Hello Al, Jeff, John, Ken, Ron
Many thanks for your responses. It was very interesting for me to hear about your solutions synchronazing slides and music. Because I synchronized all my show manually I am not familiar using the timeline.
From there I have some stupid questions:
Example
All my shows have the same structure:
Project Options NO Background music for show
S01
S02
S03 Play new background music file(s) | M01
S04
S05
S06
S07 Before synchronization M01 is ending here BUT M01 sould end at S09
S08
S09
S10
S11 Play new background music file(s) | M02
S12
S13
S14
S15
S16
S17
S18 Before synchronization M02 is ending here BUT M02 sould end at S15
S19
S20
Is it possible to manipulate (shrink/extend) the duration of the slides using timeline?
Moreover I believe there is a bug in V5. When I use 1 background music for my show - this music is always started when I <start preview from the currect slide>
Yours Manfred
Ron,I have used the "sound" field under the slide preview window to quickly add a sound file to a slide often. This is quick and easy to do if you wish the sound to start with the slide. The main drawback I find with this method is the lack of control over the volume when the effect file plays over the main/background sound file. This is the method I assume you are commenting on as when adding a sound effect under the "custimize slide>music" tab the background sound is lost while it plays.
Manfred,
Using my method as described earlier you can stop the show at any point you wish with the keyboard, mouse or navigation bar. When the show is restarted, (again with the keyboard, mouse or navigation bar), then music and images will continue from that point still in complete sync. I have used this same technique to deliver lectures on photography and other subjects, often pausing to answer questions or give more details. It is also possible to add sections of silence within the sound file to coincide with a number of slides if you wish to talk while these slides are displayed and the show continues.
Your English is fine, much better than my German.

Hope this is useful to you Manfred.
Hello John!
Many thanks for your complete answers to all of my questions.
I understand the technique you use to synchronise your slide shows.
This method I believe is suitable if you do not interrupt your slide shows or if you are creating an AVs.
Normally I create shows (lectures), which I can stop on well defined slides to make explanations or to answer questions of the audience
So I have synchronised slide-sequences with music which should not be interrupted (for example: if I show the impressive landscape of dunes) and such slides where I can stop (left click).
AAAAAAAAAAAAABBBAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBAAAAAA
Synch M1 Synch M2 Synch M3
A customized slide with OaA
B slide, which can be stopped
My problem is synchronizing the A sequences comfortably.
At the moment I do it arithmetical.
I beg your pardon for my bad english!
Yours
Manfred

Manfred, have a look at my AV "Riding the Wind" if this is want you want to do with sound let me know and I will try to explain how I did it.
Download Av from here:
Hi John,
many thanks for your great AV "Riding the Wind"
Your show is precisely what I need.
You solved all problems I have/had; but I am sure more elegantly. How did you realise the music problem? Is the linkage of music 1 and music 2 as backgroundmusic the best technique? I solved it in older shows with sound! (sound = music) and manual synchronisation. PTE 5.0 offers <Play new background music (files)>; but I think with no synchronisation. May I get an small .PTE file which shows your solution? How do you synchonize music and slide sequences? Timeline? Can the adjustor from Alrobin help?
Thanks for your responses,
Manfred

Hi,
has anybody an example (.PTE) with many sounds and more than 1 background music?
Is it possible to synchronise <new background music> and a number of slides?
Many thanks.

Hello Al
Many thanks for your interest in my compatibility - problem.
My show has lots of slides and sounds. If you give me your email address I will try to send you the template as appendix. It was my first experience with PTE. I believe that I can improve it with V5!
By the way I can catch some word corresponding with you: Audacity, Audition, Cubase. What is plug-flattery?
In September I start an motorhome trip thru Canada Toronto Ottawa Quebec Montreal Toronto.
A big chance for a new slide show - foliage!
Manfred
Manfred,
It's too bad, but you'll have to wait for Igor to add that feature back in for PTE v.5 before you can use it. In the meantime you might consider amalgamating all your sound effects and narration into one file using "Audacity" or better still, "Audition" or "Cubase". In any case I would be interested in seeing your show - any chance of posting either the version 4 show or a re-created version 5 show on Beechbrook or your own website?
Brian,
Thanks for the plug - flattery will get you everywhere! Maybe even a draught at Davy Byrnes!
But I can't post "Upendi" since, as you mentioned, it uses copyrighted music - wouldn't want to tangle with Disney!

Hello Brian!
Many thanks for your immediate answer.
I believe you are right it was the word by word translation of the question in german. (my awful english!)
I visited Ireland 1986. It was a year with lots of rain and high tide.
Even so we had a tremendous boat trip on the Shannon.
I like Ireland!
Al has answered too. I believe the reason of the error message I get (assertion error) is the frequent use of the sound line. The show is a trip thru Namibia with many animal sounds: apes, lions, elefants, seals and so on. Even my comments are sounds.
Yours sincerely

Hi Manfred,
I have been in your Country many times and I have really enjoyed myself ~ I note that nobody has
replied to your Post ~ this is a language problem and perhaps if you re-phase your question, such as:-
"Can I run a PTE.4.46 Show/Template on version PTE.5.8" ~ you will receive an answer.
I do not run PTE.5v8 ~ I run PTE.V4.8 and looking back on past posts on the Forum there seems to
be no problem doing this. Someone should be able to help you with the 'set-up'.

Hi!
What must I do to make a show (created under V4.6 / template-dataset) running under V5#8A?
Who can help me?
Many thanks!

Hi Manfred,
Which one of the tutorials are you having difficulty with reproducing? If it's the Cube Creation, then perhaps you don't have the 3D plugin?
I have versions 5, 7, and CS presently on my development computer so if you let me know which issue you can't reproduce perhaps I can test it for you.
Best regards,
Lin

Hello Lin,
Many thanks for your immediate reply and the small example which explained the function of rectangles.
Perhaps you can help me again.
Your tutorial based on Adobe Photoshop?! Which product do you use? I am using Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and Adobe Photoshop Elemets 4.0 and I can not reproduce what you are showing!
Best regards,
Manfred

Hi Manfred,
I don't have a tutorial yet, but perhaps I can explain how the rectangle can be useful.
First, the rectangle is a way of grouping objects in a parent/child relationship. If you place objects within a rectangle, they take on a relationship so that what you assign as animations to the rectangle apply also to the objects contained within. As with all objects, the rectangle can be made to become invisible by setting the opacity to zero, so you may achieve the ability to quickly relate an action to all the "objects" within this boundary.
Second, you can use the rectangle either as a convenient opaque or "wire frame" object to act as an anchor and permit animations assigned to this to be transmitted to other children.
Let's take an example:
Create a rectangle with a child rectangle and to the second child attach an object such as a globe or opaque ball. Rotate the parent object clockwise 360 degrees within a 60 second period. Set the child rectangle to rotate counterclockwise 720 degrees during the same time period. Put all three (rectangle one, rectangle two and the ball) in a linear relationship so they form a line with each equidistant from the other and run the animation. What you achieve is an elliptical orbit of the "ball" around the parent rectangle. Now make rectangle one and child rectangle two invisible by setting their opacity to zero at both the start and 60 second finish and run the animation again and you see a ball traveling in an ellipse.
So the rectangles have acted as convenient "objects" to facilitate an animation. There are other possibilities such as demonstrated by theDom when he used the rectangles in an artistic way with a European supermodel.
Best regards,
Lin

Manfred,
Instead of creating a totally transparent image as a base for "containing" objects, you can use a "rectangle" which can also be transparent as well as opaque, or a gradient.
If you add PZR effects to a rectangle, any objects "contained" by it will move in the same way as the "parent" rectangle.
Go through some of the tutorials and demos that members have created and linked in their posts to the Forum and study their examples to help understand these effects.
Hi Al!
Many thanks for your immediate reply and help. I studied some tutorials and demos - now I am a bit shifter.
But it is not so easy to learn by an example when it is made by an artist. I am an absolute beginner with V5.
Is it possible to create an object list ordered by start-keypoint?
Do you know when the official V5 with an users guide are released.
Yours sincerely
Manfred

Hello!
perhaps I am a liitle bit stupid!
I am testing V5B5 and the genius Objects and Animation. I have no problems with pan, zoom, rotate and
timepoints but I do not understand what I can do with rectangles. Has anyone an tutorial which can help me?
Many thanks.

Hello Garnot!
How do you do?
Our last contact was 1 year ago when a came back from a trip thru Namibia and I worked on my first diashow.
Now I am back from a fabulous trip thru Scotland and I am working on the next show.
I very often use your ingenious small programs. Now I have a problem with TextScoll. It is possible to use NL CR in a text? (Dataset text.text).
Sincerely
Manfred

Hello!
I have a slideshow with 100 slides.
I would like to play 211s of music with the slides 35-42 and 154s of music with the slides 83-90.
Can I use synchronization (or timeline) to solve this problem? Or is it nessesary to calculate by myself?
Thanks for help.

Hello Garnot,
many thanks for version 3.0. Decrease/Increase Height will work very well.
There is only a small bug. When the frame increases very much time informations appear on the slide.
I’m a mathematician and so I am standing in numeric numbers.
With the mouse it is impossible to create an precise frame - for example 1500x1157 (scaling of your frame size 700x540)
Is it a lot of work to specify the width in pixels?

Hello Garnot,
the best way is by email.

Hello Garnot,
I am testing the enhanced FrameToImage _ version 2.0 781 KB _ and I have some problems.
I have 3 pairs of up/down keys on my keyboard but none will work together with Alt.
Perhaps I do not use the correct version of FTI?
Can you help me?
Thanks
Manfred

Hello Granot,
many thanks for your immediate answer.
You are a magician or in german a "Programmschleuder" (word by word translation: programcatapult).
I am very interested in your enhanced program.
I was 25 year the head of a software development center. We had huge computers from IBM , only some tools
and we use the programming languages assembler, FORTRAN, COBOL, PL1. Gone times.
What tools and languages do you use? HTML, VBA, C, C++ or others.
May I get a small sourcecode of your program ?
Many thanks

Hello BOXIG (Garnot),
I have lots of slides (.jpg) with image size 1536 x 1024 (1,5:1) and I want to show these slides with frames.
Yesterday I found your genius programm FrameToImage. But all your frames have size ~ 1,3:1 so my images will not fit to the frames.
What can I do?
Cutting all my images?
Cutting all the frames?
Or have you got a program to change the frames?
Perhaps you can help me.
Many thanks.

Hello!
I am looking for user of the german version of PTE. Please report.
Manfred

Hello!
I am using the german version of PTE.
Can I report my problems and proposals in german? Have you got some specialists speaking german?
Because I do not run the english version in parallel with the german version I get into trouble reporting problems.
Very often I do not know the corresponding term you use in the english version (for example Übergang = transition, or Stundenanzeiger?).
Can I get at least a translationtable for tool-specific words and window-headlines (for example <Erstellen der AVI Video-Datei>).
Manfred

I have a very complex slideshow with lots of customized settings and different music for specific groups of slides.
I would be very happy off a listing (1 row/slide) with all settings/informations which belong to each slide (.TXT or .CSV-Format).

I am using the german version of PTE V4.31 and I want to create an AVI-dataset.
But I can not find any AVI button in the main window of PicturesToExe as you describe.
Can you help me in showing a screen snapshot?
ADJUSTOR

Posted
Hello Al,
I was an eager user of SYNOPSIS PTE. And I am pleased that you are going with your genius excel-program ADJUSTOR the same way.
Perhaps you can solve my synchronazation-problems with your excel-program easily.
All my shows have the same structure:
Project Options -> NO Background music for show
S01
S02
S03 Play new background music file(s) | M01
S04
S05
S06
S07 Before synchronization M01 is ending here BUT M01 sould end at S09
S08
S09
S10
S11 Play new background music file(s) | M02
S12
S13 sound 01
S14
S15
S16 sound 02
S17
S18 Before synchronization M02 is ending here BUT M02 sould end at S15
S19
S20
and so on
Can I synchronize with your ADJUTOR?
May I get an prototyp according to the example? Take 20 sec for each slide.
Many thanks
Manfred
