  1. cheers Ken, perhaps I ought to visit this forum more often to keep up to date!
  2. A search for 'trojan' received better results: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....amp;#entry35474 Seems to be an ongoing problem, so sorry for repeating it here.
  3. Using a 'translator program' as far as I can work out, this seems to be a problem whereby certain Anti Virus programs are mistakenly 'believing' that PTE shows with a number of jpegs contain a trojan horse program. There is apparently an entry somewhere on this message board about this (search of forum using DCNN trojan revealed nothing) so please accept my apologies if I'm repeating old news.
  4. I've since found there's been a lot of discussion about this on the diaporamaforum forum recently but my French is not good enough for me to understand... http://www.diaporamaforum.com/forums/index...amp;#entry62275
  5. I'm always looking for good PTE shows, and I've been a member of 'Le Site DCNN' for a while. After a few months break I tried to download "Paolo" from DCCN but my Anti-Virus program (Kaspersky) detected a Trojan concealed within. I've tried some others with mixed results. Whats more worrying is that I've gone back into my old PTE shows folder and scanned some shows that I've downloaded from DCCN in the past, this time though discovering Trojans that my AV program hadn't found before. I'm not saying that these 'trojans' are dangerous, or that you shouldn't use DCCN, but you should be aware of these threats. Perhaps one of the DCNN people would like to comment? The message I'm getting is: detected: Trojan program Backdoor.Win32.Hupigon.djk
  6. seen lots of pics from there in our local and open Photo Competitions, my vote is in!
  7. I've just gone back to the project.pte file and re-created the exe file and ended up with only a 50Meg file, somewhere along the way I must have converted my friends original pte file with his hi-res images into the exe file rather then the rebuilt version I made with all the pics reduced to the 1024/762 max dimension size. Sorry I get confused very easily... thanks for your help though, appreciated
  8. Sorry this is probably an old question to you but... I've just 'created' a pte (4.48) exe file from approx 100 jpeg files (average half a meg each), only two pics have text on (six letters each), no music, but the resulting exe file comes out as 120meg big, is this right or have I missed something? ta in advance
  9. I think you'll find you have to edit it in v5, sounds like you're trying to do it in the older v4.48(or earlier) version? hth
  10. thanks to both of you, I'll sit down at the weekend (when I'm less busy) and have a go! cheers! kloggy
  11. I'm an Irfanview user too, let me in on the 'secret' please!
  12. Enjoyed the show, Morasoft, nicely put together. Minor point, you need to add a 'd' to the end, it should be 'to be continued...' and I promise you, your English is much better then my Spanish!
  13. thank you, worth the wait too, well done!
  14. hi Andreas, it comes up as a pte project rather then an exe show for me, plus it comes out as an early version of PTE (v1?) that is not supported by the current version (v4.48) so I'm unable to 'preview' it? happy new year
  15. Hello Stéphane, Really enjoyed your show, particularly liked the creativity and the humour. It might be my pc video system, but I did notice some white 'breakthrough' at the top of the star scenes which you may need to have a look at, though it is a minor point which doesn't detract from the show. great work!
  16. As one of the earlier downloaders, please accept my apologies for not commenting before now. I don't feel particularly qualified as a new-be to PTE to comment on others shows. I hope to learn from watching as many as possible, and it really helps to read authors comments as to how and why they put their show together. I can say that I did enjoy your show, and understood the message (as an ex serviceman myself). B/W images can be more evocative then colour images and this showed up well with your show, not only with the pictures but also the text/background. Perhaps I would have preferred slightly more time between 'slides' to read some of the comments. I think I would have converted the picture of the monument from colour to b/w, so starting with the colour picture as you explain the reason for it then changing/fading to b/w as you go through the explanation (does that make sense?) before going on to the individual slides of the friezes. I particularly liked your idea of 'listing' the names at the end. Thanks for listing it so we could enjoy!
  17. Thanks to Ralvis for working out that my Flash player was too old and sending me a download link (http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/), all is now working correctly. Enjoyed the show, appreciated the personal side which made me remember how lucky I am.
  18. Doesn't seem to work for me, I just get audio with a black screen?
  19. cheers Ken, thought I was going mad when I couldn't find it, thought as the original message was only a week ago that it should still be there.
  20. Can't find it? please send link? ta very much
  21. cheers Geoff Is this a license problem or a software problem as our Society is licensed for music, so the rights isn't an issue, but software protection might be? John
  22. Been helping a fellow member of our Photo Society build a show using PTE. The problem he's been having was with the music repeating itself, and also went silent in places. He'd loaded a number of .wma tracks which should have lasted longer then the picture duration, but on previewing one track kept repeating and didn't 'move' on to the next track. We even tried deleting all the music from the Music tab/Project Options and untick the 'Play Background Music' box but on selecting 'Preview' the same music would play. In the end I advised him to start a new project and rebuild his show from the beginning again. All music was loaded through Project options and none through individual slides. Another symptom was a text box kept appearing on one slide even though it had been 'removed' before running the 'preview' Any ideas what we're doing wrong? TIA John
  23. Cheers Jeff, appreciated, I must learn to RTFM but I've always been under the foolish impression that software should make life easy... No disrespect to PTE, as I'm enjoying learning to use it... John
  24. Project Options, Main Tab, Customise Synchronization button... when selecting 'Automatic Synchronization - (all slides display for an equal amount of time determined by PTE), why don't the timed point flags on the scale move to their correct postions to indicate the correct change points? The preview seems to work as selected? I know I'm probably doing something wrong, but please help? John
