  1. Folks who volunteer to try out a  Beta know their way around a computer. For those of us running Windows on our Mac's, we need to keep on top on disk space usage. It's bit like Lightroom users suddenly discovering they have multiple back ups of their catalogue - all that space used up that might be better free.

I haven't tried Beta 35, but 34 is really lightning quick on my virtual Windows on my Mac. I notice a big difference compared to V9.

I have a show that has only been seen at our Royal Photographic Society AV Group (Ireland). It doesn't show off the features of V10, but was simply made with V10 beta. I intend to use it to fly the flag for PTE V10 and help promote the launch of V10.

  2. Hi folks,

Just to let you know that PTE V10 Beta 34 works lightning quick with Crossover (V18.5) in a Windows 10 64 bit bottle - on my iMac. Also just as quick running Windows under VMWareFusion, on my iMac.
In PTE V9.5 the images took a while to load, you could watch them loading or appearing one by one. In PTE V10 this doesn't happen, all images seem to load almost immediatly.

Well done Igor, we are all looking forward to release.

Well done Mark, a very nice gesture from you to do this.

Once version 10 is released, as with previous releases, I will also advertise it on the AV News website and in the AV Links email newsletter

We will also be having a PTE 10 night at the  Wilmslow Guild AV Group to go through all the new features. (the new season programme is still to be finalised).

I'll watch out for the date Jill. It would be a good excuse to visit my daughter and granddaughters in Manchester.

  4. We have many loyal followers of PTE, all over the world. Once the final release candidate is available; I am sure many of us will want to help Igor promote this new PTE version, by creating social media posts, that will help spread the word.

The power of modern social media is uncanny. Whether it be FaceBook, Vimeo, Instagram, YouTube, etc. All of these platforms can allow PTE users to spread the word.

I suspect most folks will want to mention the new version of PTE, include an example of their work (made with PTE) and link to where more details and a trial download can be found. However; some folks, whilst fully supportive of PTE, may not know how to do this. Or, they may not have an example of their work to show.

To break it down, there are 3 elements:
    1. PTE V10 is now available...
    2.  Here is an example...
    3.  Download a trial version here (link) and have some fun!

Once the V10 is released, I will offer a boiler plate text to cover 1 and 3. (In both text and html).

But, we will really need folks to help out by offering links to their shows on Youtube, Vimeo, etc. - for paragraph 2.

Just some thoughts about how we can help promote PTE10, all ideas and suggestions are most welcome.

  5. Just for your information, PTEV10Beta8 doesn't work with Crossover V18.5 (latest)The Evaluation screen comes up in black but your cant see anything. Perhaps related to dark mode? Perhaps a dialogue box asking if user wants normal or dark mode after entering serial or going for trial.

  6. Thanks for all this folks. I recently attended a P2E workshop in Wilmslow were modifiers were discussed and demonstrated. Really interesting and I must revisit this when on a computer, rather than on a tablet - to download and play with some of the demos.

  7. If you bring out a Mac version with Metal, I will have to buy a new iMac.  I'm not complaining, indeed it will be just the excuse I need! My 2011 iMac, is like Trigger's Broom, new screen, new logic board, 512GB SSD, 3TB HB, combined into a 3.5TB Fusion Drive. All of these have given the old girl a new lease of life. She still works fine, but is now slow, especially with ON1 Photo RAW.
