was able make a video. All was working just fine. But then I went back to the program and re-did the font of some text on the last two slides. Then the program would not show these last two slides. It got stuck on the 3rd slide from the end. The music continued but the images did not show up. I went back to the timeline and they were not there. So I click on "Timed Points" and "Add..." and these 2 slides were added to the timeline. I think this may be a bug in the program??? It is like I had to force it to add these slides. But then a new problem appeared.

:( I came across another problem. After the slide show completely ends, I get the error messages "exception EInvalidPointer in module p2e_prev.exe..." and then "exception EAcess Violation in module p2e_prrev.exe..." This happens after playing it within the program and also playing the EXE file.

    Any ideas? Thanks.... Gary

  10. Al... Yes, I went into the timeline and clicked below the timeline...just trying anything...and then it worked. I did not have this problem in previous versions. I did make the DVD video and it came out really nice. But then I went back to the program and re-did the font of some text on the last two slides. Thanks... Gary

  11. Sorry I put this in the other Forum by mistake...still learning how this Board works.

I have a slideshow that have over 700 images. And it works just fine as an .exe. However, when I try to create a video of it, I get an error message of "not enough transition points." Well, I'm pretty sure there are plenty transition points. I am using the 'customize sychronization'. I get the error message whether I hit Create AVI or Preview. Can anyone tell me what might be going wrong??? Thanks... Gary

  13. I would like a method that would allow the ability to match up the music tracks with slides. I have a slideshow with over 700 slides and 15 music tracks. It is difficult to match up what music is playing with which group of images. The maker of "PTE-Adjuster" recommended that: "Igor would add the lengths for each music selection to the .pte script file, I could easily change "PTE-Adjustor" to show which images were associated with which piece of music."

That would be nice. But also, I thought of another way within the program to do this. When we are in the "Customize Sychronization" mode, it would be nice when we select "Waveform" if the name of that "Waveform" show up at the beginning of that Waveform.

    Thanks... Gary

PS I tried to put this in the Suggestion for Next Version but I don't think it is in the right spot yet. Not sure how to get it in that Forum....Anyway, Igor, hope you read this one.

  15. I have created a slide show with over 700 images and 15 MP3 music tracks. All went well. However, I want to switch some of the music tracks around but, since the tracks are just instrumentals that are not memorable, it is hard to figure out what group of images are associated with each music track.

I tried to use "Customize Sychronization' mode. In the past, as the slideshow was played, the images images would change as the music played. However, with this new version, the initial image just sits there as the timer scrolls and the music plays. Is there how it is supposed to work now???

I there any other way to associate the group of images that are shown with a particular music track??? It would be nice if the name of the music track was shown somehow next to each image so it is easy to determine exactly what is going on... Is this possible???

    Thanks... Gary

Edit: P.S. After playing around with the Customize Sychronization mode, I figured out how to get the images to show as it scrolled. You have to actually click on a slide number in the bottom section of the window. But I'd still like to know if there is a way to match up the slides that are to play with each music track.

  16. I put this question earlier but it didn't seem to get posted. Trying again:

I initially 'created' the .exe filename with 'Create'. However, now I want the 'Create' button to create a different filename with this same PTE slideshow. I can't see how to make it stop using the old filename and use a new filename. After I 'create' the .exe file, I have to rename it using MyComputer. Is there anyway to make 'create' make a different .exe filename???

    Thanks... Gary
