Hello Guido !!! Good to see you on today. Hope your holiday season has been a happy and healthy one Yes, definitely alot of new faces have appeared in this forum ... esp since the implementation of the video feature has surfaced. But its always a welcome treat to see good ole friends ... even if only once in a while !!! Take care my friend Guido * As usuall ... I found us posting almost the same time in another topic

AARRRGGG !!! Alot of us here have had your same experience at one time or another. But those times have since passed ... since Igor implemented Customised Synchronization. Your problem was using Customize Slide to build the perfectly timed show. Even though your show ( perfectly tweaked) seemed to play reasonably consistant on your own pc ... it still can play inconsistant at different times/days due to your own pc loads and resources used/avail. It all boils down to pc/cpu processor speed ... which fluctuates according to the current use and demand you task at any given sitting. Playing from CD is even more evident due to the basic nature of their much slower read/load speed capabilities. When Igor finally found a cure for this playing inconsistancy (a few versions ago) ... this magic wonder was named Customized Syncronization to music. Playing from a CD can still promote some minor inconsistant timing ...but in most cases plays reasonably well.

Bubba, Boxig may be enjoying his vacation by now What your experiencing is pretty much the normal loading delay of your PTE Show after your Flash file plays and exits ... therefore your desktop reveals itself untill your PTE Show is loaded and playing. Other factors : Large MB file sizes can contribute to longer loading times ... esp from CD since CD is usually slower at reading and loading files. If you have lots of pc background processes running and virus protection active, these also contribute to loading delays ( virus programs check your files before actually loading them.) Im sure Boxig can easily implement some blank/black full screen background to hide the desktop during this loading transition time or some other means to compensate for the time it takes to load your PTE Show. * In the meantime, a possible work around that you can do : Create a PTE show (using Run External Application on first slide) that just launches Boxigs utility. Make this PTE launcher show just a full screen black background color (or whatever color you like) to play for a specific time then exit. If your Flash file plays for 30 seconds ... have your PTE launcher close and exit at 35 seconds as a example. This gives you 5 seconds loading time that will hide the desktop view till your actuall PTE Show plays.

femart, This can happen when you select Automatic/Custom Synchronization music and also use a indivdual Customize Slide/Music background settings. You can not have both as background music ... so you must disable one of the above checkbox settings to remove the Error Message. Are you trying to achieve multiple music selections to be played ?

Boxig, I thought you would be on vacation by now ... Is this one of your usuall yearly paradise trips ? Hope you really enjoy ... you have had a tough past year and well deserve a good relaxation. Go for it !!!

Creating Slideshow to play in Dvd Player
nobeefstu replied to mikegreenslade's topic in General Discussion
Mike, I believe your thinking along the wrong idea here. PTE does not convert your exe ( no need to create a exe version to produce video version of your show) ... nor for that matter does your NERO software convert exes either. PTE only produces the avi/video information (a temp Project1_vid.avi file) so your NERO software can create the actual video to the CD or DVD disc. Your NERO software must support creation of VCD/SVCD/DVD formats. VCD and SVCD format can be written to normal CDR discs. DVD format is created to actual DVD disc using a DVD burner. (Quality and time to produce is dependent on format type you select and encoders (codecs) used ... DVD is best quality) As Michel mentions .... you need something like NERO VISION to create video ... not all NERO burning software support video creation. You must first find out what burn format capabilities your NERO has. From my reading, many users here have had varying degrees of success of using NERO to create their videos. Best to do a forum search for "NERO" to see others posting on this subject. * Heres a start ... do a search for other postings : WnSoft Forums - Creating SVCD using Nero 6 http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...&t=1469&hl=nero -
Creating Slideshow to play in Dvd Player
nobeefstu replied to mikegreenslade's topic in General Discussion
Mike, There is a separate Video Forum for PTE that mainly relates to producing a AVI/VCD/SVCD/DVD of your Show. How to Create Video http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index....php?act=SF&f=4 It is not as simple a process to create a video version as is creating a exe version. To begin : -Do you have video burning software ? PTE does not burn video. -Are you somewhat knowledgeable of the various video formats that can be created ? -Are you somewhat knowledgeable about video codecs and whats currently installed on your pc ? So there is a bit of a " learning of the process " to create video that you should become familar with. Different formats and different codecs use different compression schemes which can greatly vary the quality and time to produce the video. PTE beta v4.20 Help File has in its User Manual Chapter a How to create DVD-Video disc. It is pretty basic and straight forward to get your pte show to your own burning sofware so it can convert it. * Your own video burning sofware should more or less give you the ... as each make/brand has its own specific processing steps. -
Isabel, We can all do that at one time or another. Maybe because we had too much coffee or not enough on those days
-
Isabel Clicking just User Manual is just a Chapter Title. If you want to see it contents ... click the the sub-chapters below it. Main Window,Project Options, etc ,etc.

Rskid, I hope my post didnt convey that impression. My basic review of that software was quite brief ... since I actually never used it. I can easily see some major differences ... their muliple versions and prices. They had lots of nice features. However, I could not see use of Object/Butttons and a actual Music Syncronization. I downloaded their demo pe_tour.exe and tried it. Upon closing from full screen ... my pc taskbar disappeared and my desktop changed to 640X420. I had to reboot to get back to normal. If their own distributable demos give issues ... Im not willing to test/tryout this software.

Problems getting menu slide at end of show to work
nobeefstu replied to pixelpete's topic in General Discussion
Pete, Please check again ... if your trying to use Buttons on the last slide of your SYNC show. Using music SYNC and mouse access to Buttons is now possible in Beta v4.20. Make sure you Tick both boxes : Synchronize slideshow to music duration and Permit the control of show This version now allows mouse interactivity with your object/buttons and use of the navigation bar ... when used with SYNC show setting. -
How to Create a Dvd Slideshow using PTE
nobeefstu replied to mikegreenslade's topic in General Discussion
Since Igor is still developing this Beta version of PTE 4.20 ... Im sure its going to be awhile before you get a full/more in depth help file on AVI/DVD. Usually a help file is made well after all the beta testing is complete and the final version is released. Thats why Igor supplied this section of the forum ... as to help everybody. -
Problems getting menu slide at end of show to work
nobeefstu replied to pixelpete's topic in General Discussion
Pete, Why dont you give PTE Beta version 4.20 a test to see if it fullfills your needs. This build is still only Beta and not Final release. This release features much more than just AVI/DVD functions ... it has many more functions not all completed as of this Beta build release. -
Interesting piece of Software ... or should I say several different versions or grades available to suit ones particular needs. A little confusing as to what each version will exactly do. I guess if you want to do it all you need the Pro version at a almost 10X the PTE price. I guess this is what some users ultimately want PTE features to become ... I hope they will also like a 10X price increase too. This may be geared more for the commercial users as they have better means to write off its initial cost. Every piece of sofware has its advantages and disadvantages ... as none is perfect for all users. PTE may not do it all ... but what it does do ... it does it very well !
-
Welcome Michael , If your using PTE v4.14 final latest release ... this wont work for sync shows. New features in development in beta v4.20 releases now allow mouse interactions possible for sync shows. If your building a exe show and using synchonize slideshow to music settings make sure you Tick the box Permit the control of show * Its not possible to use PTE buttons when making a video version.

I can only suspect that some confusion is encountered by some users by the different SAVE and CREATE functions as listed in the File Menu. - The top portion of the File Menu : Open/Save/Save As/ etc only relates to .pte files and project templates - The bottom portion of the File Menu below the spacer bar : Create Slideshow/Create Slideshow AS/etc. only relates to creating the executable (exe or scr) of the .pte file. The two functions provide alot of flexability in the SAVE and Create process ... but it may add some bit of confusion to a new user till they learn they are dealing with two different files.
-
Maybe its just me ... but I believe the file open/save process works pretty much as expected ... I have no problems working with it - I would think if you opened a previously made pte file, edited it, and then just SAVED it ... it would normally be saved as its original pte filename without any prompts for a name change. -Using SAVE AS gives a prompt to change name of the current opened pte filename. It would have been much easier and faster just to click FILE/NEW ... it will automatically prompt for new project name ( which is actually the filename) and clear all slide contents. This process works even on the current opened file. Clicking SAVE will then use your new project name (filename) that was prompted. I dont think the open/save process is what is working wrong here. The subject of question is Igor's use of the term using Project as the filename. If you can overcome his naming convention used (project vs filename) ... things work just fine for me

Just to fill in some little details : Techman1 About your : Yes, this is a MMB thing. This directly relates to alot of W98/ME OS using older sound cards/ or onboard cards with sound drivers that are not WDM compatable. You may have a VXD type installed that is not WDM compatable. Updating your sound drivers should solve this issue. My W98SE has WDM type installed ... and my W98 has VXD type installed but it is WDM compatable. You can verify your type installed using DirectX Diag tool. Ron, MMB is Multimedia Builder ... a menu authoring program. SFX is a Self extracting zipfile executable type.
-
ralvis, Works fine for me too ... W98 Goes to show a combination of programs (SFX to launch PTE and PTE to launch MMB) can create a nice, simple, self contained presentation package. I agree with Boxig ... best to have the temp files removed when completed.
-
Welcome Andy, There are several ways to retrieve your lost images : 1- Your Keyboard Print Screen Key 2- A 3rd party Screen Capture program 3- Boxig's "Restore PTE" utility ... available at : http://www.thailandphotoalbum.com/#programs * Just Play your PTE Show and capture what images you require by screen capture. Decompiling a exe is easier said than done
-
CC and Ken are quite correct. I believe alot of users here tend to believe the TEMP PTE_AVI that PTE creates is a full functioning .avi file ... it is not. It is just a step of a process to produce your avi/vcd/svcd/dvd. You must make a selection of your installed/available Codecs to convert for full functional use. Read Igor' comment :

Problem with opening files in left side window.
nobeefstu replied to Blastoff's topic in General Discussion
Blastoff, Did this file access problem just occur somewhat recently and is the issue exerienced in other programs other than PTE? What version of PTE and Windows are on your PCs? In most cases when a file is corrupt you would receive a message of some "Access Violation" By your above description ... I also assume that all left and right click file actions is not working ? Left file panel has the capabilities of Dbl-Click, Right-Click and Drag to add images to the right panel slide list. What specifically were you searching for to remove from the registry ? Have you tried opening previously made .pte files as a test ? I have not been able to duplicate your issue within PTE itself. Usually file access issues of this nature tend to be experienced system wide. If they prove to migrate slowly and affect other files/programs within your Sys ... a file virus may be the case. Off to a slow start ... but a history needs to be developed here. -
Problem with opening files in left side window.
nobeefstu replied to Blastoff's topic in General Discussion
Nice one Al ! Yes, I think Blastoff oughta supply a bit more detail. My first guess with the info supplied : Your are accessing network or remote drives that are not mapped to your main PC. -
Joy, Just a Note : Boxig's "FlashMe" should serve you well if your producing PTE as a exe Show. You may run into some trouble or difficulties trying to create this to a vcd, svcd, dvd format. When using PTEs "Run External File" actions ... these files wont be automatically included/converted in the Video process. You will most likely have to find some other means to convert the external files and launch them. Creating a Video version is not a WYSIWYG when compared to creating the Exe version.

Ronniebootwest, The only easy way I know of to simulate a Clicking Button (only using PTE itself) is to overlay a transparent Button on top of your Button Image object. As for a actual Rollover effect ... I still find this impossible to achieve in PTE since PTE has no Rollover actions you can perform on its objects. The only thing that comes close is using PTEs own HyperLink Text object .... which has a mouse/rollover effect for color changes.(However still you can not perform any Rollover actions ... only Click actions.) I too would be quite interested in reading this tutorial ... if the actions are actually performed within PTEs own capabilities. It would be some trick. To get the Rollover effects and actions they must have used some other menu system/ program to launch their PTE Shows (such as MMB or FLASH). You can also create a HTML page of your own Buttons to launch your PTE Shows ... but this opens your Browser window which is not very appealing.
