  1. They most likely just right-click the mouse button and saved the image to a file, while they viewed the pictures. This is a problem with the windows environment and not a failure of PTE. It has been talked about on many forums having to do with photographs and short of watermarking the images and using much lower resolution images, your will not prevent this. There are means to prevent right-clicking on the image, but there are more ways to get around that. Digital images are very easy to shanghi by someone who really wants them, no matter what you do. You have to trade off easy access to the customer (to make the sale) against a resonable solid effort to prevent it. Right now it is best use low resolution images (they will not make great prints) and a watermark. Their easy and will stop the largest percentage of people from stealing the images, but will not stop a motivated person. jays
  2. Guido, Good to hear your still up and about. Like you, I spend more time just reading the posts and not so much putting my 2 cents in. I still do once in awhile when the questions is something new and different. Hope your doing well!!! jays
  3. Connie, As Guido said, it's difficult to know what is going on with your client's machine. It could be a conflict with a program they have running in background or it could be the CD itself. Some CDROM drives are more sensitive to CD imperfections. You just don't know. However, Guido suggestion of merging the three songs into one will eliminate a possible problem transitioning between mp3s. jayspry
  4. Igor, You need to follow Bart's advice now. Take a long vacation and relax!!!! jayspry
  5. Bart, How true are your words! I, like you, feel that most of the problems and complaints about PTE have to do with OS upgrades and background programs running, with a good helping of not enough horsepower in the computer system being used. Again you prove how accurate and truly wise you are. Did I score any points . All kidding aside, I think your pointing out a big source of problems people are having. jayspry
  6. Guido, Doesn't he need an updated Windows Media Player? I seem to recall a problem using older version. I guess that would depend on how long ago he installed his version of XP, if he has done any updating and whether or not it was an upgrade or a clean install. I'm also not sure if there is not a conflict between players; i.e. Real Player and Windows Media Player. jayspry
  7. We're going to need more info. Like size of show, picture size, music file size, configuration of the computer, etc. Remember, the requirements for PTE are for PTE, not the requirements for the shows you run. You may have all the system requirements to make the show, but the show is so large that it exceeds your system resources. jayspry
  8. Well, anymore I only reply when I think the subject or problem is within my area of expertise or my personal knowledge. The only other times I'm replying is to have some fun with some of the regulars (but Guido no longer rises to the comments). I learned a few months back that your opinions can get you flamed in a heart beat, by others "opinions"; even when you come to the defense of others your ingorant or going down the slippery road. So, I stick to the issue at hand and try not to put my opinions out. I'd like to think this forum is still fun. jayspry
  9. The best place to put the screen saver is the \system32 directory under the Windows directory. If you don't have a \system32, then \system is the place. From \system32 the Display control can find the screen saver and offer it as a selection. That's where I put mine. jayspry
  10. nspindel, I think you will get better results doing what you say your going to do. Stu, I think, is pointing out the real problem with the size of you show on that limited system. I bet out of the 256MB of RAM, you have less than half available to run this show. The EXE is going to try to load as much in to RAM as possible and then it has to swap out pieces and parts. This swapping and contiguous free space on the Hard Drive has a lot to do with how smoothly the EXE will perform. So, if you can trim it down you should get better performance. jayspry
  11. Ken, I'm trying to remember what one of the problems was, but if I remember correctly and from some of my experience, some installations of NT don't like display settings to change on the fly; depending on what is loaded and hardware of course. We ran into problems with X software that changed the screen resolution and then a screen saver would kick in and you could not get the screen up again. You had to reboot. I again don't remember the issues, but I do think it had something to do with the way NT (4) was handling display features changing on the fly. It might have been a conflict with system premissions. jayspry
  12. You can do the same thing that Acid does with either CoolEdit Pro or Sony and Magix make music programs that can take loops and generate a musical piece. I don't remember what CoolEdit Pro costs, but the Sony and Magix software is between $40 - $70. jayspry
  13. All I've got to say is that at Guido's age there are sooooooo many candles on the Birthday Cake, that upon lighting the candles the Fire Department shows up looking for the reported fire!!! Hey, we might be able to roast a pig over that fire!! ! Well mine is less than a week away. It won't be a grand as Guido's!!!!! jayspry
  14. I posted this over in Bart's forum, but if you would grant me your patients. I send out my prayers to all the friends and family of the good ship Columbia. My God bless and keep them! jayspry
  15. Like Ian, I'll stick with my statements. The parameter in the FAQ are for the program PTE itself and what it is capable of producing. They are not talking about how a generated EXE will perfom on a system. that issue will always be great affected by the configuration of the hardware and software residing on the system. Your show appears to be big to allow it to perform on almost any "standard" configuration of equipment. Music replays and those large images take a lot of memory and the EXE is having to swap in and out. You are not the first to have this problem and you will not be the last. Most of us have set more of less a configuration that will run on most machines. You presentation is special, that makes is large and the price you pay is slower response. I think you will find that even with the "fix" to PTE, you will not be happy with how it performs with that presentation. jayspry
