AVG cutting up again

Recommended Posts

I just ran a virus scan of my computer with the free version of AVG by Grisoft which had been updated to the last version of updates. It has deleted 10 of my slide shows, most of which have been downloaded from the forum or Beechbrook. It says they had Trojan Horse BackDoor Hupigon2.mul.

I had learned my lesson and had all of my slide shows saved on an external hard drive, so it isn't so bad. But some people out there are in danger of losing shows they may not want to lose.

This has happened in the past and I feel these are also false positives. Someone had a contact from Grisoft and was successful in getting them to correct it. Hope they can get it straight.

Howard

Jim,

Thanks, I've sent a letter to Kaspersky's Lab and just received their response:

Sorry, it's false alarm. It's detection will be deleted in the next

update. Thank you for your help.

Regards, Yury Nesmachny

Virus Analyst, Kaspersky Lab.

I hope GriSoft (AVG Antivirus) also will solve this false detection soon.

A reply from GriSoft (AVG Antivirus). The problem fully solved now.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email.

Please accept our apologizes for any inconvenience caused. In a

previous version of AVG virus base could occur a heuristic false on

several files. This mean that detected file was reported as

infected, although it is clean. The problems were fixed in the newly

released virus base update. Please update your AVG, which should

solve the issue and the file should not be detected.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Best regards,

Tomas Roubal
