Windows 10

I have just downloaded Windows 10 and installed it to replace my W7 system. My graphics drivers checked as being up to date with W10

All my sequences would run nice and smoothly on W7, but now trying them on W10 a few of the newer sequences with some animation are jittery.

Has anybody else experienced a slowdown in performance with W10? Are there any suggestions to overcome the problem?

Boogie,

Are you talking about the image portion of the show or the video portions? Or something else?

I recently upgraded to Win10. I have not seen any problems playing my shows. However, I just was playing an older show that has several short video sequences. One video portion was a bit jittery. I noticed that I had not 'converted' that sequence. After converting it, it played smoothly. Not sure if this pertains to your problem, but I have found that 'converting' video sequences usually is the best route to take for videos sequences.

Thanks Gary. It is the image portion of the sequence that is jittery, there are no video portions.

I am digging deeper and there is some strange contradictions in the new system.

After running an auto check on the graphic drivers which reported the correct drivers were installed, I checked Device Manager which states that I have two graphics cards in my laptop, one has no driver and the other comes up with a Code 43 error. I am sending a report to AMD to see if they can solve it.

years ago Lin provided the members with

Want to Test Your Video Card?

see

http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16604-want-to-test-your-video-card/?hl=ptedemoshow%2A

once you download and run it, make note of anything else you have running so you can eliminate them

this test uses picts that will be different than yours - so if possible time the show --- does the jiggles happen at the same time as yours do?

all these facts will be important if Lin gets involved

this test will give your system s real workout

I bought my last laptop two years+ ago, it was custom built by Computer Specialists, I specced a hi spec' graphics card. When I tested it I couldn't get the shows built on the previous lower spec' machine to play as they should. Eventually I found it had two graphics cards, one basic one that came as standard with with the LT chassis & the hi spec' card. It had been set to operate on the low spec card to give maximum battery life. I had to re-set it to run exe files with the hi spec card, r/click on the desk top & set to the high spec card. Eventually, as I was only using the LT for public shows & wasn't bothered about battery life, I set it to permanently use the high spec card. Had a couple of hiccups with overheating when the machine had been running for over an hour. When & if I buy another custom LT I will specify maximum cooling.

I tried to find the original story, which has more detail, but gave up in the end.

Boogie,

Please check the Task Manager to make sure that CPU loading is low and there is no applications in background which cause high CPU loading.

Try to download Windows 10 compatible drivers manually from AMD website and then install them.

Wait a couple of days, probably Windows 10 performs some operations in background (antivirus checkings).

Thanks to all above for the suggestions and help.

I have spent the last couple of days trying to sort out the problem with my HP laptop including a total of 3 hours on the phone to HP support team. The HP team have been excellent and put my laptop through many tests and reloads of various graphics drivers. The final result is, I have reverted back to Windows 7 ( quite easily!! )!!

Despite the initial test that indicated I had drivers to suit W10, there seems to be some graphics drivers that have yet to be upgraded for W10.

I will wait for a couple of months before I try again to install W10.At least I do not have jittery sequences now!!!
