  1. This program might be helpful for those of us who want to do some touch-ups on the color/tone etc of their pics. It's VERY easy to use! ICORRECT.4 EDIT: http://www.picto.com/ The company's name is Pictographics It's not free (About $30 with a special they're running now) but they do have a (watermarked) trial version. I liked the results with this program, it allows you to color correct individual portions of the pic rather than having to alter the entire photo. If you're using Photoshop or similar then you don't need this but if not then it's worth a look.Sorry I can't recall the actual URL but check on Google. PLEASE NOTE: I noticed when I downloaded it that they try to have you install a Download Helper of some sort---this I would definitely avoid as it will probably prove to be spyware...just right click on the download link and choose "Save Target As" or similar, this will allow you to use your browser's default downloader...other than that the app looks pretty good. BTW, will we be having a "recommended software"-type topic in the revamped forum layout?? Regards to all, Jim. ( I think that there's a couple of we "Jims" on the board now so I'll be "LA Jim" from here-on in to avoid confusion..)
  2. I found a new image app a few months back called IMAGEWALKER...I think it's the handiest thing since sliced bread..very easy to use,has all kinds of features.Costs $20 to register but it does not have a time-out on the fully functional trial version. A great tool to have for anyone who uses graphics and I guess that would be most of us here at PTE! Well worth checking out at: www.ImageWalker.com
  3. I use Arcsoft's VideoImpression--Canon also has a version of the same thing--to convert AVIs into EXEs. It works fine but it does add its own branded player to the finished EXE. Jim.
  4. I usually don't bother with the .ICO either, since you're creating an Autorun program you'll only get to see your customized icon flash upon your desktop (assuming you've got a shortcut to your CD drive there..) for a second or so before the PTE slideshow kicks in and covers the screen. Adding an icon to a non auto-run PTE show might be a bit better, at least with that you'd get to admire it on your desktop for as long as you like before you manually started the show! Jim.
  5. Trying to stake out the moral high ground when there is no issue involved is pointless..no-one is suggesting involving theft of copyright or anything similar so calm down...just about any bit of graphics/audio software COULD be used towards swiping copywrited material---perhaps you should abandon all computing related activities--just in case. Protesteth too much. In any event I for one can't seem to get this D&D method to work! My evil plans for World Dominatation via Rod's tip have been thwarted. Curses! Jim.
  6. To make your buttons you could try: DeKnop Zpaint Both freeware, both really good. Don't have the URLs off hand but you'll find them by using Google. Great progs and pretty easy to use. Jim.
  7. Hi Rod, it's an interesting tip indeed but it seems not to work on my Win98 machine...dragging the MOV still to the desktop does nothing although you can use Quicktime's own command to COPY and you can send it to the Clipboard...don't have Word so I can't test it in that...anyone else try it? By the way, for anyone who does have .MOV files---if you want to convert them to AVIs you can get a nice bit of freeware from WWW.RADGAMETOOLS.COM that will do the conversion for you. I do it mostly to make them easier to edit in regular windows based software. Clive..your point about the copyright is taken but as many, many still digital cameras now produce 30 second or so movie clips in .MOV format let us not assume that people are stealing simply because they want to capture stills from them. Jim.
  8. Granot...I just love the entry: "Organizer= I forgot what it is for" Great!! Anyway thanks for all your efforts, your littlle apps are really helpful. Jim.
  9. Rudi..it does indeed produce large JPEG results, maybe X3. The default setting seemed to work best for me in most cases but you can move the arrows around to try other changes to the pic and if you like the result of the changes you've made then click the "add" button and it will save the settings for you. The defaults are: 2.00 200% 80 80 1X --Just in case you've 'lost" them. Jim.
  10. Andrew, great find! I've enjoyed playing with it, it does a nice sharpening job...I think it will make a handy compliment to DCE from Mediachance which handles color improvements nicely. Thanks, Jim.
  11. Aha! So THAT'S how it's done! I knew I'd find out here from all the PTE mavens. What I failed to realise was that you can use PICTURES to issue commands (go to page 1 etc..) via the Properties in the OE, I thought that only BUTTONS had that ability..thanks very much to all who helped, appreciate it. BTW...what has become of the idea that was running around on the forum a while back re having some sort of get-together?? Is anyone interested?? Or is this going to be just too difficult/expensive given the distant spots on the globe where we all live? Regards, Jim.
  12. Hi guys and girls, I'm using the Object Editor on a bunch of slides and I'd like to add a Button to each one, with different wording on each while retaining the same background color and text color that I've chosen...the default is not what I want to use however so each button has to have its Properties used to switch and this really does slow the whole thing down...is there any way to change the default font--including the size, color--in the OE's Button properties? ( I'd also like to be able to change the default size of the button itself as the standard setting is not big enough for what I want to do.) Thanks for any ideas, Jim.
  13. Just before I retired my faithful old analog camcorder and went digital I bought a DAZZLE DVC-80 to capture its output---it worked great. ( But you just can't beat the digital/fire-wire combo though, the quality is so much better.) Jim.

    Welcome!

Welcome back Igor and forum folks, nice to see it again...I think a lot of the old users must be wondering what has happened ( I know I was!) as the forum seemingly vanished into thin air..is there an email address database maintained whereby Igor or others could possibly send out an alert to steer the lost ones back to the fold?? Jim.
