Ron,

You're not stuck on 740. When you posted the messages in mid-January, they were not at 740. When you post a new message, the count for all of your previous messages will be incremented accordingly. This I believe is the way the counting system has always worked.

Thanks Al. I wondered if that might be the case. So this one should be 741.

Counter,

Al thats very strange, because I replied to Igor by both methods (non-counting), viz:-

1)

By using the 'Direct Reply Button' at the bottom of 'Igor's Posting Window'......Thats a genuine Reply

2)

By using the 'New Reply Button' at the bottom of this Web Page.......That also is a genuine Reply

Neither method works ~

So I am trying this 'New Message' again this Morning and hopefully it goes to Count 375 ?

I have used the "Add Reply Button" at the end of the Web Page.

Counter Test No:2

I am now replying to my 'Previous Post' above and wish to see will it go to 376 ?

Stuck Counter,

I give up ~ there is something definitely wrong with the 'Counter Incrimental Logic'

My findings are:-

1)

If you make a Reply within the 'Posting Window of a Member' the counter will not incriment.

2)

If you make an immediate Reply using the 'Reply Button' at the end of the Web page ~ No Count.

3)

If you make a Reply directly after somebody else's Reply ~ bingo it works!

4)

If you quit the Program and re-enter it and make a Reply ~ it works.

(I have just done that and you will note the Count is 376)

It looks to me as if 'Invision Board' have got their logic mixed up ??

No, your count is now 377.

I don't experience any of these problems.

I replied from the edit button inside your post, and my count incremented to 1858.

Actually, it's 1859 now as I just replied to a message in another thread.

I don't understand why it matters what the counter says!?

Hi Roger,

I use the Post Counter as a means of 'reference', example:- ..."See my Post No:256"...

This makes it easy for readers to find the origional document of interest.

I also use it when replying "Off-Forum" ...."Reference your Post No: 342" etc....

To me it's a very important function of PTE because sometimes I "Screencapture" various

Links and Articles for future reference and I file them as Numbered Gif's...

To me that's ...why it matters !

Guy's

I'm having a damn good laugh, because you guy's are unbelievable at times !!... Kens' front on humour is terrific and ALs' larconic retorts are priceless...You both come out with real "gems" to brighten a damp cold

February evening, cheers to both of you ~
