Granot...got it, thanks. It works fine but could you possibly give a little more detail on changing the file text such as altering the position of the ani gif on the users page, the default display time etc? Maybe a short Help file? This would be for users who aren't too familiar with X & Ys, timing-as-text and what have you. Such as me! Granot...on this computer--also win98 but at home--I can't get the prog to run at all! It puts a small BLANK box up into the left hand corner of the desktop but it then won't respond to any kind of clicking. It does, however, show "Easyopen" in the task bar after I've clicked the EXE file even though it's not actually responding to any other commands. I re-downloaded the file from your site to make sure there was not a corruption in my first D/L---nope, same result. I'll try the work computer's version again tomorrow and see what happens with that one. Jim.

Granot...it is a handy little app but I can't seem to get the re-name function to work on my Win98. There seems to be no way to back out the current text and I'm unable to add new typed text to an empty box. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim.

Ray....that 400AMD you're using to test the rapid fire JPGs probably performs like it's tied to a tree. Wait until you get the 3Gig setup, I'm sure it'll be a lot smoother ride. If you're into video etc, which you seem to be, you've got some fun times ahead. Jim.

Ray... sorry but I think you've missed my point here---the idea would be to simply use this program's produced BMPs,not the AVIs, by first converting them to much smaller JPGs then adding them, without transitions, using ultra short display times, to the beginning of a PTE show to create the illusion of a scanning movement. Adding AVIs/WMVs or even just animated GIFs etc is a different kettle of fish. I, too, would like to see these featured added, and I think we might sometime in the future, but in the meantime perhaps this method is a fun work-around to try. I've used individual frames from Ani. GIFs as an intro to PTE shows before with some degree of success but I thought the nice effect from using the pan/scan method was to give it an illusion of motion across a single frame rather than a succsession of different ones. It looks quite good when used on a row of faces in a group shot for example. I completely agree with you on the format etc confusion re the video world, it's a mess! Anyway, give the pan/scan thing a shot in a PTE show and see what you think. Regards, Jim.

Harold...what I did to test the pan/scan effect in PTE was to first convert the needed BMPs into way smaller JPGs...you do indeed need a fair few to get a nice smooth look to the effect but if you can keep the numbers down a bit and make the JPGs as small (in Kbs) as possible then it's really not adding too much to the finished PTE product. And it does look pretty good. It would be better, as you say, if PTE could do it natively but in the meantime..... Jim.

This might interest some of the PTE users...this software allows you to create a pan 'n 'scan effect across a single photo a la Ken Burns TV documentary style. It creates an AVI file out of the resulting BMPs. You can also use some of the BMPs in PTE with a very fast timer setting and no transitions to create a similar result in your slideshow. This is probably simple but...I want to produce a show (about 300 slides) that will play unsorted...I've noticed that when I choose the "Display slides in random order" option it still plays whole sections of them in the order that they appear in the file view even though it does "unsort" some..Is there a way for me to have all the slides play in a truley random fashion? It doesn't matter too much if the same slide repeats. Why does the above option grey out when I synchronize the slides/music? Thanks for any tips. Jim.

Granot...I finally got my XP laptop set up, have tested TEMP CD and sadly I have to report that though it operates just fine with the installation of the the .EXE into the Temp folder it doesn't then automaticaly delete it when I close down the slideshow...I'm the only user/administrator of this machine so the solutions mentioned in an earlier post wouldn't really apply. It's a pity because it is a pretty nifty idea and it would be a help when sending the slide shows to people with older comps and video cards etc. Let me know if you want me to try another version (??) of it.. Granot, sorry for the delay on testing your TempCD on my new XP machine....I've been having a couple of teething troubles getting it set up and running correctly PLUS busy at work...hopefuly I'll be up and running this coming weekend and I can finally get to test it properly for you. Granot...I've been playing with TEMP CD a bit more (still on Win98 machines) and I've discovered that it doesn't actually delete the show from the C Temp folder when I close it down...nor after a couple of shutdowns/reboots. Any ideas on this? Other than that though it works great and it will be a big help to those with older, slower computers that have problems digesting some slide shows on their CD drives. I'd like to get any ideas you may have on why it's not deleting properly as it can be tough explaining to Grannys etc that they have to go and delete certain files after they've finished watching...thanks and keep up the great work with the utilities. Granot, out of curiosity I tried your TempCD utility with another SS maker (3D Album) but it won't run it...it seems that the EXE must be self contained, that is it can't have any required files/folders in addition to the EXE itself...it installs the EXE into the Temp folder but I then get a message that it is unable to run. The external folders created by 3D Album mostly contain user options for the recipient of the SS to choose from. And since it won't function it also can't delete itself from the Temp folder. However it works very nicely for its intended ap, PTE! Have you tried it on any other slide show makers? I bought a laptop last week with XP installed so when I pick it up tomorrow I'll try your handy little utilities out and see how they work with that OS. Thanks for all your hard work on these utes.
