  6. Orkney is an archipelago off the north-east coast of Scotland. We had a fairly brief stay on Mainland, the largest island including Skara Brae, a Neolithic settlement on the west coast of Mainland, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.   14. The Lofoten archipelago is located north of the Arctic Circle in Norway, and is known for its dramatic scenery and every changing light and weather. The wooden structures, which are a feature of the islands, are racks for drying the cod following the winter fishing season. Res: 1920x1200; 7mins. Keyboard control enabled. Maureen

Situated on Europe's Atlantic edge, the Scottish Western Isles of the Outer Hebrides are a diverse chain of inter-connected islands with their own unique way of life and, it could be said, weather.
